I am also very much like you. Did not like Carnatic music as a schoolgirl. But realised much later in my life - at the age of 60 that how beautiful it is. As in your case the change was brought about by the music sir who taught how to learn music. I am now patiently persevering and practising learning Carnatic music .
What a speech. Great my way of bringing up my child in lower to higher education reminds me of what you went through. Right from corus singer to this Voxguru founder / exponent is a great journey. It really pulls like a magnet even a layman like me towards music. Your videos are great inspiration ma'am.
Thanks for this video Pratibha.. my kids are young and i had been gently pushing them into their academics, music and other arts to make sure they dont lose the opportunity to use their potential.. As a parent, when i explain my kids what they could achieve, sounds a bit cliche and kids may not receive the message a 100% Now that you resonate the same message in a very 'guru-ish' way, they respect and adhere to it.. I really wish we had met a few years earlier so that my kids had you as their guru.. BTW - my kids, wife and myself are fans of your work.. we appreciate your content.. cant be more thankful..
It’s partly because there wasn’t innovation in Carnatic music around the 90s But now there’s a lot of innovation and experimentation with modern instruments while retaining the ancient raga. (I’m a 24 year old who started liking Carnatic music since the age of 17)
Carnatic music is very innovative even without modern instruments. The world of manodharmam is fascinating even in it's purest form 😊 Hence the teaching method makes a huge difference to help students appareciate the beauty of carnatic music.
It is very important and difficult to find the right guru..it has become very easy now thru vox guru.. You are doing a great job by spreading the knowledge of carnatic music ...

It reminds me of the scene- "அன்பென்ற மழையிலே அகிலங்கள் நனையவே.." - first sung by all the inmates of Mutt; Mother Spreme got vexed. When she left one single voice captures everybody's attention, including Mother Supreme.
So true. They can choose to not pursue it in the future if they REALLY don't want to do it. But developing a skill can help them have a job in the future that can support them, or maybe they will even grow to like it like you did. 🩷
Well said madam...what you say is 100✅. At the age of 56 (too early 😅) realised and started learning from scratch .... missed out wonderful opportunities 😢

Worthful video
I can relate myself to this…
I am 53 yo .. can I start learning singing just for myself … ? I have no music background at all … I have downloaded your app also
Of course! You could with basic ear training or carnatic basics to understand the musical notes. Then you can proceed to higher levels gradually.
@@VoxGuru thank you.. shall I try proceeding thru your app? Will I get the required informations there?
