USAA is on I-10 and it’s been there since 1976. Everyone living in SA knows the location. I lived on the SW side by Castroville Rd for about 10 yrs, then by Commerce and Gen. McMullen for another 15 years. Then on the West Side on Delgado St close to Zarzamora for around 12 years and the last 10 years on the NW by I-10 and Vance Jackson. So I’ve had my share of traffic.

When I was a kid, I lived in the Woodstone/Northern Hills area off of Nacogdoches and in high school, lived in Garden Ridge… so I always believed the NE side was good. Now, traffic is terrible on the NE side and I really wouldn’t want to live around there anymore. Today, I live near Calaveras and mostly shop and spend time around Brooks City Base.. I much prefer the Brooks City Base area over most other parts of town today. Less traffic, good food and everything else you need day to day. Brooks City Base is also being developed into a really nice area, so that’s also a plus.
My vote today is SE San Antonio as my favorite part of town.

Yeah, native San Antonian who lived on every side of town here.
I was bewildered at the description of Brook City Base (the shops are pretty ordinary and it's honestly pretty ghetto.
The West Side, Southside (to a lesser extent & a decent chunk of it has improved) and East Side are (I hate to be so blunt but are) normatively hood AF. But ESPECIALLY the Eastside, yeah there's moderately gentrified areas, but I lived in that area for a bit and two roommates got mugged & there were several drive-bys on or near my street at night. The urban Southside and West side have good spots but you gotta call it how it really is, and Eastside is mad rowdy. Wouldn't recommend anyone move there. Yeah you could buy a real cheap older house, but at what cost to your safety?
I will say however that his description of the Far West Side (aka the Northwest Side), Schertz area, and Terrell Hills was good though.
Alamo Ranch, 1604 North, Stone Oak, and further north like Live Oak are my favorite parts of greater San Antonio.
Also Alamo Heights and Broadway. THESE are the best areas my city has to offer, in my opinion, unless you wanna live in the country just outside SA like in Helotes or Medina County.

Easy. Look how many students graduate from collage and the SAT/ STAAR scores. Look at the neighborhood. Are their cheap, KB homes?
Alamo Heights, Boerne, and Comal are the best. MacArthur, Reagan, and Johnson are great in NEISD. O'Connor is OK.
According to teacher friends, lots of fights at the poorer middle schools and high schools, because invasion of gangs are allowed and poverty. Many students on their phones. The districts feel sorry for them? Many schools districts do not take education seriously, the schools are crowded, and they are babysitters. Many parents think working fast food or at HEB is a career.
Keystone, St. Mary's, TMI, and St. Luke's are good private schools. Good Catholic schools like Antonian and St. Anthony's. One has to be wealthy to live in San Antonio and to live in a nice neighborhood. Still cheaper than Austin.

It's sad, but the SE side USED to be one of the nicer sides of town. My mom grew up on that side, going to Catholic School in those areas all from grade school to HS. I definitely think there was a shift during the 70s and 80s because more people started moving to the North side, especially the NW side of town.
Nice video, but you forgot two other factors- Schools and Safety. My family moved out of SA into Wilson County for those 2 reasons. I do think the areas mentioned in that article are good ones, but yeah you definitely need to do your research. Like if I were to move back to SA, I would want to live near family and focus on the North Central side of town.

Boy, San Antonio Suburb selling houses. And two more people that have no clue. Yes, San Antonio was pretty much segregated in the first half of the 20th Century. East Side Black ( inside 410 now), West side, downtown to now 410 mostly Mexican, the rest, mostly white. All that changed when " urban renewal" happened with the coming of Hemisfair in the late 60s. Large swaths of old and some historic housing was leveled by the GGL, read Democrats under their false name. A mixture of Democrats, Socialists, and Communists which by law are not allowed to go by their actual party names took rise at this time. The inner west side was next for renewal during the 70s. You take people's houses and they have to go live somewhere else. San Antonio is very much diversified now with a mingling of all races and cultures, even the Mexican Mafia. Your chance of being mugged in the early 2000s were equal opportunity in all areas of the city. Now, since the late 80s all the illegal aliens have moved in with the aid of the Communist Council and they are disbursed equally throughout the city to this day. So you all get your stories together and remember, San Antonio has a past and a present, but no future with the Socialists and Communists running the city. A native.....
