I moved to San Antonio over 40 years ago. I love it here. The people are friendly, but the summers are no joke.

San Antonio is still ridiculously humid. As soon as you get to El Paso then you experience normal heat with the air being dry

The city has outgrown itself. The city was built to hold between 500 and 800 thousand people. It currently sits just shy of 2.5M people. Almost 3 times what the population should be. The city and state have tried to expand to keep up but they're decades behind in progress. San Antonio has tried too hard to be the next Miami or Los Angeles that it's lost its "big city with a small town" feel it once had.

The company I work for has built 2 and is currently building a 3rd market rate apartment complex to be completed January 2025 in San Antonio. My wife and I will be transferring there in 6 months. We absolutely loved it !

I have lived in San Antonio for a little over a year after living in the Northeast for most of my life. It has been an adjustment to be sure but I will say it was nice not having to worry about snow and wearing shorts all year. There are definitely a lot of good things to like about here and I really do like the vibe of the people here compared to let's say bigger cities like Houston or Dallas

SA residents have year around water restrictions nowadays, possible brown outs when weather gets too cold/hot, homeless population has exploded. SA is severely behind with infrastructure to keep up with the growth.

I moved to San Antonio about two years ago from Denver...I bought a new build for under $250K and I was super pumped haha. SA has a lot of good things going for it-primarily the people-they are the nicest I've encountered in a big city in the U.S....people say "have a blessed day" and randomly say good morning or good day and are really chatty and courteous. It's actually almost makes you feel like they want something from you lol but they are just nice like that. Traffic is easy to deal with in most parts of the city, the hike and bike trail system (which includes the RiverWalk) are pretty impressive, too. There are a few good museums and great food. The only negative I've found thus far is that it is so spread out, and if you are a single person trying to socialize and meet other professional, single people-it's hard to find them. I find myself going often to Austin or Houston to mingle and network with that demographic....otherwise, San Antonio is perfect if you have a family or are retired!
