Blimey, what a blast from the past! I remember this copper as a student in Nottingham in the early 80's! Used to station himself outside Yates's on a Saturday night, complete with wooden staff. Very imposing and DEF not the man you'd want to mess with
I spent a weekend there a few years after this was made, it was safe to walk around during the evening, how things have changed and not for the better !
If he was still working in 1983, I'm sure he's the same copper who gave me and my mate a stern telling off when he caught us pushing each other around in a shopping trolley.
Top cop. I was 16 in 1979. I rember him well. I always knew I would follow in his footsteps and in 1996 after 15 years down the pit I became a police officer working from oxclose lane
We called him Slab Square ( old market Square), which is where you normally saw him from a mile away, definitely a well-respected officer , remember the old police box at end of Angel row, he probably didn't fit in it.
When the police looked like police, and not like they have just crawled out of bed 😂

Now that is a proper copper.
Tug (Dennis) didn't take any nonsense, a fine copper sadly missing today.

Blame the tory voters who've allowed the government to cut all services to the bone.
@@yetidodger6650do you really think there is a difference between the major parties these days? They are cut from the same cloth.
a weekend back in the day was longer
Sold out for political ideology.
Picked me up when i fell over comeing out of yates , then gave me a clip round the ear for being drunk
Lol yes heard someone else he gave a clip too.
Now that's a policeman. No messing about painting rainbows with him!
A policeman you could look up to 😊

This was better than an episode of the Sweeny !

Tug would go mad now. The city and the job turned ro tatshit
Now that's what I call a proper policeman, top tash included!
When police where for the people and not corporate pigs today
I remember him.
He was a lovely guy. Always up for a laugh and a joke. Used to sit in my mate's shop chewing the cud
The year I was born. Amazing to see how the cops have changed in my lifetime.
Nottingham not what it used to be sadly, there has always been problems but now it looks like the city is on its knees 😞
Our poor world is in decay.
I avoid going into Nottingham city centre now, council made unfriendly, firstly for cars then people .
