Nottingham Playhouse Sky Mirror 1995 - 2001
This sculpture by Anish Kapoor is situated outside Nottingham Playhouse, providing a centrepiece to the theatre forecourt area.
SKY MIRROR HISTORY
In 1995 Nottingham Playhouse initiated an artistic and architectural collaboration which culminated with the installation of Sky Mirror in 2001. This was a unique development in England, with a major public art commission for a leading international artist by a leading English theatre.
Sky Mirror created a new external environment to the Playhouse and continues to co-exist with the work that takes place within the theatre. Each have their own identity but both are part of the creative experience that Nottingham Playhouse delivers.

Просмотров 4,7 тыс.14 дней назад
A short video by popular BBC Childrens Television programme Blue Peter showing the pull on and build up of the 1980 Nottingham Goose Fair. There was to be no doubts what the headline ride at Nottingham Goose Fair was that year - Pat Collins presented his Enterprise for the first time. The ride as many will probably know was built by Huss in West Germany and was the first time many people will h...

What a lot of money to spend on a sculpture
Remember seeing this at the time. Goose fair isn't a patch on what it used to be back then.
I was born 72 In Hyson Green ❤
Great footage, enjoyed the video 👍 Coincidentally the the music that starts at 1:42 in your video as the police men come into view is the same music that's played at the very start of a video of Goose Fair i recorded off the TV after school in the 1980's ruclips.net/video/o3YB1qtkFRI/видео.htmlsi=CgidXIrnsUyzkEF9
Mushy peas and mint sauce!
The number 33 typically BBC

anazing story
OMG I remember this, thanks for sharing.
Enterprise is the best Ride! I know it since 50 Years!
I worked for Pat Collins back in the day. Wish those days were back again. 14 seasons on the same ride.
WHEN IT WAS OK TO BE ENGLISH NOW THE UK IS ANGLOPHOBIC
This is great. Also looks like some footage from a marching band competition or gala day?
John peters now on boom radio ....notts legend
When coppers had nick names like Tug and not r*pist like todays bent cops.
The Trammps singinh
Loverly market it makes me want to cry
Rockers forever!
I was one of the in crowd back in the day , we very particular who we allowed to hang around in our group
I was only thinking about this the other day! I wonder what both if them would think now?
God knows what he would make of it now
The real Polis !!!
Great times born in 61 pity its gone today great video 👍👍🏴🦊
In most of these videos from cities of the UK in the 70s and 80s people mention how the area filmed has become a crime ridden hell hole. Wow, it's as if unfettered immigration of low i cue bipeds from africa and asia has not been a success. To all you indigenous British people: your government and the meda de spise you.
He was a lovely guy. Always up for a laugh and a joke. Used to sit in my mate's shop chewing the cud
Our poor world is in decay.
Nottingham city Council been over developer friendly , and hundreds of beautiful buildings lost to glass, and concrete box's, Drury Hill 55 years on folks still angry, Edwards yard another centuries old place partly destroyed.
I avoid going into Nottingham city centre now, council made unfriendly, firstly for cars then people .
We called him Slab Square ( old market Square), which is where you normally saw him from a mile away, definitely a well-respected officer , remember the old police box at end of Angel row, he probably didn't fit in it.
Remember many a late Friday night sitting there (in the cold - before the glass wall to the buses was installed) in an alcoholic fog waiting for the last Gashs' bus back to Newark.
awful place
...Blimey, what happened to you? It was just a bus station, no more or less palatial than hundreds all over the country. I seem to remember that it had good acoustics.
One of the reasons police are not any good anymore, lazy sitting in a patrol car, a good beat officer was worth his weight in gold, knew the community and dealt with mischief fairly, and unless it was serious they didn’t criminalise children at an early age, they took you home and a clip around the ear hole, and you didn’t do it again, as a young man growing up I respected the police but the Modern police for I treat with contempt as they are corrupt, arrogant and believe they are above the law, and can make up the law to suit them
The year I was born. Amazing to see how the cops have changed in my lifetime.
It was OK, remember the big Coop, Argus and the brilliant lighting Dept at BHS or whatever.
1:12… bought my first lottery ticket in that shop on the corner
No one cares, 'kevin'.

Nottingham not what it used to be sadly, there has always been problems but now it looks like the city is on its knees 😞
Fascinating...but unfortunately everyone now sits at home and clicks on Amazon - so this market has come to the end of its life.
Top cop. I was 16 in 1979. I rember him well. I always knew I would follow in his footsteps and in 1996 after 15 years down the pit I became a police officer working from oxclose lane
If he was still working in 1983, I'm sure he's the same copper who gave me and my mate a stern telling off when he caught us pushing each other around in a shopping trolley.
I must of been in there this night....the greatest times....Jungle, RNB and the Ladies
Now remarketed by the City Council as "Nothing for anyone". It is but a shadow of its former self. Only about 10 stalls open now, and all on the upper level. Nowt downstairs.
Funnily enough my mother is a dancer in this video 😂
Who's you Mum, Victoria, Nicola or Priscilla....Victoria's Parents are in it too
@@TenchuDRAGONPriscilla mate 😂
Wow
Cafe Victoria was the go to place when visiting my nan (Janet Mordaunt) in Nottingham growing up, not sure if it’s still there now but they always looked after her ❤️
went to see Hendrix? Oh, so mods actually liked Rockers. This dude is not a real mod.
Later post 66' Mods sank into Hippies and Psyche with the onset Of LSD , or they got married and sold thier Scooters , OR they became Skinheads. This Cult moved so fast one type of music crossed- over into another, In my opinion Hendricks Was not a Rock Musician , he was Electric Blues. I am a Mod and I love Jimmy , why? , because its still Black Music , be it Soul, Ska , or RnB , Without which There would never be Mod as a Subculture , Hendrix is nearer to Mod than Oasis or Blur will ever be ....they are just commercial hangers - on... So , its a Massive Family tree of Musical elitism , underground only , not to be found in The " Hit Parade" 200Kid.
@4th_Lensman_of_the_apocalypse I did laugh mate , but I don't really give a Shite anymore ,,,I'm too set in My ways nowadays Please read on.... Oh and I Fuckin hate Modern Bands.. I will say this though , 1 , Jimmy was lead quitarist for the " Isley Brothers " Until Chaz Chandler " Discovered " him , a massive group very popular with original Mods... 2 , Jimmy went to the Twisted Wheel To see his Buddies "The Hesitations " in 67' at the Twisted Wheel , he didn't Perform , just following legends Among Soul Fans as a Fan Himself. So , my " Crossover " description Aint so out of Kilter , after All. 200Kid
What a stupid, limiting and close minded view. All the 60s mod bands drifted in to psych especially The Creation.
@@SandraDeefan I was being Sardinia.
I remember him.
Used to go to this place when it was called ISIS, every Wednesday without fail
After this nightclub closedown it then became Smilin Sams, loads of arcade games and stuff 😊
A policeman you could look up to 😊
Tug would go mad now. The city and the job turned ro tatshit
Lovely little film. I do hope these traditions continue-otherwise- what have we now got left
