Thank you for your content, I'm a hearing person who has been learning BSL and I find your channel to be a really useful resource in assisting my studies.
I am learning to sign and so glad I found your channel. You are so informative and expressive, that I end up binge watching you for hours. In these troubled times, we all need something to concentrate on and what could be better than a new life skill?
Dan you are amazing, I have paid for a few courses and in no way have they been so supportive and informative from your videos. The courses that i have tried have gone through things so fast that you cant even learn. MANY thanks Dan. Your are helping so many people.
Thank you for this. I work in a hospital and im sure the ward staff will find this interesting. Other signs like, house keeper or catering would be handy. There's so many different staff going in and out the rooms
Watched this to pick up some disability-related vocabulary. Going to be attending a BSL course this year as part of my disability activism / arts work. Your presentation is really clear, though just as some folk need subtitles to help, I'd like a voice saying the word so that I can focus on looking at the signs, not reading the labels. Definitely the clearest learn-to-sign videos I've come across!
Thank you for making such clear and helpful videos! I’m trying to learn a little bit of sign language because a deaf patient has come to our ward for treatment and I want to be able to communicate better with them (medical student) - I’m hoping when I go in tomorrow I’ll be able to use some of these ☺️
Hi Dan, Love the channel, the way you explain the sign, hand movements, and, NMFs is great! I'm a Paramedic and just completed my Level 1. Do you know if there is a sign for 'Paramedic'? I'm happy to fingerspell, but it's a long word and wonder if you could combine 'ambulance' and 'nurse', or 'P' and 'Medical'... Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Hiya, I was just wondering what part of the UK you come from. I remember hearing somewhere that signs are slightly different in some parts of the country so I wanted to check. Hope that’s okay! Great videos by the way- I’m using them to brush up!
Hi, thanks for watching! We're based in the East Midlands, but do try and present signs which are commonly used from all over the UK. However, with regional differences you may encounter slightly different signs depending on your location. You may encounter some signs are used interchangeably, for example "medical" in this video is also used for "doctor" in some parts of the country. Thanks again for watching! ✋
Thank you ,my autistic soon know some makaton signs, but has difficulty expressing his pain or sickness, which is very important,I will practice hard and hopefully he will be able to show me, I am reading his mind but it is not enough ,
Can you do another one with things like cancer, dementia, covid etc? I work in a hospital and want to learn sign language to communicate with those who are deaf
I believe they are the same as how are you the sign was used to ask 'are you healthy?' in the past and has modernised to be seen as a greeting in later years. I found the history behind a lot of the signs very interesting so hope this is helpful.
Good question! Try to use your dominant hand for all one handed signs and the prominent movement in two handed signs. It's really important not to switch between your left and right hand, as it can get confusing. The analogy of a pen and paper helps some people, so your dominant hand is the pen and your non-dominant hand is the paper.
@Commanding Hands...Thanks for the explanation. Your videos are very clear and easy to follow. And Dan is awesome. Thank you for posting the videos.. I’ve learnt so much !
I know its late but this is what he says in case you or other people want to know. "Hi, I'm Dan. In this video I'm going to show you health and medical terminology in British Sigh Language". In the rest of the video he does lip patterns (non-spoken). There is quiet/gentle background music. At the end he says "Thanks for watching. For more videos like this one subscribe to us on RUclips. Bye!"
I'm here to say that the term "Asperger's syndrome" is no longer an official diagnosis and those who may previously have been diagnosed with Asperger's are now diagnosed with Autism/Autism Spectrum Disorder We on the spectrum can present in a variety of different ways and all have different support needs, but we're all autistic and we're all important
I’m a medical professional trying to improve my sign to help my deaf patients, thanks for all the new uploads, they are really clear and useful :)
How to create the correct hand shapes is so clear for those learning, really makes all your videos so good...well done and thanks.

One of my favourite channels

Learning BSL has been a coping mechanism for me throughout 2020 when it comes to maintaining proactivity. Thanks for another useful tutorial. :)

I've watched some videos from this channel in the past, but never one with verbal introduction, so when Dan said 'hi" I almost jumped on my chair. :D
I don’t know why but I get ASMR from watching these videos!

Love these videos. Thank you for making them so clear. :D
Hi Dan your videos are amazing, they are helping me to communicate with my colleague. Thanks for uploading!

Hello, please could you put subtitles in these videos? It was really help for the deaf people who can’t sign but also can’t hear videos that well
Its just some music so...
@@user-hs3zt1hm7p at the start of the video there’s speech, some people would like to know what the music is saying too
Brilliant! Thank you so much❤

Is there a different between the signs for 'health' and 'how are you'? They look similar to me. Loving the videos, thank you so much for the content!!

They’re the same. 😊
Is there a difference to 'how are you' and 'health', both look the same. Is this another example where mouthing the words are important?

Difference sign language of your life 👌👍😍
The sign for health is also the sign for “how are you”? That’s so interesting!
also the same for “I’m feeling good”! So interesting how a sign can be used for multiple things
It's not uncommon in many spoken languages
Yes, it's basically asking "[Are you] well?"
What is a sign for urine. Or bathroom?
Does it matter which hand we use to sign? Meaning... is there a difference between left handed and right handed people signing?
Good question! Try to use your dominant hand for all one handed signs and the prominent movement in two handed signs. It's really important not to switch between your left and right hand, as it can get confusing. Hi I just wondered where in england you are? I'm learning to sign bsl but I'm aware that there's some regional differences. Thanks
He's Leicester based.

👍👍
British Sign Language (BSL) it looks weird people show their hands differently and others are not the same
It's a bit like people having different accents - there are also regional differences in signs
@@sarkyfarky8679 Yes you are right :) thank you
Sorry, I just posted a reply when I Wass trying to ask a question.
I was going you'd sign wheezy so I could adopt it as my nickname. 😂
