That cover always gives me goosebumps. It's not always easy to find the diamonds in the rough of today's music industry .. but they're there. Such a powerful rendition of that song.
This is one of the holy grail of covers. The song was originally wrote by Simon and Garfunkel in the 60s if I recall correctly. Funny enough, if you listen to the lyrics, knowing it was written like 50 years ago and applies so well on today's society. Another of the holy grail of covers imo is Johnny Cash - Hurt. It was a song written by the singer of Nine Inch Nails during a dark period of his life and Johnny Cash took it to a whole other level.
You are forgetting Joe Cocker's cover of The Beatles, With a Little Help From My Friends, performed at Woodstock. Everyone else is just fighting for 2nd place!
@Stay Sharp As i've seen many others refer to the original and this cover, the original was a warning for society, this cover is the anger that the warning wasn't heeded. I tend to agree with their interpretation. But this is a free world (mostly) and you are entitled to your opinion, as long as you don't state it as a fact. You have a good day.
great reaction ladies..............................powerful performance...............................his voice was both beautiful and haunting.........the piano touches the soul and the drums pounding out those two strikes is haunting and the orchestra is perfect background for the whole song
These lyrics are so prophetic and artistic. I could literally break them down to our society today. My favorite is: "People talking without speaking" Today we have Text messaging, Email and many other forms of talking without speaking. The lack of social skills from some people is depressing and dark at times.
Great reaction. I could see the girl on the right was on the verge of tears throughout the song. One of the best live performances of all time. Peace...
Fans always knew he had an AMAZING voice, but I understand where you're coming from. I think it's more so that people weren't expecting a more operatic type of song from them rather than something heavy.
That was one of the best vocals I ever heard and these guys on the comments were saying he was sick at the time Love Rain On Me is also another good vocal from The Who and gone away from The Offspring I would love to see you guys do those
Disturbed's 'Down with the Sickness' should be your next tune of their's to check out so you can see what the band usually sounds like. I would also suggest you listen to the original of Sound of Silence by Simon & Garfunkel, way different.
Not many people seem to remember the cover of Sound Of Silence done by Nevermore. They did such a heavy and extremely dark sounding version which I love.
That was really great to see an honest and fresh reaction by a couple of folks from your age group. Having read the lyrics first allowed you to really appreciate how absolutely perfect the rendition and performance arrived at one of the most perfect live performances ever captured on video. So beautifully perfect in fact that it makes the tears flow from the combination of message and the extraordinary musical presentation of the emotional intent of the lyrics. You felt it and we could all see that. Great job girls and very glad that you could feel the intention of all of it. Nice. 👍🏻😎👍🏻
Since y'alls introduction to Disturbed was The Sound of Silence, I suggest listening to a heavy song by them. I recommend Stricken by Disturbed. Great reaction guys!!
That's an awsome rendition of the song, quite possibly my favorite, however I think it's important that you girls hear the original version from the 60's sung by Simon and Garfunkel, the song has always been described as emotionally stirring and powerful, as well as thought provoking, its was actually an anti war song brought on by the growing resistance of young Americans to the Vietnam war.
People hearing without listenig...You two, young ladies, are listening...I've watched several of your reactions and I'm amused on how much you loved that songs! You're father is doing an eccelent job!Bless you all!keep going!
Great reaction, one of my favorites tobthis powerful song. You both did such a good job. You put way more effort into this than allot of other reactors do. Very refreshing. This song is extremely powerful on its own but his voice makes it a legendary soul touching thing. Good job ladies!
I am a PE teacher and you girls make me miss my kids. I play metal while they are in class doing their games, exercises, etc. You girls are great and your dad should be commended for exposing you to good music.
Thank you so much Bill! It makes us happy to hear that! Our dad definitely deserves an award for presenting us to his music all our life and for bringing up the idea of making a reaction channel! Metal certainly has made an impact on many lives and certainly ours as well!
Absolutely Awesome, have seen this clip and the official video dozens of times, so emotional every time. Now you girls want another song to wow and amaze you, truelly. Wolf Totem by The HU, an amazing Mongolian band, using traditional Mongolian instruments, and western guitars and drums, to create what they call Hunnu Rock. They put 2 songs on RUclips on 2018 and now they are around 100 million views. Please react to The HU
The original version of this song was written by Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel in 1965 and they are happy that this work has become one of the most covered songs ever written. I'm glad your dad suggested you play and react to it. Thank you so much for playing it, this is one of my favorite versions of this song.
I'm sure your dad told you this was a cover. The original song was done by Simon and Garfunkel in 1967 and they were sort of a folk music kind of group. The growl is more in line with how Disturbed normally sounds, but he added it here at the right time to illustrate a point of the lyrics getting angry. When Paul Simon heard this version of it, he uploaded it to his website and said "this is no longer my song!"
You just dipped your toes into the disturbed pool.... they will make you cry, scream , and make you feel so many emotions....their music got me through some hard times.
You girls, having such a young age, have such an understanding of the performance both vocal and instrumental. And also you understand the lyrics, the message, and David Draiman is capable of. Btw, I'm a 57yo guy and I cry every time I hear this, so please NEVER apologise for having emotions when you listen to anything!
"The Fighter" - In This Moment "Payback" - Flaw "Digital Bath" - Deftones "Happy?" - Mudvayne "I Stand Alone" - Godsmack "Tangled Up In You" - Staind "The Clincher" - Chevelle "The Only" - Static-X "Broken" - Seether (ft. Amy Lee)
This was a great critique altogether of this old classic. This rendition, when I first heard it, knowing the original from childhood...I did cry and was emotional for a few days over this version. Very moving.
At 3:48 of video Mia be like wait, what?!? While her sister keeps the timing on the timpani! The look on your faces are priceless when you hear that one certain note or sound! ❤️
Thanks for your reaction videos. This is such a great version of the song. The singer is amazing. Beautiful, powerful, moving. If I can wish for more reaction videos, i wish that you maybe could do A-Ha "Take on me" and ABBA "The winner takes it all". 🎶♥️
This song was written 2yrs before my birth, so it's a song that is close to my heart ❤️ but I'm an honest man, and this cover is one of the most incredible versions of this and any sing I've ever heard. And only one of 2 songs that can bring this old man to tear's. Hallelujah, by the artist GEM is the 2nd and if you two beautiful little ladies ever get the chance I recommend you take a listen. Thank you two for putting a smile on an old man's face ❤️

I remember this song, the original by Simon & Garfunkel back in the 1960swhen I saw The Dustin Hoffman film The Graduate. I loved it then, but this lifts it to a whole new dimension. Awesome
David's powerful voice, accompanied by that beautiful melody, makes me feel gossebumps. It is a tremendous version of this song. Girls react to instrumedley by Dream Theater or In the court of the crimson king by King Crimson. Greetings from Linares, Chile.

I loved how you reacted to the emotion of the song. It's amazing that he conveyed the emotion so well, that it could have been in Russian, and we'd all have understood.
Another great cover they do that has a message that works today is Land of confusion. and his singing matches the message of the video. you could do a comparison with the Genesis version of land of confusion from the 1980s same song different eras, same meaning . great reaction yes this song is a power house. thanks girls
Great reaction girls! I find it funny that your first Disturbed reaction was a softer song (also is a cover by Simon & Garfunkel), next reaction from Disturbed should be Stricken... it’ll be a completely different reaction lol
This is a cover song of a folk song by Simon and Garfunkel. Once of the best covers ever. The music video has over 600,00 views. Disturbed are an Alt Rock/Metal band. Most of their songs are more heavy and upbeat. Try Indestructible, Stricken and Prayer for some great original songs.

hey girls, simon and aarfunkel sang about the possibe end of the world, disturbeds version is after that happens, its really sad really, kinda have to words to see how they play out :)
I think this version is even better than the original. I heard people disagree with me on this but I don't know why... This interpretation makes it so much more epic somehow.
David Draiman made one very subtle but powerful lyric change. He changed "And the sign flashed out its warning" to "And the sign LASHED out its warning." Small, subtle change, but it fits so beautifully with this version of the song.
I know and played this song for many years ! Mr ' Draimen was a Chzan in a Temple ! To me I understood the song as ? My people going out if Slavery ! You see the Pen ? Writing music ? It is same pen writing Tora ! And Nova's ark ! The neon god the made ! Is the golden calf they made ! Whatever his voice and the pawerfull he is touching every heart ! Love it even more !

Definitely do Johnny Cash's cover of Hurt. If this made you want to cry though, you'd better make sure there'sa box of tissues handy.

Hopefully without the domestic abuse bridge
Muy hard para las niñas
Yes, but the radio version

What's funny is that what caught everyone who knew Distrubed off guard was his nice, clear voice. Not the growling.
Dudes got a set of pipes
David’s voice has always been powerful, not sure what you mean by caught off guard ?
No he didn't. He sings like that in many songs. His song "Darkness" for example. Disturbed fans already knew his voice.
Fans always knew he had an AMAZING voice, but I understand where you're coming from. I think it's more so that people weren't expecting a more operatic type of song from them rather than something heavy.
