Damn, I hope he didn't take the blood clot shot
Hardcore History is like a gift you get a few times a year when you least expect. Dan is great.
When I was a kid we had like 100 networks to choose from. Now everyone just watches what Joe Rogan watches.

It’s been said before, but I feel compelled to say it again: Dan is a genuine American treasure.
Not just an American treasure. To many around the world
@@douglaskillock3537we all love him
@@douglaskillock3537 definitely agree. I just meant it in the sense that he’s from the US
@@drewcutaia4982 Of course. Dan is one of yours, although you could say an original who happens to hail from your homeland. One thing is for sure, Dan's colours don't run!!
Whatever, we salute him and all who love him wherever they may be from
So are those ice baths. They are trending hard. Thanks Joe Rogan
The Scythians' favorite kind of music was "Dub Steppe".
This man got me into nomadic/tribal history.
Dan is back! At any given time every second of my life I'm just sitting here waiting for Dan to upload
I recently finished re-listening Wrath of Khans yet again, so this interview was perfectly timed.
I'll never forget the first time listening to your work, blew me away! 15 years later and I still get so excited when you release new episodes.
I can't express my joy at seeing this. A follow up to one of my favorite HH episodes of all time? I guess I know what I'm doing tonight. 😊
always brings joy when Dan puts out any kind of show. Thanks!
Always when I expect it least. Thanks, Dan.
Today is gonna be a good day, thank you, Sir!
Dan please open yourself a Patreon! The quality of your content is unparalleled.
Cool! My favorite history voice is back to listen to.
Always a welcomed topic of conversation with my adult son. "Hey, did you see that Carlin has a new Hardcore History episode?" Then many more conversations that follow based on the content. Thank you, Dan. You have spawned many great conversations.
Hell ya Dan is back!!!!
Very excited that Dan linked up with Dr. Harl. His Great Courses/Teaching Company lecture series are amazing and I may be the only person in the world who preordered his new book.
This was truly a pleasure to digest while I work in the kitchen this morning.
What a gold mine! Thank you for introducing Kenneth Harl. And welcome back, Dan.
Great interview and one of my favourite aspects of history also. Just a small correction, towards the end Kenneth mentions Kyrgyzstan being the only non Turkic speaking country in that region. I'm sure he meant to say Tajikistan.
Thank you for the show, Dan! Can’t wait to listen to it tomorrow after work.
My favorite dance at any wedding is the Eurasian Steppe. 🎉
The steppe region is so damn interesting to me. I love the episodes of the Eurasian Steppe.
The Eurasian steppe is so damn fascinating its great to see it get more attention considering how important it's been to world history
It's a vast open space people aren't really aware of. East or West
Dr. Harl’s lectures are a delight. Thank you for bringing his new book to my attention!
Great episode! You can tell Dan is very enthusiastic about this topic.
Always a good time when Dan uploads
Knew I recognized the name Kenneth Harl he’s taught a bunch of history courses for the great courses. They are excellent.
There is not another drop I get more excited for!!!!!
I have a strict don’t join anything policy which I immediately broke to subscribe to the substack. Such is the power of hardcore history.
You can almost hear Dan's silence when he is listening to some spicy history...
Quickest I’ve clocked a pop up
It never ceases to stop everything I'm doing to listen to whatever comes out from Dan Carlin.
Always love stuff about the steppe tribes. Thanks!

RCR mentioned you in a review video some long time ago ... ever since I found you out, you're definitely the best historian out there ever ... next to Mart Felton.
Your knowledge is very appreciated, and thank you for the enthusiasm that you show.
Carry on and share the wisdom and the passion about the underlooked aspects of history.😊
In case you don't know he has many other podcasts avaliable for purchase on his website. He removes shows from his RUclips channel after a certain amount time unfortunately
The last time I was listening to an episode of HH I was slaving away in an underpaid, dead-end job. Now I'm working for a much better employer for a much higher salary with prospects in my future. The lesson is clear:
Step 1: Listen to HH
Step 2: ???
Step 3: Profit
Literally like a solar eclipse with how rare and special a new hardcore history is. Love this shit.

My Man! ❤
Hey Dan, how about an episode on how these settled societies were able to defeat the steppe peoples? And why not 2 birds with 1 stone it and touch on the Chinese civilization, which being as influential as it was, hasn't gotten more than mentions yet? How about the Han-Xiongnu war under Han Wudi?
Two young bastard born star generals, an aging and infamously unlucky general, a battle in a sandstorm, an envoy sent to form an alliance with the enemy of the enemy, only to be captured by the enemy and assimilated into their society, only to escape and return with information about the Western lands a decade later. Lots of stories there, and deserving of the Dan Carlin treatment.
To add. The Xiongnu may have had the largest steppe empire prior to the Mongols. The western territory captured by the Han as a result of this war laid the foundations for the Silk Road.
One of the Han star generals mentioned, Huo Qubing, was a rare case of nepotism working out. His career was owed to the fact that his aunt became a favorite consort of the emperor, but fortunately he turned out to be something of a military genius. Huo was only a teenager when he accomplished much of his deeds and died at only 23. He was a risk taking commander who sought to outmaneuver the famously maneuverable steppe people, and used as one of his tactics what could be called Iron Age Blitzkrieg. One of his more impressive deeds, at only age 18 he led 800 cavalry into enemy territory in a search and destroy mission, killing 2000 enemy troops and capturing high value prisoners.
The Han also fought the brief War of the Heavenly Horses with a Greco-Bactrian kingdom in order to gain access to superior Central Asian horses specifically to aid in their ongoing conflict with the Xiongnu. This was the result of the aforementioned envoy, Zhang Qian, who was sent to secure an alliance with the Yuezhi, another steppe people that the Xiongnu defeated during their expansion. Zhang Qian was not able to secure that alliance as the Yuezhi had no intention on fighting the Xiongnu again, but did come back with word on these "heavenly horses."
Please Dan, please?
Just on time
JRE introduced us years ago and I’m still here. Be well Sir.
