    It's so crazy to hear the character dialogue and see how Emily can keep her almost youthful positivity/optimism from when she was a child in DH 1 or how cynical and vindictive she can get with High Chaos. Giving the player character Dialogue was definitely the right call. Makes me a little sad to not know Corvo's thoughts in 1

    Seeing all of these reminds me of my first playtrough that I killed Aramis Stilton. My second playthrough, I actually saved him before he went insane. I'm so happy I did; the whole Stilton mansion changed to a 3rd state, where it's no longer in rumble and ruin so you can see how it was in its full glory. If you spare Aramis, it's actually 'restored' since it was never destroyed in the first place. Incredible how this game works. I'm so happy I did the second playthrough like this to witness this huge change.

    1. The difference between dialogues at the end of "The Good Doctor" is a leathal/nonleathal difference, not a low/high chaos difference. If you cure Dr. Hypatia during an otherwise high chaos playthrough, you get the first dialogue that's marked as "low chaos" here. And you can kill enough guards in that mission to keep even very high chaos while sparing Dr. Hypatia.
    2. There are two sets of high chaos dialogues for inspecting objects, one for moderately high chaos and one for very high chaos, and this video is showing the very high chaos dialouges. The moderately high chaos dialouges characterize Emily as cynical, greedy, and power hungry rather than bloodthirsty and insane. For instance, she remarks that the Strictures are a good way to control the masses in the Overseer building and brags that the strong get the spoils while robbing a cash register.

    I have a tendency to gravitate towards more high chaos outcomes than low chaos outcomes because I'm a completionist and going for high chaos outcomes but doing them stealthily just feels more "in character" and more natural given that both dishonored games have grim/dark and mysterious settings and lore.

Not to mention it reminds us Emily was only 10 when the first game happened. That game had to leave a mark on her. Traumatized creative people are one of the most unpredictable monsters.
      Plus, it makes sense to see a world filled with people who are both monsters and altruistic, at war with themselves. That's how people react on real life.

    Not all of the scenes are high vs low chaos. For example, the cutscene where Megan drives from Addermire solely depends on if you killed or did not kill the target.
    Which I know since the game is still convinced for now, that killing all those guys in the first level - you know, the ones murdering everyone in the street - is a "bad thing" that leads to more chaos than letting the murderers run free. Till this cutscene I only had a few more deaths (after level 1) on my list, and those where murderers too, most of them a moment before they killed someone innocent. One because the heart told me a too dark secret.
    So always remember, if you don't want chaos, let the murderers run free, and just watch. ;-)
    Thanks for the comparison, its nice to see some of those differences.

    • @PandaCake978
      @PandaCake978 Год назад +7

      If the player kills everyone in the first level, it
      a) gives more bodies for the bloodflies, and less manpower to attempt to clean it up
      b) gives more evidence to the rumors that the crownkiller is Emily/Corvo, causing even more paranoia amongst citizens
      c) will anger the rest of guards of the city, who will take their anger out on citizens

    • @deus6310
      @deus6310 Год назад +9

      @@PandaCake978 Thats only partially true:
      a) Would only be true, if you think from now on these "guards" will kill less than one person each. Considering from whom all they killed, and their behaviour where you can watch it (Newsprinter for example), and the heart inputs, its quite sure that they would kill more people than their bodies are worth.
      b) Yep, true - but this is actually countered if you killl the guys that would have killed the newsprinter. And sicne those wouldn't be the last, and the newsprinter wouldn''t just get a way, its good that he and others have a way cut through the guards now.
      c) Might be. Or it could scare other traitors into submission, when word gets out that who betrays the empress, who kills civilians - dies. Sometimes without warning. Even when the whole guard is watching out and on high alert.
      But all that, even if there might be more bloodflies for example, would not make the player character more likely to lash out against innocents, and it would also not change the way of interaction between most people in Karnaca. Especially when you just arrived there. "Oh there has been more unrest in Dunwall. I'm gonna hit those guys over the head instead of normally talking with them." - Sure thing.
      Just a few other people, where the game considers killing them to contribute to "high" chaos, from the top of my head:
      - Howlers, group of five, behind the carriage station. You know, those that lure people in and kill them, as evidenced by the bodies in the dumpster. In reality you save lives by eliminating them.
      - Howlers, group of three (two) that try to lure people in - and killing even each other over a minor disagreement, so you can guess how their victims would fare.
      - Witches, group of two, on the streets near the conservatory. Who seemingly kill people passing through, as evidenced by the body right besides them
      - Witches, group of three, after the return from Jindoshs Manor, - who killed everybody moving on the main street.
      - Witches, a great many, that killed everyone else in the Conservatory, I am assuming Secretaries, curators, helpers, etc. Okay and one murderous thief (see victims downstairs where he started out), that one deserved it. And they were contributing to spread bloodflies too.
      - Aside from that, here and there a watch veteran, moments away from killing a civilian.
      All of those would contribute way more to bodies and bloodflies than you too by taking them out of the equation for good.
      But not in the mind of the game, cause there it only counts what you do, without you the murderous world would be all sunshines and roses.
      Killings by others be damned, those don't count. And the murderers would definitely not kill again, and be good people now, yes yes.

    • @unfortunately_fortunate2000
      @unfortunately_fortunate2000 Год назад

      yeah but killing a murderer still leaves a corpse for bloodflies to infest, which in turn just leads to more innocent people getting stung to death by bloodflies then turned into foot and a nest/turning into nest keepers.
      summary executions (which is what you're saying is the actually "good" option) does not equal justice and has the added con of also being murder in and of itself.

    Jesus Christ Emily, what is wrong with you? Ya aint the good guy here.
    I recently got my first playthrough complete. It was technically high chaos, I did kill a lot of people, but only hostile ones and I spared when I could. Glad I skipped the cutscenes, cus I don't wanna see my protag like this.

      But this is you lol that's the point if ur protagonist is like this it's bc your going around killing so just don't kill and she'll be nice and innocent but she's so much cooler this way

    Almost no difference. If you won't kill anyone you Will get the same gameplay as If you kill all targets. Sadly but only some dialogues and the ending changes with your game style. I was expecting more guards (to kill em ofc) or much more locked Doors... Nothing... Nothing changed

      I swear there's more guards in High Chaos. At Addermire, there's like two guards who should be on the pavilion who were mysteriously absent in my Batman Challenge run.
