I've always thought that the Overseers were the most fascinating part of the Isles' culture.
A morally-incorruptible group of zealots who, instead of peddling a religion praying to a god, they actively work against one. It's just such a unique idea.

It's kind of wack what happened with the abby. The void still exists. Just because the outsider is gone doesn't mean it doesn't have influence.
But the twist among the lore is that they are - not - in fact completely against the Void, since their Sisters use it themself. My headcanon through all of the evidence is that the Abbey is merely wanting to regulate who uses Void, and if they are the original cult who bound the Outsider there, they have obviously noticed that he is out of control and not the Avatar they wished for him to be.

The curious thing is that the abbey no longer exists in the empire of the islands, after Billie removed the outsider from the void and everything became chaos, the abbey attempted a ritual that seems to imply that they tried to create another "god" but Emily stopped them. and dissolved
I have to imagine someone would be willing to volunteer for the job. But anyone that would want it probably shouldn't have it...
The Overseers attempting to create a new god-like figure for the sole purpose of opposing them is hilariously ironic

@@ericlewisauthor i actually have an idea, the origin of daud and it's story and how the whalers groupe is formated, because we don't know much about daud exept that's he was serkonian son of a witch and got he mark from the outsider at an early age.
Yeah that would definitely be interesting. I don't think there's much more information available anywhere than what's already known though, so I'll have to see what I can find out...
In later books The new Overseer sometime after events of death of the outsider actually commits an occult ritual, and also slaughtered most of the sisters, probably due to lack of the purpose with the outsider now gone
Yep, I try not to go into the books TOO much partly for spoilers, and I'm also not sure how much of them to accept as canon. But that certainly demonstrates the idea.

It's a shame it's only 720p though... Couldn't read the text as clear as it coulld be in game. Otherwise just use upscayl for making the images sharper and larger
After playing the game 7 years ago and then returning a few months later playing it a lot my theory is the following, and it's not that mundane for me at least;
So as explained in the video they could very well be related to the original cult that put the outsider in the middle of the void. Maybe they wanted to control the void itself and get powers from it. The sisters have masks on, but they can see. Would'nt this be the very magic that they created? They needed a center so they could get a piece of that power. Meanwhile the outsider smites them and gives power to random no bodies. The founders won't notice until it's too late. The wielder is now stronger then their order.
You can see their invane fight against delilah. Ten's of officers killed by magic. The sisters weren't there from what I can gather. Maybe they have access to their own 'power'. Which they would probably claim is from their meditations which is very often mentioned in Dishonored.
I hope that this put all the pieces together for everyone :)
