    Glad I found your video, I was struggling with my kit because some parts were of different sizes and stuff. Thanks a lot, Uncle Dan!

      Did the initial engine run the other day and it was the first time EVER that I didn’t have to touch a needle. Straight from the factory it ran solid. That never happens to me. So with any luck Memorial Day is the penciled maiden day. Just need to do a final engine on, range check and then it’s go time.

    Enjoyed the video. Plane is looking great. So is the shop. A video explaining how you program your transmitter to the plane would be interesting and informative. Thx, Rad

      I will think about it. The problem is, I don’t use a common mainstream radio like the Spectrum or Futaba or JR. This new one is an Fr Sky 18 Tandem which is kind of a Geek radio which is what I like. My last radio was a Multiplex Evo using XPS receivers. I'm attracted to these radios with programmable features to truley cusomize the radio the way I like it. I will think about it.

    Dan, I have a Dewalt (DCF680N1) gyroscopic screwdriver with a long 5/64" hex bit that makes doing the chore of RTL servo screws so much easier. The gyroscopic feature gives great control and torque where you can ease the screws in without stripping them. Saves old hands.

    I think it would be interesting to talk about your strut between vertical and horizontal stabilizer, that was done off camera.

      Good eye Leonid!!! I will be covering those flying wires. They turned out really slick using 2-56 rods. Mark has done it on several of his sport planes where I have always used cables. Which are a pain in the A$$ to string and they always end up loose and looking dumb. Yes I will touch on this.

    Disconnect the arm before powering up.
    Other than eye balling it, how do you know the servo is centered, arm is 90?
    In large deflection set ups where the arm moves in 2 motion planes relative to the horn a small offset of the horn is good to minimize loss of force.

      That's why I use the centering/servo driver while setting it up so it will center the horn. You can also use the receiver that will go into the plane and center it using the radio with the horn off and then put it onto the spline with proper orientation (centered).

    Good video Dan, do you have a link for the control horns and screw that you are using?

      The servo screws are from RTL fasteners and are offered in different sizes. If you order assortment #5745 it has a smattering of all of the screw lengths and nylon washers if you need a damper although I have never used them. With the rubber and grommet of a servo mount I have never had one back out due to vibration. RTLfasteners.com
      The horns are from Sullivan. amzn.to/3BXRdHk I used 1 1/8 on the ailerons, and 3/4 on the elevator halves.

    Hey Dan, the Ryan's Rebel is looking great, almost ready to go. Just two questions, 1. where can I get the plans and 2. Do you remember me?

    • @Capgains7777
      @Capgains7777  Год назад

      The Rebel plans are available at Aerofred.com. They have a ton of great plans free to download but you need to register with you email address. Registering is also free. You download the file and take it to your local staples or print place. The file is to scale so you don’t need to increase or decrease the file. They can verify it by looking at the paper size. If they say one sheet is over 84 inches then it’s right. Do I know you? Your handle is not familiar.

      @@mecallahan1 yep I spent an inordinate amount of time playing that game. I was Capgains. I remember your handle there and I think we talked RC when we should have been concentrating on not getting our asses shot up. Blue Thunder Squadron. Aces High is kind of a graveyard today. They still want $15 a month but the arenas rarely have more than 30 in them anymore not like the old days. Good to hear from you.
