It doesn't look totally wet though. I think it's still hydrophobic even at granular level. You just broke the friction holding the structure together when you touched it.
I always carry a spare miniature vaccum chamber in my purse whenever I go out. Never know when you'll need one to de-aerate that pesky hydrophobic sand. Or for other completely nonspecific purposes.

This was a roy back in the 90's called "Squand". It was this same sand, but purple, and boy did I get in trouble with it. I clogged the plumbing for the entire apartment back in the 90's with it.
Yep. They used to sell this when I was a kid, they called it Squand (I think lol). You can make little underwater scenes with it. I loved it, but it's pretty messy and once the colors mix it's not as fun

@@lokalnyork the water gets mixed in with the sand and you have to let it evaporate before you can try to use it again or it won't form the protective bubble.. it plays with surface tension
