There was a time when Bollywood songs were about Arijit Singh, Shreya Ghoshal, AR Rahman, KK, Sonu Nigam, Monali Thakur and I am happy to say that I belong to that era
Lol .. it's still all about Arijit Singh, shreya Ghoshal, Monali Thakur. kk has left us,Sonu Nigam doesn't sings much these days, he's settled in Dubai. And AR rahman now a days mostly works as a music director instead of singing and he's mostly active in South India..
Indian music has lost its melody as the new composers refuse to use indian instruments. I miss the old indian laxmikant pyarelal and shiv-hari that had so much use of indian instruments creating enchanting melodies. Modern musicians are worst lot that india have had. After A R Rahman, Jatin Lalit and Nadeem Shravan, we never got a good indian music director jinke gaane aap 10 saal baad bhi sun kar enjoy kar sake. Nowadays all songs sound indentical.
@@mohinib2001 yeah not everyone but mostly....and one more thing it's not just their fault but public fault too like if they will not listen and give views then maybe they will try to change but actually nowadays people are just busy to trolling someone and also vibing to their songs...for example Tony kakkar... people criticise him for his cringe song but also give views to it instead of his some melodious songs 🤷 why and also about marriage songs I don't have words and about reels songs, those songs sets the trend 🙃
This portion is also called the ear worm. Something that will always make someone remember the song. When used in films as background score, it becomes the Leitmotif which is essential to signify the persona of a character.
10:54 never heard such a stupid logic. If it is true then it can apply on almost all fields. He actually means to say "Kagaz ki kashti" and "Hum ka hau chahi" both are equal quality songs. You just can't decide which one is superior. Hat's off 🙏🙏🙏
The difference in 80's era vs now is also that during that time people used to buy cassettes or CDs so people wanted to buy long duration songs but nowadays music is available for free and people want variety so they get in form of short songs.
That's a bad take. In cassettes, if the album is bad, you just have to get used to it. Besides, how music works has completely changed now And also, the average length of songs have been almost 3-4 minutes in general.

Its not just Bollywood, its music industry all over the world. I'm not expecting anyone to produce 'Bohemian Rhapsody' anymore. Tbh, 'me' the consumer is at fault. I have induced myself with ADD.
Even Bohemian Rhapsody was thrashed due to being 6 minutes long even in the 70s. Songs like Bohemian Rhapsody, which have so many elements in them and 3 different genres of music in one song are probably not going to be made anymore due to the tiktokification. I personally think that the reason of short attention span in the current generation can also be explained by this.
That's just snob music territory. The only reason people know about Bohemian Rhapsody is because it was a snob song for the average public. Last year we had Black Country New Roads release their excellent post rock record which was heavily known in the enthusiast community. Swans might drop this year.
Bitter truth: Kesariya would have been appreciated severely if it was released before the era of social media..... People cringed at "love storiyaan" part because internet told them to do so
No it's not after 30 min I ve heard the song and as the lyrics proceeded I found that lyrics are average but when love storiyan came I felt literally weird because it was such a misfit there....I heard about trolls 2-3 after I want to clear I am not saying because of Hindi and English thing
You can still enjoy the diamond era of Arijit Singh and Shreya Ghoshal. Millions of people are enjoying it and waiting daily for their new songs. They both have highest monthly listeners on streaming platforms in India.
Hi Mohak bro being myself a Music Composer / Producer, I have noticed that everyone in the Industry today wants a hook line (The TIK TOK Line) regardless of the emotion / the lyrics / the detailed production throughout the song or the singer. Even melody song are forced to have heavy layered beats & a hook line or a drop. This sometimes makes us compromise on the lyrics / singing or the variations in the song , the pressure on artists like us who want to be true to the Emotion or the Art Form makes us compromise the Art in order to get the marketing done right. Record Labels who were open to Independent artists have now become very narrow minded and don't really want a song where the audience listens to the song fully in order to get viewership. It has become very difficult for artists like myself to come up without compromising on the Emotion or Music as an Art. I do agree Commercial songs have to have a hook line or a drop as they are meant for enjoying and dancing, but forcing songs with true emotions to fit into this formula makes it very frustrating to survive in the industry. Anyways Thanks a lot bro for taking up this issue and talking about it. Love Your Videos, Keep Going Ahead 👍👍.

I dont understand whats the problem with "Love Storiyan" part...its just a part of Lyrics and Whole song tune is very catchy and Arijit sung if in an awesome way.
I think that Kesariya would have been a big hit pre-pandemic because now due to social media influence, Even if "love Storyiaan" part is not bad, People will hate it only because internet told them to do so. I mean seriously the song as a whole is great and i have no idea why everyone hates the "love Storiyan" part... the Meaning of the line is still present
exactly the thing that's been onmy mind. The love storiyan part isn't even that bad , but the the internet made it so. Romantic (hindi + every language) songs have been using these small english words in the middle of a whole song since 2010. nobody and i repeat, nobody ever raised any voice with them but the moment 2022 internet told them to do so. they raged. I'm not defending the makers for adding english in a hindi song but u gotta agree, the song is more popular now than it would have been if they hadn't used "love storiyan".
Nope when I heard the song for the first time without listening to any review, I actually squinted my eyes at the love storiyaan part and thought why this sudden English-Hindi remix word and suddenly the song wasn't that good anymore altho if I minus the love storiyaan part only , the song does sound pretty impressive to me🤷🏻♀️
The same thing applies to Yashraj. He got famous because of his meme music in 2020, some people started liking it while some didn't. People who don't like him haven't realised that Yashraj has produced really good music videos like Tinka Tinka Barsa, Raat Beete Na, Manzil and Uchlingo Machlingo. People don't have patience to listen to music of more than 5 minutes, which is usually what happens in the songs of AR Rahman. People keep trolling that Bollywood doesn't produce good music when they don't even listen to it. All songs of Laal Singh Chaddha were excellent but didn't get enough recognition
I really do not like his meme songs yet his original songs are there in top of my favorites.....and I really want him to make more originals.....I realise that there is talent in making those meme songs but the ORIGINALS shouldn't go in backburner......i want real music to persist not what tiktokable social media likes to say as music

Finally social media has destroyed everything, from our social lives to people's careers to even music... Congrats... It was right that in the comming few years our attention span will be less than that of gold fish i.e 10 sec.
how has tiktok destroyed careers?? because of tiktok so many small businesses can get a wider audience which could never have been done a few years ago, because of this so many people can earn money. The same goes for music producers just like the Jhoom song which got popular thanks to tiktok and the singer finally got the appreciation he deserved. Stop seeing the negative in everything good songs r always gonna be appreciated coz u r speaking as if all songs suck now, but thanks to tiktok many small creators and singers r getting an opportunity for many ppl to see their content which they wouldn't have gotten otherwise, in the end if it's helping a lot of people make a living so what is wrong in that.
this same thing is actually happening in usa too, ryan tedder the frontman of OneRepublic & he wrote alot of songs for huge artists like ed Sheeran, Justin Beiber, one direction, lady gaga, beyonce almost for every huge star he said that no matter how good song is if it's not going viral on tiktok or reels it's not gonna be a huge hit unless the artist have 150m + followers on Instagram

Tik Tok and Instagram reels have another side effect. According to some researches, these two things are also reducing attention span in people. Social media is evolving day by day which is resulting in degradation of art day by day.
The most disturbing thing about the new trend of music is that new songs have terrible lyrics While before 10 yrs, song wasn't just a music, it had a meaningful lyrics, sometimes listening a song tells the situation & story of the movie in which it is sung.

Was born in 80’s & grew up in 90’s listening to the golden music of the industry… melodic, touchy composition… no doubt tiktokfication has changed everything… but I think it’s demand of the people that industry has to cater… but still love to listen 90’s , 2000 era songs 🥰🥰🥰
I can’t understand how people are trolling and not liking a song like kesariya.. “rangi chinaro jaisi”.. “veena ke taaron jaisi”.. are just so beautiful phrases.. but all tht caught the attention is love storiyaan? Feels really sad that we are ignoring a gem like kesariya!
Pasoori was however pleasant to listen to even after the minute chorus, I wish more music was made that way. I've officially become my grandparents who used to say "You think you listen to music? This is just noise! Great music was made in our times" 🤣🤣🤣
The issue is not centered around whether present trends are good or bad, whether the music or the platforms being used are in sync, it is about the decremental effects of these trends on a larger scale. The diversity and originality of various art forms has visibly fallen and none can contend. But the patrons can only exist for so long if the artists themselves call quits on their own art. Take classical music for example, not only has there been a decrease in popularity but also several artists preemptively choose the art form that is more topical. This also has visible maleffects on those who are equipped to preserve but are rather being discouraged to do so. Current trends also portray the mental state of our population. The increased demand for instant gratification manifests itself in various ways. In music it has occurred in the form of reel-able music pieces that, as the video mentioned, skip over antra or mukhda to the lyrics or the beats. This has many reasons including a tight schedule but mostly, given the kind of demographic that prefers such kinds of music, is indicative of a less patient generation an therefore you can predict the posterity. I personally do find such kinds of half-baked "melodies" distasteful as a person of culture, and therefore finding not much development in the kind of music I prefer as opposed to the popular rock-metal centered tunes (which are scientifically proven to be non-conducive for productivity and mental peace however we think) quite banal. It is right you can't dance or head bash on a sitar but I sure wish some original and novel creations were being put out which would not only cater to us but possibly drive the trend as well. Along those lines I feel Bandish Bandits did some really good work. And so does Anoushka Shankar. The sheer difference in the examples is what agonises me. The present is ironically not the evergreen music millenials make them out to be, at least till they continue to simply remix the true ones. In this digital era, I think we can do better by promoting creativity than merely calling "stylish talking" art.

The thing which I don't like about our music is that most of the songs deals with love, relationship etc. That's a real reasons why I'm more into western music
People should really hear some of the classic songs. Then they will understand the real feeling of the song. Build up is essential for the song to actually kick in. House of memories was a hit and i find the song pretty good through out. Right now my fav is "dark is the night " which actually gives u the feeling that the singer is sitting in an isolated place humming while remembering all sorts things yet calm while singing. Though the song is pretty sad while listening I felt empty instead of sad. But u can feel his longings. If u cut the song u won't get the viral 12 sec part but the song as whole gives u a calm empty feeling. Which I think is the real victory of the song writer. To keep the audience stuck in the till the end and not the punch. Most movies r like that too.
This is applicable even in Assamese songs too There is a very popular song named "Morome Tanise". When its audio released in 2020, a small stanza got viral which made the song and the singer to its highest height. But when the video was released and it didn't touch the expectation, the popularity of that song decreased. But as youths are fond of cute faces&reels, the singer is still very popular.
The last line when chitthi laughed litreally scared me...🤣🤣this trend is just finising the original music the feel of music instead of evloving we are just destroying the era of Lag Ja gale, Seesa Ho ya dil we are just coming to 30 second and indian music have power but we are just taking it to 30 sec trend anyway it is my personal opnion ....
There's nothing wrong with lovestoriyaan It's a movie based on modern times where Ranbir Kapoor is DJ and the lyricist might have thought to add a modern style catchy element so he added lovestoriyaan . Well the lyricist is Amitabh Bhattacharya and he has written hundreds of songs in the past which are great . He could have easily replaced the word with something similar to kesariya but as I said modern element is there which is essential for the film

The problem with the music was that even after the love storiyan part - the structure was a mess, the composition felt copied and lyrics did not have a core. The lyrics for example were continuously going for one metaphor or comparision for girl's beauty after another. But one compliment does not follow the other organically. Look at the first 3 lines. It has nothing to do with each other except compliment alia's character. Now compare that to first 3 lines of phir le aaya dil.

@@kuls43 see every generation said the new gen's music is bad. So it is subjective to an extent.
The difference in 80's era vs now is also that during that time people used to buy cassettes or CDs so people wanted to buy long duration songs but nowadays music is available for free and people want variety so they get in form of short songs.
reels have successfully killed human attention span and focus. this is the result. variety.

Yes even I hate that but I dont know y
You are so factual 🙂🙂
exactly the thing that's been onmy mind.
That's right
Nope when I heard the song for the first time without listening to any review, I actually squinted my eyes at the love storiyaan part and thought why this sudden English-Hindi remix word and suddenly the song wasn't that good anymore altho if I minus the love storiyaan part only , the song does sound pretty impressive to me🤷🏻♀️
The same thing applies to Yashraj. He got famous because of his meme music in 2020, some people started liking it while some didn't. People who don't like him haven't realised that Yashraj has produced really good music videos like Tinka Tinka Barsa, Raat Beete Na, Manzil and Uchlingo Machlingo.

We don't have a music industry. That's one reason for the diminishing quality of Indian music. It's all Bollywood.. there aren't albums by artists.. even if there are ..they don't get the recognition..there has to be a music industry as recognised as Bollywood for music to be of quality..otherwise we'll only get shit like this..
Finally someone said this
exactly , you got the root cause !!
We have indian classical music and indie pop ,but it doesn't get much recognisation or get connected with Bollywood anyway🤷🏻♀️

Hello Sir.... Is tarah ki movie ko logo ka pyaar phir bhi mil jaata hai... Lekin jo newcomers apni acting skills ka parcham lehrana chahte h unko screens hi nahi milti. Abhi 5 Aug ko Women Empowerment ke upar aayi film "Naar Ka Sur" jisne north side me tehelka macha diya aur IMDB pe 9.5 ki rating mili unhe Mumbai me ek show mila wo bhi subha 10 baje ka. Meri aapse aur sabhi apke darshako se nivedan hai ki is movie ko dekhe aur apne honest opinion share kare taaki jin kalakaaro ne isme apna 110% diya unko aagey aur achha kaam karne ka hausla mile.

Sir yeh wohi reels dekhte hain jinko gaane dil se nahi pairon ko thirakne ka bahana chahiye. Aur jinke pass patience nahi hote.
2003 se contemporary season suru hua jo 2008 ke baad completely exist kar gaya, aur jahan se Alka Yagnik ji, Anuradha Paudwal,Sadhana Sargam, Kavita Krishnamurthy,Mahalaxmi Iyer, Preeti Uttam Singh, Sushma Srestha,Hema Sardesai,Kumar Sanu, Udit Narayan, Sonu Nigam, Abhijeet Bhattacharya,Babul Supriyo, Shaan Aur inke saath saath deep lyrics, soulful evergreen voice, music, saare cheeze remove ho gayi. Sir aaj bhi South mein K. S Chitra Maam ke melody voice aate hain movie ke andar, Par hamare yahan ek se ek best young hone ke baad bhi budhe kar diye, Asha Bhosle ji, Lata Manheshkar Ji ko zyada age the par inke voice young the aur 90s ke daur evergreen the iss wajah se inhe hamesha gaane mile par aaj Alka Maam ko dekhiye jo aaj bhi digital dolby hai, sonu nigam ji bhi pure young voice hain, sanu da bhi aaj bhi fresh hain par inko budhe bana diye hai jaan bujhkar, yeh aaj bhi bina music ke melody song gaa sakte hain aur
Woh bhi recorded song ki tarah aur woh bhi bina auto tune ke, pehle gaane 5 to 7 minutes ke hote the jisse sunne ke baad kisi aur wadiyon mein kho jaya karta tha
Aur mind refresh ho jaata tha,
Note- pehle album ke andar 6 se 7 gaane hote the jo non-film hua karte the par abka album mein sirf ek gaane hote hain aur usiki promote karne mein lage rehte hain aur iske saath saath gaane 3:30 minute mein khatm ho jaata hain aur ab toh reels wale type gaane 1minute mein khatm ho jaata hain.
Ab nahi evergreen voice hai jisko hum pehle cinematic aur soulful melody voice bola karte the
Aur nahi deep lyrics hain
Aur nahi background singer hain jo lead singer ke saath apni voice dete the
Aur nahi deep music background hain
Bas ab time pass hain
Par sabhi log time pass wale nahi hai jinko music ki samajh hain woh aaj bhi
90s aur retro song ko sunte hain
Maine childhood mein sirf 90s sune the par ab 1940 se lekar 2008 tak evergreen gaane sunta hoon
Ab koi kahe ki Aaj ka lyricist best hain toh
Phir Sahir Ludhiyanvi, Raja Mehdi Ali Khan, Majrooh Sultanpuri, Aanand Bakshi, Gulzar, Sameer Anjaan, Javed Akhtar Jaise umda lyricist ka hona galat hain
Ab koi kahe Tanishq Bagchi best hain
Toh Phir 60s to 70s best Romantic Music Director- Madan Mohan Sahab ka hona Galat hain aur inke tarah music director
O. P Nayyar, Hemant Kumar,S.D Burman, R. D Burman, Shankar Jaikisan,Laxmikant Pyaare Lal, Kalyan ji Aanand Ji aur Classical Ke Great Music Director- Naushaad Ali Sahab inn sabhi ka hona galat hain aur 90s ke daur Ke
Nadeem Shravan, Anu Malik, Jatin Lalit, Aadesh Shrivastava, Nikhil Vinay, Aanand Milind, A.R Rahman, inn sabka hona galat hain. 2000 ke best Music Director Sandesh Sandilya jinka music Suraj hua Madham,Kaahe saataye re piya, Shankar Ehsaan Loy ka kal ho na ho, Kabhi alvida na kehna, aur Salim Sulaiman ka Rab ne banadi jodi ,aur Ismail Darbar ka Mehbooba Movie ka all song aur Aanand Raaj Aanand ka Humko Tumse Pyaar Hain yeh sab bhi galat hain bas sahi toh aaj ke hi gaane hain na
Baaki toh yeh saare Great log yahan time paas karne aaye the na
Itna Hi Nahi Jeet Ganguly, Ajay Atul itne polite musician inka bhi hona galat hain
Bas sahi toh aaj ke scenario wale singer aur music director aur lyricist hain
Par jo jameen se jude hain aur jinko sikhne ki chaah hain woh aaj bhi puraane gaane ko hi sunenge
Sorry agar kisi ko bura laga ho toh
Bhai bas kar itna nhi padhna .
Honestly Kesariya is amazing. Flawless. I haven't removed it from loop since 3 weeks. Love Storiyaan sounds amazing
Same ❤️❤️
😅🙋same here
same buddy, I've never once cringed at this and didn't even knew it was being panned for it
It sounds like it's made by AI 😅
The thing which I don't like about our music is that most of the songs deals with love, relationship etc. That's a real reasons why I'm more into western music
Exactly 💯
Yeah they should start making songs like wap.
"kam time me" is real trend
Reels = kam time me entertainment, promotion and info
Kuku = kam time me books reading Karna jyada
Strange Haina
10:04 That song of 1981 'Ae dile nadan' still has so much gravity that the songs of last month will sound outdated in front of it.
This is applicable even in Assamese songs too
There is a very popular song named "Morome Tanise". When its audio released in 2020, a small stanza got viral which made the song and the singer to its highest height. But when the video was released and it didn't touch the expectation, the popularity of that song decreased. But as youths are fond of cute faces&reels, the singer is still very popular.
I really wanted to listen your take on this topic ❤️

The last line when chitthi laughed litreally scared me...🤣🤣this trend is just finising the original music the feel of music instead of evloving we are just destroying the era of Lag Ja gale, Seesa Ho ya dil we are just coming to 30 second and indian music have power but we are just taking it to 30 sec trend anyway it is my personal opnion ....
So cute 😅😁😁😁😁😁
In old days there was nothing wrong with bollywood
But now tanishq,Tony and T-Series are wrong with bollywood music

There's nothing wrong with lovestoriyaan
It's a movie based on modern times where Ranbir Kapoor is DJ and the lyricist might have thought to add a modern style catchy element so he added lovestoriyaan . Well the lyricist is Amitabh Bhattacharya and he has written hundreds of songs in the past which are great . He could have easily replaced the word with something similar to kesariya but as I said modern element is there which is essential for the film
Exactly… dumb people on Instagram and RUclips editing this portion as if the lyricist is a fool sitting way ahead of us making beautiful songs, they also know what we know…so there is nothing wrong with love storiyan 🙄
These so called people are offend by love storiyaan but listen to artist like Tony Kakkar or Badshah. There are many such songs that are lyrically shit but people love them. Irony at its best. Idk since when people started actually listening to lyrics.
That modern element is killing the songs.
And who said modern means only English?
@@sureshbabusri9331 lol so damn true people here in Indian are still living in colonial mindsets
@@unknownaccount8857 and! People hate the whole song only for that one love storyian lyric. Wow
Hey Mohak, just curious is bringing back this memefication helping with your views and retention per video? I love how you find new and exciting topics each time.
Definitely! People including me like such content.
I personally donnot like the meme-ification of his videos. I find it distracting. But if that's what works these days, then it is what it is.
The fact is that it doesn't ends just with 'Bollywood songs' It goes all the way to even 'hollywood songs'.
Nope real hollywood songs r still alive wtf there is no hollywood songs evryone is fukin independent tf u talking bruhh
Call out there name .. evryone have their own youtube channel they don't post it under any company like T-Series Lmfao
@@ademonizedwretchguy003 it doesn't matter if they are releasing on their youtube channel. Labels still own much of music in Hollywood. Artists in Hollywood are under contract to not make money of their streams and views for a certain time as the label has rights to them.

While I agree with the points made by you but this trend is since more than 2 decades. I remember listening to Songs since childhood which had an element of 15-20 sec and that used to make it successful like Just Chill Chill, Kajra re Kajre re, Chiggy Wiggy, Dus bahane title song, Dhoom title song even many more from 90s as well. If you listen to these songs you will always find a part of song which was catchy and made these songs successful. Those part we used to listen more than others. This trend has been in Bollywood since quite long and it's reels or tik tok which exploited this aspect of various songs composed in movies.
But they weren't made particularly for these platforms to go viral.
@@aaryanairy756 Neither these songs are! It's just the way the songs in Bollywood has been composed over the years. Even in South Indian cinema you would observe the same pattern. It's just that it's being marketed in this era by using shorts or reels.
@@krishnamadhav7639 you can't just cut the most significant part of a song and say that 10-15 secs made the songs popular. Most songs you mentioned are strongly built from the start of the song leading to the verse/ chorus. I might be wrong here.
@@aaryanairy756 actually, when it's about party music or music to be enjoyed without much attention, these catchy choruses are the main part of song and this trend is common in every music industry. Not everyone here is listening something like none shall pass and spending a week to break it down completely.
Independent music is gonna takeover bollywood music soon....For eg. Tu Aake Dekhle, Brown munde, No love etc etc
True 🤧
There are 3 versions of Kesariya and the one in the teaser was the sad version. We have to wait for that to release to judge it.
I don't think there's nothing wrong in "love storiya". Actually the whole song is awesome. Love it❤
this comment ✨
Yes he selected a wrong song
@Sumanoharam Jha it cringed me first but later I felt like it was necessary.
@Sumanoharam Jha mat sun gaana bhag yaha se
The problem with the music was that even after the love storiyan part - the structure was a mess, the composition felt copied and lyrics did not have a core. The lyrics for example were continuously going for one metaphor or comparision for girl's beauty after another. But one compliment does not follow the other organically. Look at the first 3 lines. It has nothing to do with each other except compliment alia's character. Now compare that to first 3 lines of phir le aaya dil.
I think you are empty headed person phir le aaya dil is ghazal....... And what you said ... Have you ever listened phir na aisi raat aayegi it's all time masterpiece but it will not get famous.. And the problem is you people
Aap abhitabh bhattacharya se jyada jante hai?

@@itsmekunal07 have listened to phir na aisi raat aayegi. Dude even that song has lyrics that follow each other organically.
@@anshulsharma9963 aaho sahab to bhagwan hain. Unse kahan galti ho sakti hai.
EVEN though I belong from GEN z era but I must say that old songs were gold
Eg KOLA BERI , WAKE UP SID, BATAMEEZ DIL, ILAHI MERA JIYAE, TAI TAI PHIS, HASIKA MERE JINA JINA and so on .
Modern songs don't have a meaning and they are filled with unnecessary remix and *auto tune* .
They try to make songs viral on Reels. But the fact is most people don't know what movie the song is from nor do they care. They will only care about the movie if they listen to the song on RUclips on regular basis than on Reels. Time for them to go back to the classic style rather than caring for Reels.
Seriously: no one predic Soch by Mohak mangal’s timing 😂
