It's useless to even try convincing them bro, as they haven't got the exposure to the outside world though internet and social media, unlike us. So their worldview is restricted only to their television sets. But i don't think there's anything wrong with that. If that's what they enjoy watching, good for them. You can't expect everybody to have similar interests as yours. Besides, they have limited time left in this world anyways, so it's better to let them enjoy in peace.
Seriously i hate these type of serials. The serials claim they convey a beautiful family but it's the exact opposite. Extra marital affairs are glorified and shown even if a man cheats the wife still should stay, the overly toxic saas, etc.
My mother was automatically considered a vamp by her mother in law and my chachi was considered precious like Parvati and the repurcussions of this discrimination impacted our respect as teenagers and young adults. And my mother was considered a vamp because unlike chachi, she was heard by her husband and was from UP small town

These Saas-Bahu tropes in Indian TV serials generated a whole lot of unrealistic expectations and a sense of mistrust and suspicion between the bride and her mother-in-law. And I think the reason why this got so amplified was that such shows used to air during the Pre-Internet and social media era, so Indian women only had a limited exposure to the world, and their worldview was restricted to their TV sets. As a result, they were unable to get alternate perspectives on the saas-bahu relationship dynamic. Thankfully, with the advent of cheap internet, social media and OTT platforms, things are changing rapidly rn, as more and more people are getting that exposure. And hence, the demand for realistic content has increased significantly.
But those were the stories told by their mothers and aunts as well . Well they amplified the drama in these serials but there used to be a toxic mother in law and daughter in law relationship always mainly because women used to be restricted to their houses and wanted to control the only thing they can control the household , so always a constant tussle for control . Now happily women are getting educated , going out and starting to realise there is more to life than these petty issues

The fact that so many watch pak dramas are watched by Indians, it means fictional stories with good writing and storyline and a limited number of episodes are still appreciated by audiences. We just need to package daily shows better.
Pak dramas r extremely regressive though. Some r progressive but a lot of them r very very misogynist and also the rampant cousins marriage is offputting
Pak dramas have good storyline and also have less number of episodes which make audiences to be engage with it.. and not to get bored with the same story.. And also it doesn't have so much drama and bgm. And some dramas are so realistic and contain no vulgarity.
@@juveriasadaf4589 it doesn't potray realistic romance though. Specially the lack of intimacy is foolish at times. So many times the lead couple would hate each other but suddenly the FL would be shown to be pregnant just cz they're married. Few dramas r good. But a lot of them r regressive, with the typical modern girl is vamp , family is always right, religion is above all type of bullshit. Saba Qamar really does very good ramas. Her's r very progressive. Her show on qandeel baloch's biography was so well done.
I can sympathize with Indian women and why these serials attracted them. As these were the reflections of their own lives. They realized that the TV characters had similar stories as them and felt at peace with their lives. These shows gave voice to the sentiments of Indian women all over the country. But in the last decade the redundancy and the lack of creativity in writing, directing and acting has made these shows irrelevant especially to the new generation. Also smartphones, cheap internet and OTT platforms have opened up new doors and the quality that we get there is much much better so naturally these over the top dramas are not going to stay afloat for long and I think its a good thing. Indian TV media needs a change.
Indian tv serials were great before Ekta Kapoor single-handedly destroyed it. Saas bahu serials are unwatchable now , most Indians would switch to Pakistani Dramas if it is allowed to broadcasting
Just for curiosity I checked out the beginning episodes of kyunki and kasauti. You'll be surprised to know that they were actually well written in the beginning. It changed over the years with loud bgm and bcz the makers didn't want to conclude the shows. But in their actual beginnings, the characters were well written.
Indeed! I would say tho I found Kyunki interesting for its first 5 years and then I watched a few climax episodes later on otherwise it was really torturous after the lawyer was chasing mihir. Compare it to shows today's like Yeh Hai Mohabbatein, Saathiya, I got fed up of them after the first 2 years. Goes on to show how the original saas bahu show is prolly the best even 23 years later. See how Anupama lost its flame 3 years later.
You just described every Ekta Kapoor serial ever. For the first few months, there will be actual storyline with some romance, comedy, family values, etc, but then it turns into a typical "Saas-bahu" drama with a typical love triangle (99.99% 2 women and 1 man). Rashmi Sharma serials on the other hand, are next level. Eg- Sasural Simar Ka - supposed to be about Simar who wishes to become a dancer even after getting married, but then turns into supernatural series with makkhis, demons, naagins, and what not.
Great video! True facts discused. One thing I would like to add, ad time during serials has also reduced a lot. Old serials from 2000 had a 18-19 min running time. Nowadays, serials run for 22-23 mins. I think this is again due to low viewership, advertisers don't want to spend money. Another thing, Sony TV tried to bring some different content in serials, but it didn't work. There were many serials on Sony TV, with different and progressive content. Even in your video, you could not show any stupid, cringe scenes from any Sony TV serial. It would be very nice if you could explain why shows in Sony TV were not successful.
Serial length is longer due to a law which restricted ad time to 12 mins per hour so 6 or 7 mins of ad for a 30 min episode. The law was passed in 2012-13

Trying to milk the cow too much gives you spoilt curd (lè me)

@@strawmanfallacy8666 The RUclips audience of P-Dramas is mostly Indian. That is the reason why just a single episode of any popular Pakistani drama gets 30-40 million+ views within a week.
@@Itsnotyourfault23 Yes I've seen that. Even popular Indian web show episodes posted on RUclips get 40-50 million views per episode. Indian population is huge, people consume all sorts of content. But even within this market, Pakistani dramas are a quite low proportion compared to other media like Indian or Western web series or even Kdramas. And majority Indians watching Pakistani drama shows are women.
@@Itsnotyourfault23 Eh you are underestimating pakistan's population. 240 million pakistanis exist. As an Indian I have literally never heard anyone mention pakistani drama to me in my life and even on internet. In fact this is the first time i'm hearing of it.
Most serials nowdays are promoting cheating and extra marital affair...2 heroines one hero, both love one boy etc. This is so regressive and irritating.
Jaise? Excluding comedy ones
Specially sister sister or cousin enemity is the most cringest.
Its not new even in most of bollywood movies 2 guys love one girl or 2 girls love same guy 😂
@@criscrosxxxYRKKH, Udaariyan, Parineeti, Suhaagan, Bhagya Lakshmi (first 300 episodes), Rabb Se Hai Dua, just to name a few
Yup so irritating.
In saas bahu serials, there's always one elder daddi who is just eternal and wont die even after her granddaughter has her granddaughter 😂.

People are becoming aware how foolish and silly the shows have become that's why people don't want to see this type of stupidity anymore
Tell the people who are bringing these types of shows to improve the quality of storytelling, characters etc
This man is really born to make history ❤ proud to be an Indian....... 🇮🇳

Thik hai mai jhut nahi bolungi bilkul bhi .... recently maine kuch 150-200 episode dekhe sasural genda phool ke joki maine apne childhood me dekh chuki thi phle bhi ....but phle sirf entertainment k lei hi dekha ....same serial jab maine 24 ki age me dekha to usse bhut kuch sikhne ko mila ki kaise vo family apna problm solve kr rhi,... hai kaise us ghar ke ladies k beech choti moti kaha suni ho jane k bad bhi bhut jaldi vo vapas normal ho jati hai ......kaise suhana ki bahut sari galtiya undekha kr diya jata hai .....kaise suhana ek bde se family me apne aapko happily adjust krne ki kosish kr rhi hai....
Or bhi bahat kuch seekha maine ❤ (apne life se hmesa compare kia ki mai is jagah hoti to kya krti ya mere parents meri galati me kya krte ....jo jyada tar negative hi tha )
Lekin is show ne mujhe chijo ko positive lena sikha diya
You said that people want realistic content. Thats true but I also think there is one more kind of audience which want fantasy content but not the way Indian serials are portraying. Or how else kdrama, cdrama or series like Wednesday are getting popular among youths. And making of webtoons into dramas which are have fantasy and supernatural storyline.
I have an idea that I think these days. Why don't some production company in India release dramas which have only 30 episodes max like those k dramas and c dramas with creative stories. Iam sure if this idea is implemented we can achieve huge success not only in India but world wide. It will be a big success .
Indian mindset : Jab tak chalta hai chalne do.
And also some ancient shows

My mom and granny used to watch this serials. Although I never watched this kind of serials but... Somewhere I'm also missing this old family drama 😢
Man, You remembering the past days. I am from Bangladesh. My mom love hindi serials but can't understand them very well. Si, I had to stay beside her as an translator. I couldn't even watch cricket.
But thankfully now she has changed she only watch Kalkata serials.
But I still can't watch cricket at night in TV 🥲🥲
It’s true that tv serials nowadays are boring, but there is one serial which stands out that is one and only deivamagal, no fiction, no saas bahu issues, but shows how a woman can go more dark😮. No wonder it’s trp is still high even today
My father tells me that they had great shows when he was small - byomkesh bakshi, flop show, malgudi days which were entertaining and gave moral lessors as well
I watched them as well. Humlog, buniyad, malgudi days and of course ramayan and mahabharat
Saas bahu serials failed because of it's generic storyline and regressive plot-points. Since the rise if international content, we saw different stories, genres and more realistic characters. Not black-magic, harry potter and Gopi bahu melodrama with mandatory dhoom-tannna and replaying of slaps in 1000 different angles.
To add on to this streaming platforms have made consuming entertainment easier as we can watch our favourite shows and movies anywhere, anytime without any interruptions
Dhoom tana tana is important 😂😂😂 considering indian rural population these serials are important
They should have failed atleast 10 years back🤦🏽♀️ My family legit stopped watching TV because of this.
Also you forgot , they showing these tv serial ladies roaming at home in trendy sarees n clothes, with heavy makeup n heels 😂 , ghar me bhi heels dalke ghoomte hai! I wonder how they can show them with heels n makeup even at home.
