I'd like to make it clear that I no longer personally agree with the final message in this video. I was naïve and mistaken on American politics.

As a Greek, I have to say the Greek Guerilla War is really underrated (that is its original title. It was baptized "Civil" many years later, due to political correctness). Read Mine Were of Trouble by Peter Kemp about a year ago. Incredible first-hand account of the war. Kemp was British and volunteered to fight for the nationalist side under Franco, and fought through 37-39. I believe he was with the Requetes, and then the Spanish Foreign Legion. It provided an insight into the war that not many are familiar with, and it truly captures the horror and chaos of that war.
Or for a non-fascist perspective, read George Orwell's Homage to Catalonia. Orwell was there supporting the Workers Party of Marxist Unification of the Republicans.

Daniel Cuevas oddly enough? Why wouldn’t George Orwell fight on the republican side?
You know Orwell was a democratic socialist, right?
He was a communist is why
Hemingway too, though he was supposed be there for journalistic purposes, it's believed he we mightve been doing a little more than just that. Still no surprise however, since the republican side had the backing of the US Army
@@nodnoc I am pretty sure that the international brigades were not official representatives of their states, but the fact that pretty much all of these people never reference the communist atrocities is an absolute shite
my great grandfather was a republican in the spanish civil war, I love that country and so did he. That war was a war for who he was not about communism or anarchism (he was neither) He fought in Madrid when the rest of the world wouldnt. he defended his home sometimes with bar none. recalling stories of him protecting a building from grenades by launching them back with a bed sheet. And even after all that the city fell and he was taken prisoner, but that wouldnt stop him, 3 times they tried to excecute him and three times he escaped, and in the end was able to be evacuated by american boats. This war is so important to me and my family, thank you for talking about it
some of my family too, but some of them didn't survive :(, bloody war

My great grandfather escaped from a concentration camp in the Aragonese Pyrenees after the Ebro battle. He got home before the fall of Barcelona and managed to keep a low profile. My other great grands actually fled to Southern France but were killed in a bombardment by the Luftwaffe against civilian factories. It was a bloody war with no real victors.
Aquitale My greatgrandfather fought in the nationalist side
"You couldn't just disagree with someone, you had to silence them" -hey, that's familiar and currently popular approach! :D
@JohnACorp782 Especially from the right .. such as the Contras and Guarimbas in Nicaragua and Venezuela who murder anyone who disagrees with them, terrorized those countries and throw violent hissyfits because Ortega and Maduro remain popular with the majority of the people. Or like Bolsonaro and his supporters in Brazil who are threatening (and have murdered) LGBTQ activists and politicians and going after Glenn Greenwald for exposing the corruption of Bolsonaro's regime and illegal persecution of Lula. Or like the Anti-BDS bill here in the U.S. which goes against the 1st amendment.
@JohnACorp782 What a brilliant response.
@JohnACorp782 America has committed genocide against the natives, was the inspiration for Nazi race policies, and suffers from extensive institutional racism and oppression. Admitting any of this is politically incorrect despite it being obvious to every single subject matter expert.

@JohnACorp782 Say where I'm wrong. Say the natives weren't systematically exterminated, or the Nazis didn't take inspiration from Jim crow laws, or there isn't a 20:1 wealth disparity between white and black families.
Franco ruled Spain for almost 40 years, and that makes him the dictator that has last for more time in power.
He was kinda clever. The king of Morocco said he rather have a toothache than an interview with Franco. One time, he was speaking with him for almost four hours and, after that time, Franco said: look, what you are telling to me cant be possible, and if it can be possible, lets have dinner, Im hungry. Same happened with Hitler. Hitler tryed to convince franco to fight in the WWII, so they met one day. Franco arrived 3 hours after Hitler did, and despaired him so much, he make hitler say: OKAY DONT FIGHT, FUCK YOU.
Franco was wise enough to realize throwing himself in with the Axis powers was a death wish.
Franco hated the idea of Masonic-Judeo control, he succeeded because he erratically ousted all form of propaganda that played against traditonal Spain. Hitler and Franco were similar, is just that Hitler directly exterminated the source while Franco killed converted subverts who believe in state anarchy.
Las Vegas Boxing Channel the “source” being majority peasant farmers and laborers?

@@kayt9627 what group in Europe introduced Marxism? Your answer.
The video is mostly accurate and really informative, but in my opinion, what really doomed Alfonso XIII's reign was his acceptance of Miguel Primo de Rivera's dictatorship from 1923 to 1930. He was a fascist dictator who came to power after a coup, but oddly enough decided to keep the king, Alfonso XIII, instead of becoming the sole leader of Spain. After Primo de Rivera stepped down in 1930, the king tried to mantain the status quo and named other dictators, but failed. He then decided to hold elections, and realising he had lost the support of the people in the major cities, he exiled himself without abdicating the throne in 1931.

Cool vid , but I feel as if Italy's and Germany's part in the war was underplayed , they did have 300 000 fascist troops go through the country , kind of an important factor . Italy and Germany sent a lot more than just ships and a few volunteers.
so did the soviets
@@ismaelsanchez5011 True, they did, but much much less. 3,015 Soviet technicians and
772 Soviet pilots was much less than what was delivered by the Luftwaffe's Condor Legion alone. You must agree the Soviet Union is quite far away and was under a lot of diplomatic pressure. Victor Almohalla Why would anyone engage in discourse with a communist?

I think we are one economic crisis, natural disaster or famine away from a similar civil war here in the US.
