Haven’t shot the elite combat, but I have shot the Canik TP9 and FN 509 Tactical and the trigger on just the base TP9 is worlds better than the 509, Canik produces some high quality firearms at a fraction of the cost of other manufacturers. Great video KS!
because its made in Turkey, in Turkeywe have lower employee costs and quality materials are much cheaper than EU or USA so they can lower their price point. Also they are trying to make a name and cutting the price. Buy it while its cheap, it will get higher soon once they make their name heard
Great comparison. I just added a Canik TP9 elite tactical to my collection to replace my previous ccw. So far I love it. It came with a Vortex viper and between that and the Salient barrel you basically get the rest of the gun for nearly free. Mine came 1/2x28 out of the box so I wanted to point out that Canik offers 2 thread pitch options, 1 being the metric 13mm x (I can't remember) and the SAE 1/2 x 28. Just throwing that out there.
I went with the Canik. I don’t regret getting it and am very pleased with it. I’m sure the 509 is a great pistol too and I understand why there is a price difference. My Elite Combat is a great pistol and your video helped me decide on which one to buy.
I own this Canik and I absolutely love it!! I also own a Canik tp9 sf elite wth Odgreen slide which is my edc gun. Ive tried and owned all the big names but i always came back to my Caniks... imo Canik hands down!!!
Picked up the Combat Executive today. Has standard threads. But I love the Canik. Picked it over a VP9. Only company that I know of that can compete with Canik as far as trigger is Walther.
That combat executive is just a beautiful gun the amazing trigger just makes it that much sweeter plus they changed the thread pitch to the more common (in the U.S.) 1/2x28.
You did a great thing picking it over the vp9,I shot a tp9sf elite compact along side my vp9sk and the canik was better by alot Shot way way better. Not necessarily accuracy but recoil and staying on target was way softer and better with the canik. Both shot perfect with o malfunctions. I ended up trading the Vp9sk for a cz p10 c.
The Canik is a fantastic shooter. I don't have an FN, nor have I ever shot one, but the trigger and sights for the Canik will change the mind of anyone who shoots it. It amazes me that other companies haven't taken the trigger quality as seriously as Canik. Walther has a great trigger as well, but none of the others in the striker fire market have done so. Until the others get on board, I'll be hard pressed to buy anything else. I have three full sized Caniks, but the Elite Combat is on my Christmas list. I can't wait to get my hands on it and throw some lead down range.
That trigger alone on Canik blows that FN out of the water. Even with trigger upgrade 509 still has a long reset travel vs Canik's stock trigger. Much like most FN's other products 509 is overpriced at least by $200 in my opinion.
The prices are the same on both pistols Except you can get the FN for that price with a basic optic on it from Cabela’s/bass pro Not only that the Canik has about a mile of spongey take up on its “awesome trigger”
@@tedpendagast579 I respectfully disagree. Price of FN 509 is around $900. At least that’s what I’ve been seeing. On the other hand, I got my Canik TP9SF Combat Elite for below $700. So that’s at least $200 difference give or take. But that’s not even the real difference maker. The real difference is industry leading among (striker fire pistols) Canik’s legendary trigger. No way FN’s stock trigger can do better than Canik. And I’m not the only one who says this. Pretty everyone who has any experience with Caniks can confirm this.
@@SOBIsHobbies just about everyone raving about the trigger are one of ten million New gun owners Prices right now 999 at Cabela’s for a 509 tactical with sight And $900 for a combat elite without a sight Not last year Not a few months ago when you bought your gun Right now
@@tedpendagast579 so that means it’s a testament to Canik’s continuous success since their prices are gradually going up. I remember these Caniks could’ve been gotten for around $600 not in too distant past. Meanwhile 509 has always been selling around $1000 since its inception or maybe even more. Out of most FN owners I know how much overpriced FN products are. I own several of their higher end products (SCAR 16S, 17S, 20S and FNX 45 Tactical). I own them because well… because I can. But that doesn’t go without saying that in average their products are overpriced by 20%. Not saying they’re unreliable or unworthy, not at all (otherwise I wouldn’t have owned them myself). However, I wouldn’t refrain myself from saying that they’re absolutely overpriced by at least 20%. With all that said if it was my OWN money and if I could buy only one I would go with Canik everyday and twice on Sundays. And I always recommend Canik to everyone who wants to get best bang for their hard earned bucks.
At the opening of your video the way you said ehhh about the canik made me think you was going with the 509... glad you made the right chose 😂😂 love my canik
I just got a new Canik TP9 SF Elite and I can't say enough about my trigger. I love it. It's just as light as my Single Action Army was before I sold it and I truly appreciate that about it.
I just brought the tp9da home last Monday and already put 1k rounds through it. All different types of ammo from cheap steel and aluminum to the higher prices bras and hollow points not a single issue so far. Only problem with it is the horrible grip. I hate plastic stippling so I had to put rubber grip tape on those areas. Made it so much better
I have an FN 509T and my friend has multiple Caniks, to me what stands out the most between them is that Caniks have among the absolute best striker fired triggers on the market (like unbelievably good) while the FN 509 has literally the worst trigger I've ever used. I can be almost as accurate with the 509T as I am with the Caniks, but oh man it's way harder.
I just bought a Canik Elite Combat and I was pretty happy with the purchase, but after watching review video, after review video it's been all positive, I'm really excited and can't wait to get it to the range.
Love the detail of the video, though I’m not sure that choosing the Canik “as a range toy” really abides by what I would expect of the “if I could only have one” philosophy - if I can only have one, it will answer multiple roles
The concept isn't "if I could only have one gun". It's "if I could only choose one of the two being reviewed"; not that I can't have additional guns, I just don't get to have both the FN and the Canik. It's just a made up game for fun :)
I just bought the canik sfx rival trophy for right at 680 with tax and the amount of extras it comes with is insane ordered a Wasatch compensator for it also beyond excited to take it to the range
The canik rival black out version comes with 5 optic plates, with one having iron sights so you can keep your co-witness. They run around $630, and have an even better trigger. I love mine.
I am very pleased with my FN 509T with a Trijicon RMR and an Inforce light. Runs great, easy to shoot, and it carries very well in my IWB rig by ProTEQ Custom gear. Not knocking Canik, but the FN suits me well, with the factory trigger. For me, the 24 round mags were a great selling point. I removed the sleeve from one so I could more easily carry it with a NeoMag. To me, with all the nonsense that's been happening, capacity is a significant consideration.
For me it would be the Canuck in every situation! I can’t see paying $250 more for the FN then having to purchase a new trigger just to get the performance close to the Canuck. Buying a third Canuck mag is a lot cheaper to even the mag count. While FN’s are nice weapons overall they are just too pricey for what they are. The Canuck just smokes all the sub $1,000 pistols and I’m getting my Combat Executive next week !
I actually just picked a 509T up last night but they changed things up and no longer comes with a third magazine nor does it come with the 21 lb spring if you wanted to run a suppressor. So now it just comes with the 17 and 24 round magazine and the two back straps which isn't a deal-breaker but having extra mags always is a plus
My buddy got the same deal and shortly thereafter I was looking for fn tact at LGS I had the FN in my hand ready to buy when LGS owner says “have you held the canik?” And the rest is history got my tp9 EC for 659.99 and can’t wait to show my buddy this video!
Anyone that can watch your videos and say that you're biased in any way is in need of a mental eval. Lol. Another great one buddy. Thanks for all you do.
LOL, loved the beginning intro! MMM I think the features of the 509 for only $200 more seals the deal. Suppressor height night sights, Co-witness ability and magazines doe it for me.
On Texas gun trader I’ve seen plenty of 509’s tactical as well for sale. I haven’t seen nearly the same amount for the elite/executive combat. Numbers don’t lie
Great comparison. I’ve heard the 509 trigger is a disappointment from two other good sources. Thanks for the honest review. I have a TP9SFX and a PPQ long-slide. It’s hard to have a favorite between the two. Canik has really produced some great and affordable guns that match up to guns in much higher price ranges. Good day.
I had just bought the 509, before watching this video. I agree about the trigger, I'll be changing mine out, (I'm on hold & don't have it in hand yet) but the trigger was something I noticed while examining for purchase (not the worst trigger, but can be better)...Other than that, through Bass Pro, the one I've purchased, comes with a Vortex Venom Red Dot ($225), already mounted & for $999....& yes, with the red dot attached, You can use the iron sites... The 509 is a big gun that feels really good in the hand, not really a CCW for someone my size ...the Canik has to be a Hog Leg of a gun, it's definitely bigger all the way around... FN 509 is produced right here in the good ole USA...No knock on Canik, but I'm a Homer, not a Turk supporter... I can live with my purchase, even though I could've save a couple hundred buckaroos. The video would have influenced me none, although it did open my eyes to another great product & the fierce fight for excellence when it comes to great quality firearms.
For a range gun many the Canik. I own one of each. For every day carry it's no brainier for me 509m just not really ready to trust my life with my caniks yet. fan has been a proven manufacturer for years serving military and law enforcement for years
that's a cool mistake between these two from " the proven" point. Investigate Nato compliance norms and who prooves it then let us talk again. Also, it is not a self proven sidearm that the 2nd biggest army of Nato uses it. Range gun LOL. Also you own them. Comeooon
Good fair review of the two. I'm one of the suggesters for the topic. I have a TPS SFX and my trigger was a bit gritty. I polished everything and now it is better than my Walther PPQ Q4 trigger. I would have to go with the Canik.
Just picked up the Canik TP9 elite combat. New ($699 Mar 22’) and love it. Had to have it just because of the trigger, and mag release. Out the box feels as good as a loaded aftermarket competition gun.
You know I made my first firearm purchase Not too long ago and it Was the 509 tactical and its my carry gun. I take on look at it and I'm like your such a beauty lol.
I think it would’ve been a more even comparison if you would’ve either left 509’s trigger stock, or if you’d given the Canik the benefit of one aftermarket upgrade as well if you wanted to use the apex in the 509. Maybe some Talon Grips perhaps?
you cant use it in the way it was made for. Almost no one has a left hand twist on their suppressors, if you put a red dot on it you lose your backup sight, If you don't put a red dot on it you cant see over your suppressor to know what your shooting and 1 extended mag.. what is that? after buying the suppressor adapter changing the sights and buying an extra extended range mag your looking at more then what you can get a 509 for.
I have large hands and the Canik doesnt fit naturally for me. I like the looks of the Canik but the adaptability of the 509 with the more natural grip is why I bought the 509 for my first gun.
$850!!! At the last SAXET (Texas) gun show I went to in January 2020 I found them for under $500. But they were all black and all 9mm. I prefer the 40cal but theyre hard to find.
If I could have only 1... Personally, I would go 509... Both are very nice and pretty comparable, aesthetics are also important and the FN just looks better to me.

Haven’t shot the elite combat, but I have shot the Canik TP9 and FN 509 Tactical and the trigger on just the base TP9 is worlds better than the 509, Canik produces some high quality firearms at a fraction of the cost of other manufacturers. Great video KS!
I totally agree about the triggers Jake! Thank you and cheers brother!
because its made in Turkey, in Turkeywe have lower employee costs and quality materials are much cheaper than EU or USA so they can lower their price point.
Do you cc chambered ?
I went with the Canik. I don’t regret getting it and am very pleased with it. I’m sure the 509 is a great pistol too and I understand why there is a price difference. My Elite Combat is a great pistol and your video helped me decide on which one to buy.
I’ve heard when you narrate you need to pretend you’re talking to children….you are spot on!
Trigger is everything for me, I have to go with Canik. I'm looking to get one. I have the TP9Sfx
I just purchased a tp9sfx this week
How is tp9sfx
I have both and love them both. FN is over priced for the similar/same functions. Canik is an up and comer, but I'm in with it.
I own this Canik and I absolutely love it!! I also own a Canik tp9 sf elite wth Odgreen slide which is my edc gun. Ive tried and owned all the big names but i always came back to my Caniks... imo Canik hands down!!!
Same it’s my first gun and have no problems at all
I love the canik also. I also love Sig and h&k. But that Canik is🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🦾🦾🦾🦾
Just got the Combat Executive Elite with the Vortex optic brand new for $547 shipped….I love both brands b/c my 509CC Edge is also amazing
Walther does have great triggers!
Quality over vp9 fit finish polymer quality
Canik makes a lot of walther internal parts
You did a great thing picking it over the vp9,I shot a tp9sf elite compact along side my vp9sk and the canik was better by alot
Shot way way better.
Not necessarily accuracy but recoil and staying on target was way softer and better with the canik.
Both shot perfect with o malfunctions.
I ended up trading the Vp9sk for a cz p10 c.
Just got my Canik elite combat executive, no one dislikes this gun, including me.
Please do one with the Springfield Armory XDM Elite Tactical Optics ready.
The prices are the same on both pistols
Except you can get the FN for that price with a basic optic on it from Cabela’s/bass pro
Not only that the Canik has about a mile of spongey take up on its “awesome trigger”
@@SOBIsHobbies just about everyone raving about the trigger are one of ten million
New gun owners
Prices right now
999 at Cabela’s for a 509 tactical with sight
And $900 for a combat elite without a sight
Not last year
Not a few months ago when you bought your gun
Right now
@@tedpendagast579 so that means it’s a testament to Canik’s continuous success since their prices are gradually going up.
@@SOBIsHobbies not a combat elite
At the opening of your video the way you said ehhh about the canik made me think you was going with the 509... glad you made the right chose 😂😂 love my canik
CANIK is the winner as usual

Ive sold or traded my Sig, m&p and Cz handguns. Ive have tp9sfx, tp9 elite, tp9sc elite. They are most accurate, for me.
I just got a new Canik TP9 SF Elite and I can't say enough about my trigger. I love it. It's just as light as my Single Action Army was before I sold it and I truly appreciate that about it.
have a TP9DA and love it.
Right on! Thank you and cheers!
I own one too
I have an FN 509T and my friend has multiple Caniks, to me what stands out the most between them is that Caniks have among the absolute best striker fired triggers on the market (like unbelievably good) while the FN 509 has literally the worst trigger I've ever used. I can be almost as accurate with the 509T as I am with the Caniks, but oh man it's way harder.
I picked up a TP9 elite Combat brand new for $640. That ended the conversation for me.
Justin R. Where at brother?
Picked up 509 Tac for $700
I just got a 509 tac for the same price a few days ago.
@@SelectNation702 where did you find one that cheap?
I_am_sme11y i got it on grabagun.com and requested a quote for a cheaper price, and it went down.
This was prior to Covid prices lol
Just picked up the new version of the Canik, it has a 1/2" x 28 thread on it now, looks like Canik pays attention to what we are saying.
Same here. I was thrilled to find out my can went right on without needing a special adapter.
Agree completely. Have shot both and prefer the Canik...in fact just bought the Canik. It's a great shooter!
That's awesome and congrats on the new Canik! Thank you and cheers!
The intro music legit made me think of Ram Ranch
FN is my pic as I own one! Thanks for another great video!
Happy New Year!
It’s a grea gun indeed! Happy New Year to you as well brother. Cheers!
I just bought a Canik Elite Combat and I was pretty happy with the purchase, but after watching review video, after review video it's been all positive, I'm really excited and can't wait to get it to the range.
One important thing - do they fixed firing pin breakages? I hope yes...
Old video. The canik thread barrel is 🇺🇸 standard now. 1/2 - 28 RH thread.has been for over a year.
Canik is the winner, no doubt about it !
Just picked up the Canik. I really appreciate that they listened and fixed the thread pitch and got rid of the Sherpa style holster. That trigger...
Got a 509c, no complaints. I guess ill have to add a canik to my collection.
I love my combat. The barrel the trigger is freaking awesome. It is super accurate as well
The Canik makes me proud to be Turkish
@U S A says the American, lmao
@@yurauro1900 turkish brand bro. Pronounce: janic
The canik rival black out version comes with 5 optic plates, with one having iron sights so you can keep your co-witness. They run around $630, and have an even better trigger. I love mine.
Both great guns, money saved by buying the Canik means more ammo and range time
Shooter Industries yep that’s what assholes do
I agree about the money saved. Thank you and cheers!
Splurged for the goodies and got the inforce? That’s a swing and a miss.
@@nickstalker3254 truthfully, yeah, im thinking about putting a new light on it, it is the weakest part of the setup. Recommendations?
For me it would be the Canuck in every situation! I can’t see paying $250 more for the FN then having to purchase a new trigger just to get the performance close to the Canuck. Buying a third Canuck mag is a lot cheaper to even the mag count. While FN’s are nice weapons overall they are just too pricey for what they are. The Canuck just smokes all the sub $1,000 pistols and I’m getting my Combat Executive next week !
Canuck? I love Canadian firearms!!!
I got my 509 tactical for $620 after taxes online. Brand new. Gun prime.
Fuck me I just bought mine for 800 flat and i thought i got a deal
Definitely beats the Canik at that price
My buddy got the same deal and shortly thereafter I was looking for fn tact at LGS I had the FN in my hand ready to buy when LGS owner says “have you held the canik?” And the rest is history got my tp9 EC for 659.99 and can’t wait to show my buddy this video!
Wow I spent almost 1000 after taxes at a shop🤦🏾♂️
I call BS.
Anyone that can watch your videos and say that you're biased in any way is in need of a mental eval. Lol. Another great one buddy. Thanks for all you do.
Thank you very much Jon! That truly means a lot brother. Cheers!
Another great entry in the series! With a surprise ending
Thank you CK! I was frankly a bit surprised as well, lol. Cheers!
The trigger prevents me from parting with the Canik, even though I've decided it won't be my carry gun. The trigger is just TOO good. Perfect, even.
LOL, loved the beginning intro! MMM I think the features of the 509 for only $200 more seals the deal. Suppressor height night sights, Co-witness ability and magazines doe it for me.
Thanks C! I do agree that the FN is fully loaded and at the right deal, a very good bargain. Well said. Cheers!
I bought the Canik tp 9 ec because my local shop didnt have the FN and I'm glad I did. It is the only handgun I shoot atm
Look up Taylor Freelance for all your Canik upgrade needs. You're welcome in advance 😏
the canik trigger is easily a 200 dollar trigger and feels amazing and you can find the Canik for around 650 now.
I got one 623 shipped imagine that. 😍 picking it up Saturday but shot it today. 50 rounds perfect super accurate.

Canik Combat power
On Texas gun trader I’ve seen plenty of 509’s tactical as well for sale. I haven’t seen nearly the same amount for the elite/executive combat. Numbers don’t lie
Great comparison. I’ve heard the 509 trigger is a disappointment from two other good sources. Thanks for the honest review. I have a TP9SFX and a PPQ long-slide. It’s hard to have a favorite between the two. Canik has really produced some great and affordable guns that match up to guns in much higher price ranges. Good day.
Thank you! Yes, the FN trigger is pretty rough, although the Apex helps. I agree about Canik. Cheers!
The Trigger on the 509 Tac...
SUCKS..
At that price it should have an amazing Trigger.
Ill be Trading my 509Tac for a Canik
Dude, other than price? This in itself is a huge factor. Good video, thanks for taking the time, a nice polished production."
Price can definitely be a factor my friend. Thank you and cheers!
I have both, you are spot on in your evaluation.
Comeooon
Agree 💯 w you…am buying the Canik because of the accuracy and shooting experience.
Good fair review of the two. I'm one of the suggesters for the topic. I have a TPS SFX and my trigger was a bit gritty. I polished everything and now it is better than my Walther PPQ Q4 trigger. I would have to go with the Canik.
Thank you very much! Glad you got your SFX tuned up. They really are great guns, especially considering the price. Cheers brother!
Just picked up the Canik TP9 elite combat. New ($699 Mar 22’) and love it. Had to have it just because of the trigger, and mag release. Out the box feels as good as a loaded aftermarket competition gun.
FN takes the win for me, after EDCing the FNX 45 I need a 509T.
I agree I love the elite
You know I made my first firearm purchase Not too long ago and it Was the 509 tactical and its my carry gun. I take on look at it and I'm like your such a beauty lol.
Between these two the FN for me ALL THE WAY !!!
Right on! Thank you and cheers!
I think it would’ve been a more even comparison if you would’ve either left 509’s trigger stock, or if you’d given the Canik the benefit of one aftermarket upgrade as well if you wanted to use the apex in the 509. Maybe some Talon Grips perhaps?
Sometimes I have to work with what I’ve got. Thank you and cheers!
Agreed!
Upgrade for upgrade when comparing, even if they are differing upgrades, keep it one hunnet.
FN 509's brass (golden shower) is annoying. Canik walks all over FN 509.
Bought the regular SF for around $300 a year ago. I’ve been nothing but happy. I try to EDC it and I need something smaller
Nice comparison, nice Gus, for me I will go for the FN
Very cool! Thank you and cheers!
You've always been honest in your reviews. I prefer the FN though. Nice job as always.
Thank you Keanon! Both are great for sure. That Canik is a hell of a shooter though. Cheers brother!
The Canik elite..a gun so elite that no one uses it..
Except for those that do, lol. Thank you and cheers!
@@KSGunGuy01 it is gaining popularity at shooting matches...I just worry about spare parts
Lol no one serious anyways
you cant use it in the way it was made for.
RockHumper I got one, my edc!
I have large hands and the Canik doesnt fit naturally for me. I like the looks of the Canik but the adaptability of the 509 with the more natural grip is why I bought the 509 for my first gun.
Canik ♥️♥️♥️
No shame in that! The FN is a great gun indeed. Thank you and cheers!
Everything the canik checks out.
If I could only have one, it's FN.
Canik is the BEST...
Thanks a lot for your detailed review.
