Thanks Roy. I do a lot of DIY repair using RUclips for my teaching platform, and I must say that was the best repair video I have ever seen! Informative, well spoken. Thank you.
I never realized the micro USB ports could be replaced! This is a GREAT tutorial as my mrs has a Reolink solar-powered camera which needs repairing. Now i know how ;) Thanks buuuuuddy!
My PC's water pump module has a micro USB for RGB settings that the previous owner must have damaged or came loose from factory. This is EXACTLY the video I needed to help guide me to replace the micro USB. Thanks so much!!!
After you hearted my comment it gave me confidence to carry out the repair and I've fixed stuff with solder before but not this tiny so happy to have succeeded with my first Micro USB port solder repair, your video helped me out a lot and answered burning questions about wait what pin do I need as its just a coffee warmer thank you no need for data lol :) I sort of knew what my issue was as my uneven wooden floor would slightly move the cable and sometimes coffee warmer would go off / damaging the micro USB port with cables weight putting even more pressure so it was kind of just lifted off from its two connection points/pins on the pcb so I just added a tinny bit of new solder and also I was using a wrong micro USB cable with extra long head so it was sticking out / putting extra pressure i messed it up myself then also fixed it myself, moral of the story use correct size plug/port and about uneven surface/delicate items only use magnetic plugs ;) they're sooo good i recommend essager/ ugreen on aliexpress.
Micro usb type B (which is used in most electronics these days) always have 5 pins and they are the most important. The side "legs" on the body are usually there to hold things in place so you don't rip the pins off cause they're very delicate.
You can use normal glue but only a small drop and make sure it's not blocking the places what we need to solder. You also can use tape but it's not gonna be strong. Soldering is recommended. And if you don't have it then use hot glue instead
It's about time we start fixing our stuff and not throwing stuff away giving away money. I have 3 pairs of ASTRO A20s that are fucked because either the transmitter or micro USB inlet some how broke
Nice video. Thank you. Those are the exact charging port I need to fix a Kobo Vox ebook reader. I didnt catch the part number/name though and your link sends me to multiple products. Help please, sir! :)
so im 14 and my tablet aint charging and i dont know what to do the charging port is damage and i think it will cost a lot for it to be fixed so is it possible to charge without charger? oh and it's amazon fire7
I am unable to do this as i possess neither the tools or the knowledge. Could you please me fix my broken micro usb on my portable speaker? Or could you please direct me to a place where I can I have it done I Bangalore? This is a generic speaker with lights and controls.
For your case. It would've been easier to buy a battery charger for the 18650s and an extra set of batteries. Speaking as someone who vapes with 18650s. For my case it doesn't have an external removable battery.

It's actually a *Micro* USB. Which is not B or C. It's the worst possible choice to use as an industry standard. They should have used Mini USB. Much more robust.
Dropped mine in the toilet, also the micro usb got stuck in the jack and I had to apply a lot of pressure to it. I can't even seen out to open my Phone. J7 Crown

Thank you! Very instructive and useful, (plus straightforward). :)
Well Done! Port drop like a boss @ 3:39
That was wonderfully simple and well explained, thank you
Wow! I didn't expect a full proper circuit board inside 😂
Usually, that kind of repair requires a Shaolin monk's patience and the risk of making it much worse (I speak from experience, ugh!).
Well said
just did my first soldering ever and it was a success! thanks :)
You make soldering look easy
Thank you so much for explaining what each pin does, so for a coffee warmer device micro USB port replacement i just need to worry about pin 1 and 5?

Very helpful Roy, thank you ! 😁👍🏻

Where do you get the spare USB to replace for your aegis mini mod device
great video. How did you figure out which type of micro usb socket you needed though? there are so many different types.
Micro usb type B (which is used in most electronics these days) always have 5 pins and they are the most important. The side "legs" on the body are usually there to hold things in place so you don't rip the pins off cause they're very delicate.
Does the usb need to soldered down, or could I super glue it down?

How do u solder to this kind of precision? U had to enlarge the clip, but how do u do that from ur end using nare eyes? 😮
4:56 why does it say positive on the black wire and negative on the red wire.
Well, its all depends where the wire connected, because you can use black wire a positive or negative. The same to the red color
Thanks! Well done video.
Yo bro what kind of screwdriver are you using I need one in my life ?
I use a "precision screwdriver set" It has 6-12 tiny screwdrivers. In Finland a box costs 2€ - 5€. ($ 2 - $ 5)
