This may not fix every phone out there, but it has worked for my own and friends.
If it didn't work for you then I'm sorry, you may have to take it for repairs.
But if I saved you the repair consider clicking the Thanks button as it helps me to keep making videos 👍

But when is about a very shaky USB type c port and needs to have a specific position to charge means that the pins are dead or needs replacement? Some other easy option? Thanks!

I was about ready to buy a new phone. My cable would not stay in and was loose and I couldn't charge my phone. I found this video and gave it a chance and I am amazed. I could not believe all of the dust and stuff that came out of that small plug in. Now my phone cable snaps in and stays like it's new. Finally, I can charge my phone. Thank you very much for this video !

For those not wanting to shave down a toothpick, flosspicks are the perfect width, pokeyness, are non-metallic and have the little 'hook' at the end for grabbing pesky lint for this purpose.

Don't do it,it's a trap. I had one & it put a bend in my charging port because the cover pushes down on the cord. Much simpler just to keep cleaning it out. If you're going to be in a dusty environment put your phone in bag, like a waterproof case or zip lock bag.

Thanks man! I tried this multiple times on different devices and it never really worked. I read a comment here saying it took 30 minutes or more, so I decided to really put some time in it. After a long session of poking and gently scraping, I did see multiple really small bits of lint fly out the port or they were stuck on the tip. They weren't as satisfyingly big as in your video, and I even started to doubt if my OnePlus 5T's port was made from metal on the bottom. It really looked like everything was cleaned out.
I just kept pokin' that port... Sure enough, my phone can hang from it's cable again and dash charging gets recognized immediately.
Years ago I even bricked my old HTC M8 since I moved over to a piece of metal to scrape the port. Although it's not really recommended, people still mention it. NEVER use metals to pick that port folks. A toothpick like in this video does work, 100% Take your time.
    THANKSSSSSSS

    • @camshand
      @camshand  4 года назад +3

thats great to hear! it can be super packed in there so you were right to just keep scraping.
it's so rewarding when you can dangle it from the cable once again haha!
And yeah dang, I told a friend to use this toothpick method, and he goes "I used a pin, worked great" little did he know how dangerous of a game he was playing 🎲

Thank you so much for your suggestion of shaving down a tooth pick. I have a OP 6T that I've had since launch and the charge port has become so loose it was very difficult to get the cable to stay in even when laying flat on a table. It had a LOT of wiggle to the cord and I was worried the connector inside the port was damaged, I had tried multiple USB C cables.
I had tried using a tooth pick and was able SOME of the gunk out. I hadn't thought of trimming it down to be thinner so it could reach in the curved sides.
Thanks to your guide I now have a perfect snap when I plug in my cable, and the phone can hang upside down from the cable with no wiggle.

Amazing. Thought my phone was just getting old, but this did the trick. I am guessing that the dust just gets compressed over time, causing the problem. I was also having issues with my headphone jack not always giving great connections, so I used the same approach there and pulled out almost as much lint as my charge port. Thanks so much!

Just to add my experience. I couldn't see much inside the port, but kept picking at it. Realised that there were tiny bits of grit stuck inside. Toothpicks were not strong enough. I know people say don't use them but I used plastic coated paper clips. I also didn't care too much about the phone as it is cracked anyway. I picked at it with the phone switched off. All worked really well after about 30 to 60 minutes of picking away. Now charges perfectly again! Thanks for the video. 👍

You are loosing views because people that start to play your video in offices (or any shared space) have to stop your video because your background music is turning people's offices in dance parties while its being played.
It really would be nice if we could hear your instructions without your music blaring out our speakers just as loud - PLEASE TURN DOWN THE BACKGROUND MUSIC LEVEL WHEN YOU MIX YOUR AUDIO IN WHILST YOU'RE SPEAKING - you mixed it in nearly as loud as your voice from the video file. Please mix background music in at 15%, at most, while you are speaking in the video. When you're not speaking (if you feel you MUST have loud music you can then increase the music's level and you won't cause people to have to stop watching your video because the entire office has become a discotheque.

Pro-tip - just tighten your power drill down on one end of the toothpick, sandwich the pick in sandpaper (grit in toward the wood), and turn the drill on to quickly sand the toothpick down to size - no knife needed, much easier! You'll obviously need to do something about the sawdust that is produced, but you should be able to clean that off with some alcohol.

Easy enough I thought I needed a new USB-C port for my phone. But after doing these steps it seems to work fine again - I used a throw away Chinese take-out food chopstick instead but it worked, just more shaving. Tons of lint inside the port, now the cable grabs on tight again. Much appreciated!

I know this is an old video but the advice still works like a charm, for a year I have been shoving my phone up against stuff to get it to charge, after 10 or 15 minutes with this method, I plugged it in and got that click sound of it locking in, hadn't heard or seen that in so long, I had almost forgot about it, as a bonus now the wired android auto in my car works too.

great video thank you so much...now my connection is solid! my phone feels new again...the part of the video that really helped was when you said something like "if you see its all shiny in there, then you did it right" once you said that, i grabbed my desk light and peered right into that port with proper lighting and saw exactly what the problem was....dirt had collected heavily on the narrow sides of the port, not so much throughout the long sides of the port...got my tooth pick and started digging..took more force than i thought but kept it under that light and voila...more dirt and crud falling out of that port...i wish i did a slow mo montage of the dirt falling out...would've been glorious..have a great day...my channel does sheet metal maybe i can give back to you by sharing my channel
