- How to fix a charger port which won’t connect using a simple cleaning method.
If you are having issues with your lightning, micro-USB or USB-C charger port where it won’t charge, or it keeps connecting and disconnecting, then cleaning the lint and dirt out with a toothpick might help you fix this problem.
In this video, I fix my iPhone 6S by clearing out a surprising amount of dirt and dust from the charger port.
Note - take care when using this or any other cleaning method. Do not use liquid or anything metallic.

This does actually work! No visible debris came out of my phone but I brushed along metal connectors and phone has started charging again. I didn't have a toothpick so improvised with a wooden skewer and it seems to have worked. up to 18%, fingers crossed this sorts it! Thank you Pete!

Such an absolute life saviour! I’m an automotive technician so my phone tends to get dirty, lol occasionally I’ll clean my port out with compressed air and a pic, never got good results until now, a simple tooth pic go figure.

I guess folks only look for this sort of repair in times of desperation. I did, and was I glad I found it. I hoiked out gobs of lint and other stuff that was clearly (in hindsight) stopping my charging lead from entering the port. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

This worked for a set of airpod pro that I had given up on and replaced two years ago. Used the toothpick and there was what looks like a wood chip in the port. We were clearing our land around that time so that makes sense. Now I have two working sets. Thank you!

Guys full tip and a lesson: never play with your phone while charging... and make sure your cord is straight and not bend while u charge it (and put airplane mode for fast charging)

Just did this thinking i'd need to upgrade from my perfectly fine iPhone 12... It really helps to shine a bright torch inside the hole as well, and potentially use a harder object like a very thin very sharp screwdriver.
I had tried this with a toothpick but nothing would budge, after shining a head torch in there I could definitely see something that needed to come out.
A bit of light scratching, and my phone is perfect again!

Hey there. Weirdly, if you put your phone in your pocket, put it in “bottom first” so it’s less likely for crud to fall and gather in there.

My charging port isn't that dirty.. Whenever i move it doesn't charge but my charger is fine not broken at all
Must be some sort of other fault. Might need some professional help.

then it stopped altogether with any cord I tried. I went to a Verizon/iPhone dealer and they said there’s
nothing thing they could do, they suggested I could go to a 3rd parry repair service at a minimum of
$105 or I could buy a new iPhone 15. Less than 5 minutes with a toothpick and my phone is
charging & working like brand new….😊

no I’m not one of those fake bots but this actually works for me, however, this solution does not work for everyone, depending on your charger or your device.
100%. It won’t solve every issue but if you have a dirty port it can be gold.

same for me and now my ipad has completely dead but before it shows the charging symbol, however it charged for 8+ hours and didnt even go up one percent. this happened out of nowhere and I cleaned it but nothing worked
my ipad isnt that old and it has been a little broken before but literally out of nowhere it randomly stops having the ability to charge.

I've been using a wireless charger for almost a year because I thought my charging port was toast. Ordered a new phone and realized I need to backup the 200+ GB of photos etc from my "broken" phone. I somehow stumbled upon your video and my broken phone is now fixed. All my photos are being backed up as we speak. Cant thank you enough, so simple, but worked perfectly.
