Ali I just discovered what you were teaching here, kinda by accident a couple of weeks ago. I took a little shaft lean and hit more down on it than I usually did and man did I start hitting my fairway woods better, thanks for validating what I’ve seen lately

In an older video of yours you talked about feeling like you are stomping down onto your front foot at impact. That worked wonders for me, turning a weakness with fairway woods into my strength. Thank you.

Must try this at range tonight!

When you move the ball back in your stance, how do you adjust so that you are not hitting to right of the target line, since moving the ball back tends to make you hit it earlier in the swing arc and thus face and path are right of the target earlier in the swing arc, since it is before the apex of the swing arc. Do you close the clubface more to then still hit it right, but with a draw? I see many instructors talk about moving the ball forward or back in the stance, but not really mention how that changes where in the swing arc you are making contact, therefore changing the swing path at contact to be more left or right, and dont really see it mentioned how one adjusts for that, when moving the ball more forward or back. Thanks!

Thank you, nice video. Reminds me of stack and tilt a bit.

Might do but it's not actually stack and tilt.

Wondering if you have a bit of forward shaft lean

You can hit slightly down but if you prefer to sweep, the ball needs to be at the bottom of the arc, not forward since it is not on a tee and the follow through must be low as well.

OAP here -3 wood only ever off the tee - 5 wood no problem ever off the ground always goes further than 3 wood ?
Tried a lot of different options ?? Obviously am doing something wrong - not disputing your advice - but happy with the above !
( obviously will try your input ).
Think it's about age and swing speed - maybe we senior golfers need to use 😂5 and 7 woods !

It is all about swing speed. Lots of slow swingers get more distance with a 5 wood than a 3 wood because they don’t havethe clubhead speed to launch the latter on a high enough trajectory.

Wouldn't longer arms give the appearance of sweeping due to a larger swing rotation

Makes sense. Good video. I don’t need to see the flight personally!

Hitting a golf ball solid, straight, and far from the fairway with your 3 wood produces a pleasure as great as any pleasure known to exist.
To deny this claim is to admit that you just haven't hit the shot yet.
    Great video!!!

You’re just wrong about this. Jack Nicklaus, Tom Watson, Lee Trevino - three of the best ever with a fairway wood - were all sweepers of the 3 wood.

agreed … crazy taking a divot with a 3 wood and early extends in demo to rationalize a stack and tilt set up

A very SLIGHT downward swing with your 3 wood sounds about right to me.

With the greatest respect I'm not wrong. Factually they will have had a slight downward angle of attack or they would have thinned every fairway wood. This is part of the reason the greats were so good before technology, what they thought they did and actually did were different. Other players tried to copy what these players said. Now there are no secrets.

Not stack and tilt set up but if you checked how all elite ball strikers have pressure at set up you might not make such comments.

There needs to be slight downward pressure to get great consistency and length with three wood. 😉⛳️😇😊
