Venom gets a lot less scary and more likable when you read his solo comic series where it turns out he really wants whats best for people who are innocent and eventually abounds his hatred for Spiderman to become Anti-Venom, now Carnage on the other hand...
Victor Von Deathstroke Carnage is so dull. All he does is mass murder. The only time he's interesting is when the symboite possesses someone else...like Spider-Carnage.
I believe it was said somewhere that the person being possessed by the symbiote has an effect on the symbiote itself, so basically if it possesses a particularly violent person it because a particularly violent monster, and it just so happens that the carnage symbiote is possessing a particularly violent monster, to the point where in carnage usa when he lost it it didn't immediately seek him out again where as the venom symbiote sought out the person it is currently possessing who isn't that bad of a person.
Venom isn't even a villain, he just hates spiderman. I got a series where venom starts beating up the punisher because he was killing gang members. God damn it, everybody
He's a little too kill crazy to make the list. Carnage is just gonna try to murder you, but Venom's gonna hook you up to a feeding tube and slowly cover you in molten lead
You know what makes the Purple Man even scarier? The fact that Dr Doom (who could've also made the list) once used him to literally mind control (almost) the whole world.Yes, his powers were amplified by a machine but the fact that he has the potential to do that is quite frightening.
1:05 Zsasz was creepy as shit in the Arkham games. The turned on way he always says "Flesh", the story of him stalking and kidnapping Dr Cassidy in his Arkham Asylum interview tapes and the creepy laughter in his lair in Arkham City when he's about to kill 2 people.
You mention the Corinthian, but no love for Dr. Destiny? The _Sandman_ version is so completely terrifying. His one issue in the diner is just disgustingly horrific.
yusuf shaikh idk man , it’s quite close for me. Obviously Joker is the GOAT villain but Marvel all have a lot of great villains e.g. Magneto, Dr Doom, Galactus, etc...
yusuf shaikh DC has The Joker, Lex Luthor, and Darkseid. But Marvel shouldnt be overlooked when it comes to villains, as they have the likes of Dr. Doom, Magneto, and Galactus, who are great villains in their own right. But in the end, your right, DC's villains are cool as hell!
The only Comic book villain who actually gave me chills and got me a little scared was The Batman Who Laughs in his own one shot comic. That one shot was so fucking disturbing if you’re not some nihilistic edge lord.
I would have replaced Venom with Carnage cause with venom, he has restraints only going for a few select people, Kasady doesn't, he'll go have a ball killing anyone or anything for the sheer joy of it.
The reason that makes Venom so scary , to me, is that, because the symbiote has earlier been bonded with Peter Paker, Venom is capable of avoiding triggering spidey's spider-sense...
MRR D, Flash Thompson says hello. Don't get me wrong, more villainous Venoms than anti-heroes. But Brock was hardly the only anti-hero and I'd argue he isn't even the best. He's the best villain Venom, but anti-hero...naw.
John Dee/Dr Destiny is always going to be the scariest villain to me, because I was introduced to him via The Sandman (the same comic the Corinthian hails from.) I'm a Neil Gaiman fan girl and when I'd devoured all of his novels and short stories that I could get my hands on, I decided to check out that comic he's so famous for, bringing me into the world of comics as a whole. But no one told me The Sandman started out as a horror comic (I mean, as a whole, it's not. It's got scary bits throughout, but it's also surreal and fantastical and humorous and wonderful, but OMFG, does it start out as a horror comic) I was so not prepared. And then the issue 24 Hours happens and I'm like WTF WAS THAT? and I'm still not over that and it's been like, twelve and a half years. So by the time the Corinthian shows up, I wasn't scared because John Dee had already scarred me for life.
Venom is not that scary Carnage however is frightening even before Cassidy became Carnage he was a serial killer at least Eddie Brock is sympathetic but there is none for Cassidy not to mention he's so strong to the point where at one point Spider-Man and Venom teamed up together to take him down
venom has fought him solo and won a few times. I do get that when he first appeared he was stronger than venom but nowadays he is pretty much another venom clone with a murder boner (also Zasz does the same exact thing that carnage does only better in my oppinion)
some other creepy villians I would have put are: carnage mad hatter hush the crooked man decon blackfire slade(teen titains animated series) toyman(superman animated series)
I guess terror is subjective. I find Magneto really scary. First, his criticisms of humanity are valid. Long after you put the comic book down, you have to grapple with the fact that we are exactly the monsters he says we are. Second, he believes he is preventing genocide. How many moral lines would you be willing to cross if you thought you were preventing genocide? How many moral compromises would you make in the name of preventing genocide? Lastly, if you convince those two things, he can't be reasoned with. Nothing can convince him to stop doing what he is doing.
So you picked vemon over Carnage?!?!?? Carnage has all the powers of venom only he is controled by a completely insane serial killer. Venom is frightening but he is normally being controled by someone who only wants to kill Spider-Man. Carnage has no regard for human life and ultimately nothing can stop him.
wrong carnage has been stopped several times by venom and I only recall oce when deadpool has killed him, and he has been stopped many times by spiderman and other heroes
Ahem, why no Poison Ivy? In my opinion, she is literally the most powerful, and at the same time, underused and underrated villain of the entire Batman villain line-up. Just think about it for a second, she can even Superman do whatever the hell she wants by using plants to brain-wash him. She's committed an ax-murder in Joker's Asylum (among other things) and does all of that in short story because a bunch jerks mowed down a forest area for condos. She can literally poison you to death with a single kiss or she can strangle you to death with literally any plant. Also, she if she wanted to, she could affect the chemistry of plants to make her own fear toxin and kill millions of people, without actually killing a single plant. Literally, the power over all plant-life and thinking humans as a toxin to the environment for the most part, makes it so any villain with this exact combination (i.e. the exact Poison Ivy has) can easily out-do Joker's kill-count for his entire career in a single day just using basic houseplants and trees that are decorative in a city. And that's not including the mind-control aspect she brings to the table!
there was a lot of detail in this video and i just wanted to let you know that i was very entertained the whole time and u just need to keep making great videos about comics!!!!
Professor Pyg kinda reminds me of that one King of the Hill episode Pigmalion where Luanne dates that crazy guy, Trip, who works at the pork company. Well, if he hadn't gotten killed and continued doing the crazy stuff that he already was.
We actually are upset that Zasz doesn't have any of his trademark cuts in Gotham. He's so much more intimidating when you see the sheer amount of kills he has just displayed on his skin.
Surely Carnage is scarier than Venom. An actual Serial killer with a symbiote inside of him that basically makes him immortal not to mention give him super powers.... Also I'm intrigued as to how Madder Red didnt make this list.
I would add Galactus as an honorable mention honestly the sight of him legit scares me. No joke looking at his presence in the comics and the fact that he can eat planets is pretty terrifying in my opinion. Otherwise very good list.
I'm glad to see you included Anton Arcane, but you left out one of the worst and creepiest of his acts with what he does to his own niece. Some other suggestions.... Dr. Destiny during his escape from Arkham in the Sandman series; Carnage; Mr. Quimper from The Invisibles.
The Corinthian has a penchant for cutting out your eyeballs from your sockets and then eating them and then killing you s.l.o.w.l.y He’s in a class of his own as a villain.
I think you kinda missed the point of Superman Red Son if you consider him the bad guy. Don't get me wrong, an omnipotent dictator is unquestionably bad but he is very much portrayed as still Superman in terms of wanting to save people and thus drastically reducing the death toll in both the soviet union and the cold war. He even worked to reform the secret police but his underlings thought they were trying to protect him. But Millar's point was that nations going to war without regard for cost thinking only of their own "security" was the problem. Fear of other, nationalism, misunderstanding, and the like were what caused almost all the ramping ups in tension and danger. Superman isn't the scary part of Red Son, we, the people who lived in super powers brought to the brink of annihilation by our fear were.
What about The Brood? Basically a highly intelligent species of monsters that will virtually impregnate the host (male or female) to become a new brood drone as they try to conquer the entire universe. having an alien entity invade your body only to slowly turn you into a new one of it's slaves with nothing you can do about it (barring having wolverine level healing factors to expel it) seems like a nightmare
Killgrave is definitely my number one. Dude makes my skin crawl....Just imagine being trapped in your body not being able to control anything you say or do. But see it.
Shouldn’t it be “mouth eyes” (eyes that look like mouths)? Think “cat’s eyes” (eyes that look like a cat’s eyes)? Granted, “eye mouths” sounds much cooler, but I would have thought “eye mouths” would be mouths that look like eyes. Or have I been doing this wrong my entire life? I know it’s an insignificant quibble, but being a part-time proof reader, I hope I’m right!
What about "Freak"? Literally unintentionally injecting himself with animal genes which made his skin fall off... 1. Dude was already unhinged, and along with that just looked super weird and gave off an impression he's done more than his fair share of questionable stuff in the past 2. Dude hates what he's become, literally screams in pain just from the sight of himself and blames Spider-Man who probably did the best thing to him; that being putting him in a coma 3. Sadly coma didn't last long, he got ripped out of "cocoon" he formed around himself which again was him just with no skin again, but Norman Osborn then to try and cure diseases had his organs removed and along with that, his pleasure center was removed so even if he was given numbing agents they wouldn't work... he's so obsessed with drugs hearing no pleasure=no drugs destroys him and worst part is, his torture is the last we see of him for like a hook hundred issues... 4. Dude can't die, he was shot, and fell into a sewer which caused him to grow amphibian like growths all over along with bullet proof skin, because of caterpillar genes which make him adapt (idk htf). Then got burned which made him unable to die essentially because his skin was literally unbreakable... it's also hinted he doesn't age either, so this guy literally has to live out the rest of his days as a... well... "Freak".
The Batman Who Laughs is pretty unsettling. He after becoming Jokerized when he killed the Joker he then killed Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Robin, Red Hood then he Jokerized Damian and made the Dark Knights and then they killed pretty much everyone
Honorable mentions: Bullseye (a more brutal killer than zazs) Norman Osborn (read dark reign) Carnage (serial killer + symbiote) Nightmare (marvel's Freddy Krueger) Kingpin (real organized crime) Ultron (the looming fear and uncertainty of the present creation of A.I.)
I can just imagine Killgrave using his powers to pants some poor guy at a black tie event... That is in my mind truly horrific and abhorrent, never mind the murders... No one should ever pull down the trousers of some random gentleman in a suit. You'd ruin the suit AND said gentleman's reputation!
The Joker should be on this list. He is an insane genius who is a serial mass murderer.Venom but no Carnage who is 10 times worse. Venom's evilness is tempered by the fact he is sometimes the "good" guy whether it is forced to ref.Thunderbolts or on his own as seen in the movie. Most of the villains are not scary. Stomach churning yes ref Professor Pyg. Others such as the Slenderman like villain are. As for Victor Zasz it's a shame what Gotham did with him. Making Victor a simple hitman. You could've used a new character. If you want to use DC villains don't change them.
Really? Venom but not Carnage? Everything you list for Venom also counts for Carnage, only that there you got your Serial Killer persona inside the symbiote, which you said in your first 2 picks automatically helps with making them a nightmarish villain cause serial killers can be in real life.
Uncontrolled bone growth? There's a rare medical condition that turns muscle into bone. And it definitely doesn't make you more powerful. In fact, it is usually fatal. It's called Fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva, or FOP for short. Also, Mr. Bloom reminds me of Slenderman somehow.
Venom gets a lot less scary and more likable when you read his solo comic series where it turns out he really wants whats best for people who are innocent and eventually abounds his hatred for Spiderman to become Anti-Venom, now Carnage on the other hand...
I got scarred for life after watching spider-man 3 as a child, so i might not get over the fear of venom.
@dragon stare24 Carnage Gives Me The Creeps Too, ;-;
I remember that one, good stuff, made Venom an anti hero, Carnage well... Clue's in the name
i like the idea that symbiotes aren't actually evil, but are corrupted by human nature.
I hate Mac Gargan's venom so much. I'm happy Martin Li cured Brock's cancer and became Anti Venom
Finally scarecrow gets some love. He's a totally underrated villain and one of my personal favorites.
Why

How is carnage not on here? Venom isn't scary, Carnage is.
Everyone knows this and venom should be replaced with the real nightmare.
Victor Von Deathstroke Carnage is so dull. All he does is mass murder. The only time he's interesting is when the symboite possesses someone else...like Spider-Carnage.
Victor Von Deathstroke original venom was basically carnage.

Well, by him i'm afraid of darkness to this day XP
No carnage?
No just EYE MOUTHS EYE MOUTHS
The Logical Paradox ikr! Carnage is like a more crazier version of Venom, and personally as a kid I was scared shitless by Carnage
He was in one of the pictures when they were talking about venom, close enough i guess.
He's a little too kill crazy to make the list. Carnage is just gonna try to murder you, but Venom's gonna hook you up to a feeding tube and slowly cover you in molten lead
john johnson you must not be too familiar with carnage, he is ten time crazier then venom bro... I think you need to switch those names around
Yeah he hasn’t read the Long Halloween has he. The modern version of Calendar Man can be terrifying in his own way at times.
I've read the long halloween and I completely agree with you
I’ve read long Halloween and beyond the homage to silence of the lambs, doesn’t really do or say much to instill much fear
You know what makes the Purple Man even scarier? The fact that Dr Doom (who could've also made the list) once used him to literally mind control (almost) the whole world.Yes, his powers were amplified by a machine but the fact that he has the potential to do that is quite frightening.
The Great Master TheAnonime Jessica Jones made purple man absolutely horrifying
It's an unpleasent thought
Eh not really scary
1:05 Zsasz was creepy as shit in the Arkham games. The turned on way he always says "Flesh", the story of him stalking and kidnapping Dr Cassidy in his Arkham Asylum interview tapes and the creepy laughter in his lair in Arkham City when he's about to kill 2 people.
You mention the Corinthian, but no love for Dr. Destiny? The _Sandman_ version is so completely terrifying. His one issue in the diner is just disgustingly horrific.
"He is entirely bright purple" Now what does this remind me of?
This list is more like most scariest batman villians.
He sure does have the most villians ever...
They should make a Zsaz horror movie
Robert Reich could be a good slasher villain to be honest
Der KampfzwergPhota could be low budget too
I would love to see an r rated batman movie with people like zsaz and scarecrow just so you could really show the twisted nature of their characters
James Forster I agree an R rated Batman film would be incredible, a truly violent Zsaz, Joker, Red Hood, and Scarecrow
+Epic Fandoms I wonder if Batman would kill in Rated R
Nothing can be possessed by VENOM! Only the SYMBIOTE can posses things. Plus, Venom is more of an anti hero. The symbiotes don’t mean harm.
DC has the best villains lineup.
yusuf shaikh And God's like me The Spectre.
yusuf shaikh idk man , it’s quite close for me. Obviously Joker is the GOAT villain but Marvel all have a lot of great villains e.g. Magneto, Dr Doom, Galactus, etc...

The only Comic book villain who actually gave me chills and got me a little scared was The Batman Who Laughs in his own one shot comic. That one shot was so fucking disturbing if you’re not some nihilistic edge lord.
Jake Matthews it was mediocre for DC in my opinion
Jake Matthews I agree it was really good
Then i guess i am a nihilistic edge lord

DC- “we’re about to give you nightmares”
I would have replaced Venom with Carnage cause with venom, he has restraints only going for a few select people, Kasady doesn't, he'll go have a ball killing anyone or anything for the sheer joy of it.

Come to see the show tonight
Turn the spotlight onto me
My body's ready

Come to conquer all your cries
Scarecrow is my favorite too.
I love him

The reason that makes Venom so scary , to me, is that, because the symbiote has earlier been bonded with Peter Paker, Venom is capable of avoiding triggering spidey's spider-sense...
SO MANY BATMAN VILLAINS I LOVE IT
He's got the most deranged villains. LOL.
millennial noobs
what about the Batman Who Laughs and the Murder Machine? and Venom is not a villain he's an anti hero
Tony Abraham he literally eats brains
He's a villain. He's been a villain multiple times. There are anti hero VERSIONS of him but apart from Eddie Brock he's always been a villain.
MRR D I see
MRR D, Flash Thompson says hello. Don't get me wrong, more villainous Venoms than anti-heroes. But Brock was hardly the only anti-hero and I'd argue he isn't even the best. He's the best villain Venom, but anti-hero...naw.
LupineShadowOmega whoops, sorry! I accidentally said Eddie Brock when I meant Flash Thompson for the anti hero
both Scarecrow AND Venom? NEXT TO EACHOTHER?! THIS IS THE BEST CHANNEL ON EARTH HANDS DOWN YOU SIR GAINED A SUB

John Dee/Dr Destiny is always going to be the scariest villain to me, because I was introduced to him via The Sandman (the same comic the Corinthian hails from.) See mr bloom is scary asf if anyone judges that arc I always say about it I rlly loved that story arc.
Violater/Clown from Spawn?
Bravo for bringing up The Corinthian; could’ve said which he’s in (The Sandman, which also had Johnathan Crane/Scarecrow).
Green Goblin Should Be On The List Too You Know, He's Even More Scarier Than The Joker
some other creepy villians I would have put are:
carnage
mad hatter
hush
the crooked man
decon blackfire
slade(teen titains animated series)
toyman(superman animated series)
Mačka Puno s****a pyg??
I blame Zsasz for me developing a fixation with scars during my worst bout of depression
#1 Calender-Man
Superman still repeatedly gets his ass handed to him by batman and Alfred that one time
I liked "The Truth" from "Enigma" (Vertigo). It was a short but fantastic mini-series, and he was so memorable for being so terrifying.
I don't know if this one counts as "No the Joker" but The Bat Who Laughs was definitely the most terrifying one I've read
scarecrow started out as a teacher torturing his students? oh my god he's every teacher ive ever had
The Batman who laughs.. 😈😈
💩💩💩💩💩🤡
He's not scary. He's plot armor given form. He's boring asf.
I still see that panel where he mercs the league...grim af
Were the emojies really neccesary 🧐
Honestly, I'm surprised that The Thousand from the Spider-Man universe isn't on this list. That thing is nightmare fuel.
That swamp thing comic of Arcane rocked. For its time it was a really great creepy episode.
A human resides within it's writhing testicles.
No, i didn't think Jules said that, I just tweaked the phrase.

Lucky Day Gaming Deadpool is overrated.
6:10 “ the man behind the slaughter!”
I love the scary lists. Do more scary lists!
I wasn't aware of Mister Bloom but now I'm terrified.
No Judge Death or Torquemada. 2000ad has loads of great villains
Ahem, why no Poison Ivy? In my opinion, she is literally the most powerful, and at the same time, underused and underrated villain of the entire Batman villain line-up.

Props for calling attention to The Corinthian! He is quite terrifying...
Scarecrow is the master of fear and I'm happy he is on the list :D

Also I'm intrigued as to how Madder Red didnt make this list.
A villain who can't be defeated sounds like a challenge.
Raoul Bushman legit creeped me out when I read the issue where he comes back to life at 2 in the morning.
I’m easy to impress, but that serial killer gag made my night.
I would add Galactus as an honorable mention honestly the sight of him legit scares me. No joke looking at his presence in the comics and the fact that he can eat planets is pretty terrifying in my opinion. Otherwise very good list.
LB 2.0. Galactus is a good choice personally I’ll choose the Anti Monitor, Imperiex or Brainiac from Convergence
Mister Bloom looks like Slenderman and The Look See's adopted kid with a blooming personality.
(1 pun per comment section)
Remember Eric Stonestreet’s character in AHS: Murder House? That’s what I picture whenever Professor Pyg shows up😳. Anyone else??
Glad to see the puns (I've got them) are back
A Swamp Thing AND a Sandman villain! Well done Jules I'm impressed by the level of true NEEEEEEEEERD you put into this video!
Behind the Corinthian 2:18 is Robert Smith of The Cure
What about villains like Doomsday? Banshee? Killer Croc? Carnage? Dark Phoenix? Puppet Master? They wouldn't give you nightmares?
Also all "no" memes played in my head when i saw eye mouths
The Corinthian has a penchant for cutting out your eyeballs from your sockets and then eating them and then killing you s.l.o.w.l.y
He’s in a class of his own as a villain.
Love the video keep up the good work, Blessed Be.
Wonderful video!

Red Death? He's a damn evil Batman with Flash's speed!
Also the Marquis of Death, because hot damn he was terrifying and damn near unstoppable.

I would have thought carnage would fit better venom with a serial killer inside.
Zsasz is amazing in Gotham
I live near purple man and knowing he has mind powers just makes him more terrifying.
the fear gas hallucinations scared the shit out of me as a kid in batman the animated series
A lot of these villains are my favorite!
The Batman Who Laughs is pretty unsettling. He after becoming Jokerized when he killed the Joker he then killed Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Robin, Red Hood then he Jokerized Damian and made the Dark Knights and then they killed pretty much everyone
When you are so early the likes to views ratio actually makes sense...
Yes someone else likes the scarecrow but general grievous is my favourite villan and venom is cool OK scarecrow is my favourite DC villan
The thing is, When it comes to DC they villains look like they could possibly be out there in the real world somewhere.
Come for the list cause its comics, stay for there god damn British accents damn
IF THIS IS A INSULT IF SO WE THINK THE SAME ABOUT YOURS
SERIOSUOLY
Steve Mills it was a compliment not a insult why did you think he was insulting the well no such thing as a British accent?
Wow only DC and Marvel, like there aren't other Comic Publishers like Valiant, Dark Horse or Image
Honorable mentions:
Bullseye (a more brutal killer than zazs)
Norman Osborn (read dark reign)
Carnage (serial killer + symbiote)
Nightmare (marvel's Freddy Krueger)
Kingpin (real organized crime)
Ultron (the looming fear and uncertainty of the present creation of A.I.)
elrojojp ok ok i get it you like marvel
elrojojp Bullseye is badass, but not scary tbh.
How is bullseye more brutal than zsasz? And Brainiac is more scarier and menacing as an AI than Ultron

*THE MAN BEHIND THE SLAUGHTER SOUNDS*
Dormammu, Thanos, Carnage, Corvus Glaive, Godemperor Doom, The Ultimator, Molecule Man (Not Owen Reece though), Galactus.
Dude. Venom is a anti-hero.
With you there on scarecrow. My fave batman villian of all time. Only character in comic history to scare judge death.
Zsasz nr 1. I expect that "Crime Alley" will be awesome.
