    Hi dear Lavanya!😃 I'm really confused and feel that I don't understand certain things. Please, can you clear these- I mean, the first medical internship we do while studying in mbbs (last year ) is fy1. So after that starts fy2(which I want to do in the UK) now I'm really confused about how many types of fy2 are there or what other posts are available for me and their names eg- training /nontraining, post grades etc I really don't understand them😞😞

    • @lavnya70
      @lavnya70  4 года назад +2

      Hi, after mbbs, doctors here do FY1 (which is equivalent to internhsip in other countries), after FY1 doctors do FY2. You can apply for a training FY2 post or a non-training FY2 post. Training post will be better but the places are limited. It is ok to do a non-training FY2 post. The salary, support and job is the same.
      Whatever FY2 post you do make sure you obtain the FACD(foundation achievement of competency document). This can be obtained in a training and a non-training FY2 post.
      As long as you have completed FY2- and obtain the FACD, you can apply for further specialty training in your desired field.

      Lavnya Balenderan alright dear. If I assume that I still need to practice certain things or don't have enough confidence as I'm studying in a foreign country where they use their own language to talk so we have limited access to the patients. So what do you think? Is it better to join fy2 none training or training? But surely make myself know all the things a fy2 doctors must know. And it's a humble request if you can make a video on what things we should know to do for fy2 in UK. It will be easier for us to note if we miss something.

      @@beautifulzzz2120 Hi, i understand your concerns. Don't worry. When you start FY2 (training or non-training), you will be given a e-portfolio to fill and procedures to sign off. As long as you complete it, you will be given the FACD. You will also have a clinical supervisor (normally a consultant), to ensure you make good progress and meet your FY2 needs. Pathway for internal medicine- After MBBS, internship and PLAB, apply for FY2 jobs in UK. After FY2 (1 year), apply for internal medicine training (IMT) (3 years). During IMT, take MRCP. After IMT and MRCP, apply for higher specialty training in your desired medical specialty eg cardiology, respiratory, acute medicine, neurology, gastroenterology, renal medicine etc. Best to do a non-training FY2 post before entering a training programme. Most IMGs apply for a non-training post for 6-12 months before entering a training programme. This will give you NHS experience before entering a training programme.
