    Is there a possibility to transition from a non-training post to a training post and vice versa? And how does it work. If we transition mid-training, and want to go back to we have to start over?

      You can take a year out mid-training to pursue other career goals and continue training after that. You have to get it approved by the training programme director.

      After GMC registration, apply for anesthetic trust grade/fellowship jobs in UK. This will give you NHS experience. After that, apply for speciatly training in anesthetics.

    Hi MaM i hv a question pumping upn in my mind..As now iam in first year of medical clg..u said in previous videos that their is a shortage of doctor over their in uk and they need doctors ..so i think that after 5 years of my medicl clg when i will give ukmle..the shortage will still remain uptill then..or the storage will be compensated..and the competition will goes higher from present?????😕😓

      Most IMGs apply for a non-training post (6-12 months) first before entering a training programme. This will give you NHS experience.

      No, after doing a non-training post, you can apply for specialty training. Do make sure that you gain all the FY2 competencies during the non-training post and obtain the Foundation Achievement of Competency Document (FACD) . You will need the FACD to apply for specialty training.

    Hello doc. Thank u for such informative videos
    I have completed the royal college exams and waiting for my GMC. Like in the vidoe most people have advised me to start with a non-training jobs rather than applying for ST3 directly. But i feel it would just delay the process of getting a cct.
    Can u plz tell me what r the risks involved and if it is at all advisable to start as ST3 in the UK if someone gets the chance? Is it even manageable? Any private academy or anything that could give induction for the same if required or is their shadowing first before starting as a st3?

    Hello Lavnya:) after CT1 and CT2 i go to ST3 (if i pass mrcs) if i want to be surgeon. However, what happens at ST1 and ST2? I never understood these two.

      ST1 and ST2 is similar to CT1 and CT2. They are referred to differently depending on the specialty. In run-through specialties it is called ST1 and ST2.     Hello! I'm planning on coming to the UK when I graduate later this year and work in a non training position as a doctor. However I'm a bit worried about figuring out how the system works and any paperwork that is involved in day to day hospital work. I'm saying that because I have now worked as a nurse in my home country for about a year and there are still things that I'm not sure about. When I imagine having the same issues in a foreign country stresses me out but that won't stop me of course. How complicated would you say the administrative work and paperwork is?

      Hi, there is a fair amount of paper work for doctors. But i think it is manageable. I have not worked in other countries, so I can't really compare it to other places.

      @@g.a.r3058 Yes, you normally have a hospital induction prior to starting your post. If you are new to the NHS, there will also be a period (1-2 weeks) of shadowing prior to starting your post.

    Can MTI route doctor apply for training posts directly from ST3

      If you plan to do ST3 training in UK, best not to come via the MTI route. MTI route is mainly for doctors who want to return to their home country. MTI is only for 2 years.

    Is MSc a necessary for specialist training apart from the entry and exit exams?

      No. UK doctors don't normally do PG degree to specialise and become a consutlant. We do the specialty training programme to specialise. Specialty training is not conducted by a university. It is not a MD/degree/masters. Specialty training programme is free. You work for the hospital while you train. You will also receive a monthly salary.

    If I am doing my CT training and then I don't pass my MRCP in my first go, then will I be doing training or non training job till my next attempt?.

      You have 2-3 years during CT training to pass MRCP. If you don't pass it during that time, you can apply for non-training post after CT training.

    Hallo Dr I really love your videos, I just have 2 questions, firstly upon completion of medical school and English exams (IELTS/OET) and no need for plab ( as in the situation where your primary medical degree is from EEA and accepted by gmc) what is the next step in order to register for a non training job and start working in the uk?, secondly if you need to apply for a visa does the nhs sponsor you?

      To enter higher surgical training ST3 , you need MRCS and 2 years of core surgical experience (gained all the competencies of CT1 and CT2).
      Also, do note that most IMGs apply for a non-training post for 6-12 months before entering specialty training. This will give you NHS experience before entering a training programme.

      If you have completed MRCS and have 2 years of core surgical training, you can apply for higher surgical training in your desired field eg, general surgery, urology, vascular, orthopaedics, plastics, ent, cardiothoracics etc.
      Most IMGs apply for a non-training post for 6-12 months before entering specialty training. This will give you NHS experience before entering a training programme.

      UKMLA will only be intoduced in 2023. So i think PLAB will still be used before that.

      Most IMGs apply for a non-training post for 6-12 months before entering specialty training. This will give you NHS experience before entering a training programme.
      Apply for a FY2 post (non-training) in UK. After FY2, apply for GP training. I think the eligibility to enter GP training is completion of FY2. (gain all the FY2 competencies). Do check out this videos on the GP training in UK

    A question, can a doctor who completed a Standalone FY2 program apply for a non training job for a year if he wants to improve his chances of getting a tough specialty? Or does he have to opt for a non training job right from the beginning instead of FY2 if he wants a second non training year?

      I am not sure about the best route for doctors who want to work in another country. Sorry. I can only advise you on the pathway for specialty training if you want to settle in the UK.

      You don't have to go via the CESR route if you do specialty training in UK.
      Pathway to become a consultant in UK for IMG- (easiest and fastest route)
      After MBBS, internship and PLAB, apply for FY2 jobs in UK. After FY2 (1 year) , apply for specialty training in your desired specialty. The selection into specialty training will depend on you CV/portfolio and interview performance. Do audits, quality improvement projects, posters, presentations, attend courses related to the specialty you want to pursue. This will enhance your CV/portfolio.

    i have recently completed mbbs from nepal and a average student till now i dont have anything to put up in my cv
    i want to become a surgeon or orthopedic is it possible to study these subjects in uk?
    i want to only persue to uk if there is good chances of getting surgery in uk , or should i complete my residency in nepal and then think about goin uk ?
    i am so confused
    could you please help me ? what is the chances/ percentage of getting general surgery or orthopedic in uk ?????

      Hi, in my opinion, if you want to work and settle in UK long term, it is best to come here as soon as possible and train in the UK.
      Surgery is competitive but possible if you have a good CV/portfolio.

      and along these all thing we need to do MRCS

    Hi Lavnya ! im doing IMT ..entering IMY3 next month in India . Its a new venture of the JRCPTB. Have cleared MRCP part 1 . There was a new update saying that in view of COVID 19 , candidates who pass part 1 can apply for ST3 provided they clear the membership exam by the end of ST3. In that case do u have an idea about GMC registration ? and also my fiance is doing her MS in ophthalmology now in India. What should she do if she has to get a job there ?

      Normally you can apply for GMC registration after MRCP. I am not sure about how the GMC registration will change during COVID.
      She should register with the GMC, either by doing PLAB or one of the UK speciatly exams- www.gmc-uk.org/registration-and-licensing/join-the-register/before-you-apply/acceptable-postgraduate-qualifications
      The specialty exams will be more approriate for her since she is a senior doctor.
      After obtaining GMC registration, she can apply for ophthalmology jobs here.

      Internship is equivalent to FY1 in the UK. After FY1, doctors normally do FY2 before entering core training. Most IMGs apply for a non-training post for 6-12 months before entering specialty training. This will give you NHS experience before entering a training programme.

      IMGs can apply for training post. As far as I am aware, there is no limit. Once you have secured a training post, you can apply for a work visa.

      Not really. If you did MBBS outside the UK/EU, you need to register with the GMC. To register with the GMC you can do PLAB or one of the UK specialty exams like MRCP/MRCS/MRCOG/MRCPCH etc. PLAB is suitable for newly qualified doctors and the UK speciatly exams will be suitable for more senior doctors.
