    Hi there!
    I was looking for a video that summarizes the USMLE and UKMLA as these were what were discussed in my class as an option to apply through to practice in those respective countries. We discussed the Canadian and Australian options as well. I only realized halfway through this video that it’s a year old and was surprised as to how much has changed over the span of 1 year with these medical licensing exams.
    USMLE step 1 is now a pass/fail exam and there is a UKMLA which will be introduced a year before I graduate.
    Still, this was an informative video but will try and find a more comprehensive video on the exam contents for both in due time.
    Thank you ✨.

      Yes, as you have completed MRCP- you can be registered with the GMC. With regards to specialty training in the UK- there is no age limit. As long as you are interested in that specialty and have a good cv/portfolio- you should have a chance of getting in. Have you done all/part of cardiology specilaty/pg training? If you have done pg in cardiology previously- you could try and enter the specialist register via the cesr route.

There is still a shortage of doctors/specialist in UK so you should be able to get a job in a good hospital regardless of Brexit. • @lavnya70

      Yes. Most IMGs apply for a non-training post for 6-12 months before entering specialty training. This will give you NHS experience before entering a training programme. After completing a non-training post SHO/FY2 level (1 year), you can apply for obs and gynae specialty training (7 years). I explain how to apply for a non-training post and a training programme in this video- ruclips.net/video/9N9KRdB1SKA/видео.html . Hi dr 😍, can you please elaborate me ,as you said one does not need to give mrcp if you wish to do surgery,obs and gyna , pshycatry , is plab enough? And if yes then right after the plab 2 will i work in fy1 and f2 or trust grade job( nhs or trust grade job, what does it means) and right after non training job how do we get into those branches like obs and gyna , surgery ? How much amount will we be paid and how long will be the course?

    • @lavnya70
      @lavnya70  4 года назад

      Yes, MRCP is only necessary to enter the higher medical specialties like gastroenterology, dermatology, cardiology, neurology, renal medicine, respiratory etc.
      If you have completed internship, after PLAB 2, you can apply for FY2 trust grade jobs.
      After FY2, you can apply for specialty training in your desired specialty.

      TRAINING POST vs NON-TRAINING POST | UK DOCTOR GUIDE ruclips.net/video/9N9KRdB1SKA/видео.html
      UK doctors don't normally do PG degree to specialise and become a consultant. We do the specialty training programme to specialise. Specialty training is not conducted by a university. It is not a MD/degree/masters. Specialty training programme is free. You work for the hospital while you train. You will also receive a monthly salary.

      It is difficult to say. I really don't know what the overall effect will be.

    Hi mam!
    I wanted to know if it is possible to become a consultant in UK by directly appearing for MRCP, after completing MD from a different country?

      Hi, you can consider doing the CESR route. You can find more information about CESR here.

    Helloo mam.! Right now I’m doing my internship from india. I’m planning to write mrcp. But when is the ideal time for me to write mrcp?? Like do i need to have 1 more year clinical experience (other than my internship) to write the exam??

      I think you can do it after internship. You can start preparing for the test now. Sit for the exam once you are confident enough. All the best.

      Hi, yes medical registrar in Uk is equivalent to a internal medicine resident. The salary for trust grade doctors depends on your grade. Newly qualified doctors was earn between 30-35 k. It is more than enough to live comfortably. Working hours are not too bad. 9-5 normal days. 9-9 on long days and nights. 9-21 day 21-9 night shift. You normally do 4 long days in a row. Long days are 12 hours. All hours are calculated and banded according to the new junior doctors contract.

      If you did MBBS outside the UK/EU, you need to register with the GMC. To obtain GMC registration, you need to complete MRCP (all parts) or PLAB (all parts).

    Hi Dr Lavnya, I have completed MD Paediatrics in India and working. Which exam should I take to become a consultant in UK? Please reply..

    • @lavnya70
      @lavnya70  4 года назад

      Hi, the first step is probably to gain GMC registration. You can do this by taking MRCPCH since you are already a paediatrician.
      To become a consultant in the UK (to enter the specialist register here), you can consider doing the CESR route. You can find more information about the CESR route here bdiresourcing.com/news/2018/06/a-guide-to-cesr/130
      There might be other routes as well. Do contact BDI resourcing. They are a recruitment agency that helps international doctors secure a job here.
