    Lyrics
The only time I feel the pain
Is in the sunshine or the rain
And I don't feel no hurt at all
Unless you count when teardrops fall
I tell the truth 'cept when I lie
It only hurts me when I cry
You couldn't tell it by the smile
    That my recovery took awhile
I worked for days and nights on end
Just to walk and talk again
You can't believe the time it takes
To heal a heart once it breaks
The only time I feel the pain
Is in the sunshine or the rain
And I don't feel no hurt at all
Unless you count my teardrops fall
I tell the truth 'cept when I lie
It only hurts me when I cry
Oh maybe every now and then
I have a small heartache again
You wouldn't know when you look at me
There's tiny scars that you can't see
It was a struggle to survive
    I'm probably lucky I'm alive
The only time I feel the pain
Is in the sunshine or the rain
And I don't feel no hurt at all
Unless you count when teardrops fall
I tell the truth 'cept when I lie
And it only hurts me when I cry
I tell the truth 'cept when I lie
And it only hurts me when I cry

One of the most talented entertainers out there today! Country music is in a rapid decline, I hope it takes an upswing soon. Dwight has a great mix of country, folk, r&b, tex, and a unique voice that sets him far apart from anybody out there today. You cant really put a label on him, yet the influence of rockabilly, Buck Owens, Elvis, and even Roy Orbison can be heard Dwight is a fantastic entertainer.

I'm just glad Dwight Yoakam came around when he did. Because he would be an "outcast" and shunned and NOT played on radio these days. Such a shame. He is SOO incredibly talented!

"I tell the truth cept when I lie". I have loved this song since it was new, part of the soundtrack of my life... It's a Masterpiece just like "Neon Moon" by Brooks and Dunn.

Fantastic, I've liked him ever since I first got to listen to his music, it shows out that we're both born on the 23rd. October! He a few years earlier than me, but i see some similarities, kindness, easy going personality, no rude behaviour, kind to women and also I know that underneath that Stetson, he's got just about as much hair as I've got! Besides, has anyone other than D. Yoakam gotten that close to the Iconic Buck Owens? ...I think no! :-)
