    Honestly, i like his art, i like his music, one of the most underrated guitarists of all time. Now he's doing what he's content doing and i applaud him for it...id just like to shake his hand

    Why does everyone slag him off for doing artwork? Sure he's not setting the world on fire with it but if he's happy, isn't that the more important thing?

  • @ScootyJustin

    It's amazing that despite giving up making music, Squire is still regarded as one of the greatest guitarists of all time...which of course he is. I totally respect John no matter what he does because either way the impact he's made is massive.

    If he's happy doing art, let him do art, if he's happy shredding let him shred, if he wants to get high, he can.
    I've a feeling the Roses will be back on an epic scale anyway.

    Quite mild mannered and patient. I'd get sick of everyone asking about shit that pissed me off, all the damned time. He handles it well.

    John Squire is an amazing artist whatever he does...and of course one of the finest guitarists around, his solo albums are great, ok maybe he shouldn't sing on all the songs, but there's something about this bloke that is simply MAGNETIC, digging his choices

    It's a shame for us fans that he has given up music, but he seems really happy.
    I can't really blame him for hanging up his guitar, though.
    He has been accused of all possible disloyalties, everyone had something to say about everything he did, b/c he made THAT perfect album and everything he did thereafter had to measure up to that. I can see why he wants to leave the Roses in his past.
    All considered I'm surprised he's not even more pissed off!

    Before any reunion can take place, there has to be a reconsiliation tween Ian Brown, John Squire, and Reni. To the best of my knowledge none of the three have been in the same room for several years. The three of them seemed to get along with Mani but they couldn't get along with each other which makes Mani the Ringo Starr of the Stone Roses. The Stone Roses made history But what a shame they still don't talk to each other.

    Times have changed, people have changed, the music business and the way we listen to music has changed. I agree with you somewhat, in that I would say the music business and the charts is more like a machine, whereas in the past it all came more organically. However, Jay Z is still a very talented man.

    The Stone Roses NEED to re-form!
    A line's been crossed when Jay-Z has a No.1 single in our country.. which once had The Beatles, Oasis, The Stone Roses, Sex Pistols, The Smiths, Neil Young and The Rolling Stones filling the charts.. now we are forcred to listen to n-dubz, jay-z and shit like that!!!!

  • @tomscotland
    @tomscotland 16 лет назад

    The maltesers is a childhood thing, as you probably know. However, a mate of a mate of Paul Ryder's (which goes for shit, obviously) tells me its still going on, so maybe it is, maybe it isn't.

  • @bossyhannon
    @bossyhannon 16 лет назад

    regardless of the music and all remember the stone roses were great mates for years living in each others pockets.what memories they must have had.i dunno not speaking to someone about something that happened when they were "kids" is ridiculous now that they re grown men is plain silly.sit down over a few beers and a few E and it will be sortid.

  • @AcidHouseMatt
    @AcidHouseMatt 13 лет назад

    @DANNYM35 I cried when it said in the paper they turned down £1,000,000 each to re-form. Music has died now if im honest with exception of a few bands.

  • @ufewl
    @ufewl 16 лет назад

    He is miles more communicative talking about his art than he ever was talking about music, although that's
    easy to do judging by his music interviews that I have seen. There won't be a reunion.

  • @chevyyyyyyy
    @chevyyyyyyy 16 лет назад

    Blobs on canvas have been fully explored in the middle of the previous century, so there is nothing new here to further art along. Surprised that the fashionable but -- I guess -- desperate gallery is showing old-style art.

  • @paulph12002
    @paulph12002 13 лет назад

    @AcidHouseMatt Yeah, I remember that too and was pretty gutted about it. If they can afford to turn down money like that to reform, good luck to 'em. But I wish they'd just do a one-off gig or something for all the fans, and to blow all today's crap so-called indie bands and people like n-dubz and jay-z clean away.

    It still saddens me that he has chose the brush over the guitar tho as i think he is a better musician than artist..I would love the band to get back together more than anything! the thought of them not ever playing again is deeply saddening! if they ever did i would like it if john used strat and jag etc for the old stuff and les paul for second coming era...ahhh dream on eh... excuse my rant.

    Thank FUCK he's picking a guitar up again, that's all I can say. "An exploration of the rear of the canvass"? Such a waste of the *real* talent nature bestowed upon him. Not saying his art is poor, I'm only a layman and probably not fit to judge... Dali and Magritte are more my cup of tea, but it is clear Squire's true vocation is being stifled.

  • @bellkxboy
    @bellkxboy 17 лет назад

    Why wont john or ian just fucking phone one another and have done with it, imagine all the money they would get and all the fans they would have, the roses were such a brilliant band. John needs to flush his brush and whip out his old strat :-)

    From "Sally Cinnamon" to "One Love" lies the genius of Squire. It was so creative, vibrant, unique, and revolutionary. Then suddenly he decided to turn into a generic boring rock blues guitarist. Why? It just baffles me to this day.

  • @steamstudio2

    Cocaine. Is the answer that simple.
    He should have stayed with Meth. To take a quote from the book, The Stone Roses and the resurrection of British Pop, "The roses did Speed Religiously". This was, of course, before the shitty 2nd coming album.

    what's happened to him?!?!?
    rubbish paintings - someone needs to tell him to sort his life out and be the great guitarist he once was.
    roses amazing, seahorses good because of his endless riffing - solo stuff rubbish - guitarist amazing!
