I've been playing a set of Wilson profile xd with senior flex cost $299 new for several years. Driver, 3 wood, 5 hybrid, 6-sw, putter and bag.I replaced the driver and putter and added a 52º this year. I got my handicap index down to 14.2 I shot an even par 72 this year and quite a number of rounds in the mid 70s. It just proves you don't need expensive clubs to play well!

Wish companies would come out with these affordable sets for beginners. I feel like cost is the only thing keeping people from getting in to golf.

There’s a lot to be said for taking less clubs. It really can simplify the game and beginners won’t strike it consistently enough to see the benefit of all the different irons anyway. Until I broke 80 for the first time recently my best ever round had been an 81 which I scored on a day my club held a 3 club & a putter comp. I took Driver, 8 iron, wedge and putter.
This is a Chris type of set. I use their golf balls though tour 900 and I love them especially for the price
Fair play to testing them and bringing them to people’s attention who might be interested getting into golf and doing a great honest review on them

Twenty years ago I had a set like this but made by major manufacturer.they got two clubs out of each one by having two different grip positions on each club and it did change the distance.
I think I had these too but I can’t remember the brand
I absolutely love the positive attitude toward welcoming new folks into the wonderful world of Golf. I just put together a used full set for my brother who just started golfing this year because of Social Distancing. I'll have to keep something like this in mind if my nephew decides to follow suit. James, great review. For $150 it delivers more than expected. Most people (my opinion) just want to get the ball moving forward toward the hole in a dependable way. There’s an old duffer on our course here in the US that plays bogey golf with with a beat up old driver, dinged up 7 iron, S/W and a putter that looks like it has been smashed and bent back to form by a trash compactor. After talking with him for a few minutes, he revealed what golf is for him, “fresh air, fellowship, and fun.” He walks, talks, and feels good about life! Great example for all of us who get hung up on minor things like the score!!!
For me, this is the most brilliant review you've ever done. Just goes to show you can enjoy golf without making it complicated or expensive. And you finally admitted you can be annoying lol... I joke. You get a like and a sub from me now.

Golf - perfect for my mate who is looking to take up the game
I was a 28 handicapper and bought similar Inesis 500 (for me) and Inesis 900 half set for my wife (played off 36) a few years back Both have improved with these starter sets and moved on to "better" clubs, but still have the inesis 900, 6 iron and sand wedge I took out of the wife's bag. They suit me better. Handicaps 3 years on, are 19 for me and 21 for the good lady, so were positive help in moving our game on. Highly recommended for beginner or high handicapper.

I've seen those mixed 8/9 clubs on a couple of starter sets back in the 80s. Granted it has been a while though. Nice to see you test out something other than top tier golf clubs.

Golf: Most relevant point I have seen on RUclips, to date, on golf videos regarding how good players are and the assumption that others will be better players than you are etc.
Golf, G.O.L.F. I have a great friend who really needs these to start playing. He has had a lesson with me and has suddenly got the bug! I will even travel from Poland to pick them ul and play a few holes with the RUclips Meister Mr James!
I quite often play with a half set of Driver, 7 wood, 5, 7, 9, GW, LW and Putter. Scores don't change too much if I am putting and chipping well. Great review I hope you are taking them to the course.

I use a Callaway Strata 12 piece set (Driver, 3wood, 5h, 6-9 iron, pw and putter). Those clubs are more that adequate for me and I do play decent golf (+8 to +10) with them. Headcovers, bag, putter and irons get an immediate recommendation at $249 USD.
Now, this is where I can open the can of hate I have for budget sets. Usually the driver, 3 wood and hybrids are crap or are the most difficult clubs in the bags to play. I have ordered a second hand 4 and 5 iron and gap wedge.
I can see even the experienced golfers using this set. Challenge Mark or Liam with it. Would be fun.
Golf - my son has doubled irons 5 and 6 7 and 8 9 and pw, for a child they are perfect for anyone else I don’t know but that’s why im here watching you my friend 👌👍
Would like to see a video of you playing these clubs on a course. I think to make the 6/7 iron go the 7 iron distance you would have to choke down a bit on the grip. I might be wrong.
Picked these up for my Wife who is trying to get into Golf. She’s excited to own her own clubs, and I’m excited that we can stop spending $ on club rentals. Win win.
Those irons look like my 2014 PING Kartsen SGI irons! So EASY to hit! I haven't played a 14 club set in YEARS. More often 12. Only 8-9 clubs when I'm out for a quick 9 holes. Shoot the same scores. Play off 5.
Golf- I started off with a set kinda like that but now I'm using some shiny 718 ap3s and heck I haven't been able to hit driver long and I could hit my 2 iron longer than my driver. Love your videos. They have helped and made my golf journey to get to below 90 has almost succeeded this year again after shoulder surgery.
Awesome video James! I play a local par three with 3 irons and a putter. Love when I have to manufacture shots when I’m in between clubs. The skills I have developed have certainly been useful out on the long course.
GOLF . Enjoyed that. Bought my Daughter a half set of of a lady’s clubs and was impressed with the quality. Not just the clubs but the bag also. They do a hollow head set of irons for £350 or something that look awesome but there’s no way to try them b4 you buy them that put me off. 100% recommended for anyone getting into golf as a starter set tho.
A half set is great for beginners and the gapping is fine with this set as you need to learn how to putt well and chip and bump and run well and that confidence we'll work up the clubs
I am so with you ..... Drop driver and Hybrid and gimme the rest ........ Only clubs i love choosing by feel is driver and wood/hybrid ........ The rest would be good for a go at it ..... For fun

GOLF As a 12 handicap a few years ago, had one of my better rounds, and most fun, during a 3 club event. Not 3 and a putter, just 3. I chose 5 wood, 7 iron, and a sw. Shot 81 with a triple on my next to last hole. Never been a bomber, think I was getting the 5 wood about 190 total off the tee. If I could afford it, I would buy that color coded Miura/Linksoul set. Maybe I’ll just cobble up my own...

With many golfers and new to the sport interested in exercising outdoor in these pandemic conditions is key! I priced a matching 5 iron for my old Ping G clubs and this set is only a small amount more than one club. Hope someone in the US will carry these soon.
Golf! - I'm trying to get my best mate to play golf with me as I'm always playing alone or with my dad's friends. My mate says he'd like to get into the sport but can't afford a decent set to start with. Hopefully if I win I can gift him this set.
I love this set! I took up golf in march and used to work at decathlon so purchased this set. I play off 20 and they have really helped me. Would recommend to beginners highly! Great video James

Hi James, the bag doesn't come with the set for the price of £150 and the clubs come in two different lengths so anyone buying these from Decathalon would need to check before they buy them 👍
Last three seasons I have played with the driver, hybrid, iron 5, 7, 9, PW and putter. Not because I don't have a full set in my garage but because I enjoy lighter minimalist bag and prefer fewer clubs in it. This year I have switched to this decathlon set which seems to be similar to my own club mix. I am really looking forward to see the difference! Also, one important thing to mention - it comes in two sizes so they mind shorter players as it can get tricky to buy shortened shaft drivers or hybrids, especially online for example.

Bought these during the first lockdown to get in to golf, I've found them great as a beginner who just wants to play for a bit of fun now and again without forking out £££. Would love to see you play 18 holes with them and it gives me hope seeing someone hitting them much further than I can currently! I've really enjoyed how comfortable and lightweight the bag is when carrying it round too.

I play off whs 11, I'd happily play those apart from the driver if it performed badly for me, I feel handicap golfers over complicate the game with the limited skill we possess. I'd probably shoot similar score with that set as I do with my mizuno jpx 900 hot metal's, ping glide forged wedges and Cobra woods

good set for a beginner keep the irons putter hybrid and use the driver for now, keep looking for a second hand better quality driver in the mean time -golf

Brilliant irons, these are better than my cobra irons I use these most of the time now saves all the faffing about, half swing to get the distance you need, why take out 14 clubs?
Admittedly I have cobra KING SZ driver 5 wood and hybrid with the inesis 100 irons great combination
Bought a set for the missus last Xmas. She hasn’t played them yet so I took them out for a round this week and shot my best round ever! Around 6 shots better than with my full set of ping g20s! Very forgiving. Played with a set that are Size1 whereas Size 2 would be better for me ( according to Decathlon’s website)
Brilliant James. The big named manufacturers are cringing right now because in 18 minutes you've destroyed the "you get what you pay for" narrative.
And for the record, I'll fly over in the spring to claim those clubs and at a round with you and Liam Harrison. But I'll have to work in a trip to Angel's! Cheers mate!

I got into the game this year. I bought a package set. It was cheaper than that set, and a name brand. It was 10 clubs (driver, 3w, 4h, 5-pw, putter) and a bag.
Don’t overlook Wilson, folks. Yes, you’ll want to upgrade at some point. But I was not disappointed with any club in that bag. The only thing that was truly terrible were the grips, specifically their alignment, but the clubs are amazing for the price.
If you want a good grip for cheap, Karma velvets can be had for less than 40 bucks for a full set online. If you use a pool toy inflator nozzle on an air compressor swapping them out is a breeze without having to use much solvent and fiddling around. They are almost indistinguishable from GolfPride velvets and way, way cheaper!
@@Coreadrin I tested a few things and have replaced the driver and 3 wood with lamkin crossline grips (as well as shortening the stock shafts slightly for control) and the putter with a decent golf pride grip. To round out the set I ditched the hybrid and 5i for some Orlimar escape fairway woods (5 & 7), and added a trio of used Vokey wedges (50, 56, and 60). The grips on the irons are next spring, I’ll probably stick with the lamkins, and keep my eye out for a great deal on a new driver and 3 wood, and look to upgrade irons next fall/winter (I want a set of sub70 699s, they’re local and amazing and not insanely priced). All told I created a full bag tailored to my needs over time for around $350, and was able to spend more money practicing and playing instead of going broke on equipment and happily rode out the pandemic and getting my score well below 100.

The makeup of this set is almost identical to a half-set I put together out of used clubs for winter golf and for travel. Wish these had been around at the time. Either way, it's really fun and a whole lot easier to carry around a reduced set on a muddy course.

GOLF My father had a 1/2 set of clubs that were split numbers 3/4 ,5/6, 7/8 etc back in the late 50's and 60's. Nothing new there. Until the 1970's most week-end golfers only had Half sets. My first clubs were a half set of boys clubs with even numbers - 4, 6, 8, pw, SI, putter and my Dad bought me a Peter Alliss 3 wood. Which I still have.

When I was younger 50 + years ago, I had a set with driver, 3 wood, 5,7,9 Iron and putter. Played with those until I was good enough to get a full set.
Man I've been sitting here wondering what I'm going to do since I've gotten my clubs stolen. All that money and time put into my bag has just exhausted me mentally. I guess this is what I'm going to have to start off with until I can afford where I was at before. I'm just glad they're starting to come out with stuff like this so I can just get out there in the meanwhile whenever I get that it's instead of not being able to.

Yeah the set is pretty much available in every country that decathlon is in. But I understand in some countries they don't come as a set but are in individual sets.

I haven’t seen this set, but Decathlon and their Inesis brand are breaking into the American market. I’ve only seen shoes so far, though. Golf.
I bet if you did a vlog doing 9 holes with your current clubs and then change to 9 holes with a good set of forgiving clubs (mizuno hotmetal + sim max sort of set up) you would shoot a better back 9 and hit more consistant shots. Would be a good though see if you would debunk the snobbery around forgiving clubs for better players or not as the case maybe??

James, I asked a similar question on your recent video about forgiving clubs, why don't you use a set of more forgiving irons? Perhaps not these, as the gapping might not work out.
