This has been a long time coming, long story short, I'm finally in a position to do RUclips full time and properly. All will be explained in the video of course.
I'm starting the year of in a sunny, and familiar setting of Ainsa in northern Spain.

I live on the French side and get to Ainsa a lot throughout the year as it’s only 2hrs drive. Make sure you get to Tremp and check out Dragon Khan and slick rock. It’s only 1.5hrs east of Ainsa.
If you’re passing back through France once the snow has cleared, get in touch and I’ll show you some nice trails around Bagneres de Bigorre
No way! Tremp is my next destination anyway, can’t wait.
Also, I know Bagnères-de-Bigorre really well. I helped build a house just up the valley from Trebons. Such a stunning area😍

As with the camera; I think I personally prefer the chin mount as I think on the chest, your bike blocks a lot of the trail, although perhaps that's just what I'm used to! Sick video as always and I hope you continue living the dream and making us epic mtb videos!!

I think I prefer the chin mount overall too. This view works well, but isn’t varied enough for full videos perhaps.

Without a doubt the best place to overwinter with a bike. This year sounds exciting! If you find yourself in south eastern France, I can thoroughly recommend the area round Digne les Bains for amazing ebike adventures.
Tempted to head home via that area anyway, so will take a look 👍

So funny you went back to the HERO12 now with the Max Lens 2.0 - this is exactly what I landed on myself too and I can't wait to try it (been waiting for some sunshine here in Scotland). But seeing what it looks like for you in this video has me quite stoked about it!!! It's really good I think - let's us appreciate all that is going on on the trail in mint quality!

I’m fairly pleased with the result from the camera, although it did need a lot of light to work properly.
I’d definitely recommend seeing the iso to no more than 400.
You can also download the labs software and set a maximum shutter angle of 45 degrees, that makes an enormous difference.
@@McTrailRider oh that's good advice. I had never heard about the shutter angle... not quite clear how and why it works, but I'll just trust you on that one!
@@Chris_Knopf it’s relatively confusing to get setup, but the results are totally worth it.
@@McTrailRider Have given this a try myself now, riding in Carron Valley on a dark-ish winter morning [you won't remember anymore what those are like now that you are living the dream in Spain!!]. Used 30 fps with 45-degree shutter angle [but left the ISO at default 1600 to leave it the wiggle room it needs to deal with darkness] and Max Hyper View and the footage came out exceptionally well.
So glad you told me about this because now I can actually use my camera on meh winter days in Scotland and it will still be so worth it! Thank you again, Andrew!

If things get really dark, use the normal lens cover, it’s better again in low light.

If he still rides and he was up for it, a collaboration with him could be pretty good 👍

Hahah pschhhyy pschhhyyy, and thats the sound of dying rotor! If you head to Norway, and only are within hours of Åre bike park (in Sweden) i can highly recomend a visit! And they are building a whole new xc/enduro network close to the bike park! Longest descent is 880meter and the blue flow/tech that goes from the top is 18-20min of pure awsomeness!! And the black tech are world class! Truly worth a visit!
Which wide lens are you using with the max lens mod 2.0? Im thinking of getting one, i just grabbed me hero 12 to, yet to even test it out, but my old hero 8 did fine with just superview and chest mount! Make a compersison if you feel like it :) max lens superview vs normal superview!

I use the “footpath” app for navigation and “workoutdoors” app for tracking heart rate, elevation etc etc.
You can used both at the same time, as the footpath app can be set to navigation only, which lets you do fitness tracking with another app👌

It is my favourite channel for mountain bike content and you should be looking to get a plaque with Royal Approval on your channel like a lot of the retailers in Ballater and Royal Deeside I'm sure the King will have it on his to do list. Looks an amazing route and top riding. Seen other videos from here and I wasn't that impressed but this looks sweet. Amazing they give out such great route information. So you basically don't need a guide or anything. Really cool. Congrats on the funding boost. I wish Instagram paid me. I had a1 million view reel last year and I got.....nothing 😭 🤣 thing is the love of biking comes above all.
It’s a fantastic place to ride. The app is enough info for the more content routes for sure, although a guide is never a bad idea.

What mode do you generally ride in I.e Eco, trail, Auto or Turbo mode? I’m curious, I often test myself in Eco but more often tend to stay in Trail on my Cube Stereo Ebike……….

E-bike mode wise, I’ve found that tour+ can do almost everything that I need, but I use Emtb mode for the punchier/steeper sections. Turbo is for far more extreme scenarios in my opinion.

Any chance you'd move to a chin mounted camera set up? As much as I love your bars, with your stack so high and camera so low, it obscures the trail a bit much for my tastes. Just a thought.
This was just a test run for a different camera setup. I’ve been using chin cam almost exclusively for about 7 years now.

I would definitely recommend La Grave in the Alps, probably the best place I've ever biked.

@@McTrailRider there's a couple of descents from 3200 right down to 1500m at the village. One of them called King Stone Road is on RUclips, pretty epic

What set-up are you using to charge the ebike ? I'm getting a motorhome soon and im toying with the idea of a small generator
I went with an all in one unit from Bluetti, plus a solar panel and a current booster of the alternator to charge it.
What a trail for the ebike. How are the galfer rotors and pads? Stoked king Charles has come good for you 😁

I really like the disc/pad combo. The rear pads were the standard pads and they were the cause of the noise for that short time.

Something to keep in mind if you're gonna be filming a lot in Spain: RUclips mangles the video quality. All the little bushes and branches don't come across very well with RUclips's relatively low bitrate. I don't know how RUclips decides when to reencode a video and how to decides bitrate, but you might want to ask around.
RUclips's been very stingy with bitrate these last few years and it's not even doing them any favors. It's not like they're saving any bandwidth when users have to run 1440p to get anywhere near the same clarity that would be possible at 720p with a reasonable bitrate.
This has always been the case unfortunately.
Within reason though, RUclips treats you better, the more subscribers you have. I think my videos started to look better after about 10k subs.
Still no where near as good as the original files though☹️
