I was facing so many body issues because I didn't know I was kapha body type...Now it makes so much sense... Could you please make a video about what sort of food we should eat as a kapha person? And how they can help their emotions as I get very attached and don't know how to move ahead
I would love to know how to balance combination Doshas. My constitution is a Vata Kapha. I see both of these in myself which is cool. Wondering how to balance both out simultaneously.
Vata-Kapha, yes, that is more particular. They do balance each other nicely in a way as Kapha is grounding and Vata is motivating, but both are cold and both can get ‘down’ for different reasons - Vata because they are exhausted and Kapha because they can get too inert and need some fire to get out of a slump. So, for Vata-Kapha (and in early spring, Vata-Kapha season), you can try to boost fire, but gently so as not to fan the wind. Ginger is good for this - ginger, honey, lemon tea or fresh ginger in almond milk. But also Yoga movement like slow sun salutations or half sun salutations, twists and gentle back bends like cobra. Also, pranayama to warm and motivate, but also integrate. Kapalabhati and anuloma viloma, and also ocean sounding breath. And, since we’re on that note, don’t forget sounding - mantra recitation can be warming and also uplifting for both Vata and Kapha.
This is super helpful! I have a question about blends: what if you are predominantly Vata from an emotional/mental standpoint but your body/physical constitution is heavily Kapha and you have a Kapha imbalance or excess? I am struggling with the latter and am unsure how to bring more Kapha into my mental/emotional space and more Vata into my physical body. Any recommended readings or resources? I just stumbled upon this channel through this video and I really appreciate your words of wisdom. :)
Namaste. Welcome to our channel! We're so glad you found us and that you found this video to be helpful. Yes, many people have two predominant doshas. Because of the nature of Vata it tends to be the first to go out of balance, so you may wish to start there, with balancing Vata dosha. We would recommend that you work with an Ayurvedic doctor so that your specific needs can be met. Wishing you all the best. Hari Om.
Thank you for this. I learnt alot from your video and feel I have the inspiration and direction I needed at this point in my life:) I will watch again ave take notes. Xo
Thank you for your clear explanation. Is there any other cleansing method? My lungs are congested n sinuses blocked. I often get up with puffy eyes n forehead. Need help..Thank you🙏
Thanks for your question about balancing Kapha Dosha. In early spring we move into the season that most disbalances Kapha due to the cold damp environment. Have you ever tried Jal Neti? This is pouring saline water through one nostril at a time with a neti pot. If you are really congested in the sinus area, you can add a bit more salt than you ordinarily do making it still palatable like a salty soup. Do make sure to tilt the head evenly to the side and to exhale forcedly a few times afterwards to make sure you remove all the water from the nasal passages. To help with the mucous, you can also add a drop or two max. of fresh ginger (by squeezing a ginger root) into the Jal neti water. This will make the water slightly pungent, which will help clear the nasal passages. After this, once you sniff the water out with forced exhalations, you can practice yoga breathing - kapalabhati. This is excellent for clearing also. Do also consume ginger and garlic in your food to help also. If you are not familiar with either Jal Neti or Kapalabhati, I recommend finding a trained Yoga teacher to work with you.
Every night I wake up with a completely blocked nose and an extremely dry mouth from mouth breathing. Please I beg you to help me out here. I haven't gotten a proper night of sleep in one year! I am a teenager with a pitta-vata constitution at the moment.
Q: How do I balance drava-bahula amlapitta? Pitta as well all know comprises of water and fire. In this pitta imbalance we have an increase in the water element. Pungent herbs are usually pitta aggravating. But since fire has the power to dry out the water, can they be useful?
Don’t despair, there are lots of options and help available before you even have to consider going to pop a pill. Better go for more holistic ways from planet ayurveda for managing the symptoms of ailments.
Hello mam....Which is best pranayam for male sexual problems for kapha prakruti person...? My sacral chakra overactive.....m suffering from excessive sexual desire....
Namaste. Thank you for joining us, we hope you are well. We would recommend that you work with an Ayurvedic Doctor so that they can support you with your unique, individual needs. Hari Om.
It is written everywhere that kapha people are static in everything, and not creative in nature, so it basically means that if I want to become a painter, I should give up?
Namasté Argina. Thank you for bringing this up. We suggest always following your heart. If painting is something that brings you joy and fulfillment then you should continue to paint.
I am kapha prakruti and suffer from respiratory mucus. If I take ginger garlic I get pitta issues like acidity. How can I reduce kapha without impacting other doshas.
Great question about Kapha and mucous. For this, try using Yoga (posture, pranayama and mantra) and just moderately things like fresh ginger. You can also use mustard oil massage to invigorate. For posture: movement like sun salutation and side bends, twists and back bends, all work in the area of the chest. If you are not already a yoga practitioner, it is important to have a teacher to guide you in asana and pranayama. Breath work like bhastrika and kapalabhati are clarifying. Mantra chanted aloud also has a warming and clarifying effect. Best wishes!
Namaste Diya! We hope you are doing well today. Weight management can be done by eating right foods for your dosha and right yoga practice. We would recommend seeing an Ayurvedic doctor so that they can work with you on your specific dosha type, any imbalances, and support you and your unique needs. hari Om.

how exactly do salads paccify kapha when kapha types have a sluggish digestion and need stimulation to get things moving. correct me if i'm wrong but i thought kaphas needed warming foods primarily, and that pitta is the only dosha that can get away with eating colder foods....
Thank you for asking this. You’re right that Kapha is cool and moist, which creates phlegm. For this, the tastes that pacify Kapha are pungent, bitter and astringent. Green vegetables like kale, mustard greens, and other leafy greens are to varying degrees pungent, bitter and astringent. They also provide roughage to help promote elimination, which can be sluggish in Kapha. Dark green veggies are also important as they contain chlorophyl, the energy of the sun. So, how to balance the cool aspect of bitter and astringent foods. Ayurveda is all about finding how to work with the nature of things. To gain the benefits of dark green leafy vegetables and salad greens, and decrease the cooling effect, they can be eaten at noon time, in warmer seasons and/or with spices that are warming, such as with a ginger or garlic salad dressing. If it is winter and evening, the dark green leafy vegetables can be lightly steamed. Remember that these videos are intended as general advice for Yoga practitioners. Because each individual may have two higher doshas, like Kapha-Vata or Kapha-Pitta, and may also be influenced by their environmental factors and other life factors, for more detailed Ayurvedic nutritional information, you may wish to consult an Ayurvedic nutritionist.
