The sims 1 was most memorable simply because of that tune that plays!! Plus burglars popped up once a week. In sims 2 and 3 im not sure I've ever had one spawn!
With sims 1 I had the best tactic ever to prevent the burglar from leaving without the consequences, let them in and just use all of your sims to block each door to the outside while one calls the police and when the police arrive make way for her to go capture the burglar.
Burglars we’re always a staple thing in the Sims! I loved how they had their iconic outfit lmao. I get that they were terrifying, but it was realistic. And for me at least, it happened very rarely (in TS3). TS4 basically got rid of anything that made it charming
In Sims 1, after the police have arrested the burgler and is taking them off the lot, if you delete the police sim with move object, then the burgler will try and steal again! Dunno if it works in the other games
Easiest way to prevent anything being stolen in the Sims 1 is put the alarm outside. Since outside is technically a room, the alarm will go off immediately as the burgular spawns and the cops will show up much faster.
Not exactly. When outside, it only reacts when the burglar is only a few tiles away. But nothing is stopping you from placing a wall with an alarm next to the spawn points. That way it will go off as you say. (You can do this too in Sims 2, but you first have to turn the wall into a room as burglar alarms can't be placed outside)
If they steal random things, i really wonder if the bag can handle everyhting when the burglar steals everything, he just stole an entire mini-waterfall at 2:20
The Sim 3 alarm situation sounds like a comedy skit. The thief starts screaming and panicing over an alarm going off, residents starts screaming seeing an intruder, only for a cop to run in and tackle the thief while everyone is still screaming.
Sims 3 was my first game and I didn't knew anything about thieves. the first time theif spawning with that music and him approaching from the side of my house with that weird walk was one of the scariest video game experiences ever. I was so confused and didn't even realise that it's a theif until I zoomed in
If you build a fence around the perimeter of your lot burglars can't get in. In fact, they may not even show up cause I put a fence around my lot but burglars were a no go for almost 2 weeks in game, then I gave up and removed the fence cause I was tired of leaving my sims in isolation. Burglar showed up that night. Also, this was Sims 3 if you're wondering.
If they ever add burglars into Sims 4, they gotta add a feature where if the police catches the burglar you will be asked to press charges or not, so you can let them off without getting reprimanded.
I remember playing sims 1! Put alarms on both sides of the street on a tiny wall. The burglar spawned and the alarm went off. The police arrived before the intruder entered the house
I used to make two sets of walls each on the property closest to the foot path, the moment a burglar walked past the property the cops where already there by the time he reached the front door, basically got arrested on suspicion.
This is nostalgic lol The yr is 2000 & 9 yr old me is playing The Sims. Volume on the desktop speakers is at 100% because the build/buy music slaps. I quit so fast & it took about 2 months before I played the sims again 🤦🏽♀️ lol Moral of the story is always buy a burglar alarm.
I love how the burglar has full access to the house without having to pick locks or be sneaky, along with a bag that can fit anything in it. In fact, I'm surprised he doesn't just put the whole house in and be done with it.
I love Sims 3 so much!! My fav thing about this is that Bonehilda is just throwing hands immediately with the burglars XDDD Also the fact that burglars have their own hideout
I have a distinct memory of playing Sims 3 and giving my sims the klepto trait so we could make a bunch of money by swiping rich people’s cars off their lots. Worked every time!

Easiest way to prevent anything being stolen in the Sims 1 is put the alarm outside. Since outside is technically a room, the alarm will go off immediately as the burgular spawns and the cops will show up much faster.
I've been playing wrong my whole life lol
Not exactly. When outside, it only reacts when the burglar is only a few tiles away.
But nothing is stopping you from placing a wall with an alarm next to the spawn points. That way it will go off as you say.
(You can do this too in Sims 2, but you first have to turn the wall into a room as burglar alarms can't be placed outside)
That's how I used to do it back in the day, but I think they really intended it to be used on the inside.
I remember playing Sims 1 on PS2 and having a burglar in my house. That was strange as heck to me.
I just need to appreciate how he makes the same sims, the same house, and the same scenarios in every game
you forgot to mention that maids can also steal like burglars in the Sims 3
Every service does that if you don't pay them lol
I believe there are some premade maids (and babysitters) that have the kleptomaniac trait, so they steal regardless if you pay them or not lol
The burglar theme in Sims 1 used to terrify me as a kid, I would always lower the volume at night so I wouldn't hear it
The music from The Sims 1 caused me panic and fear as a child 😂😂
I remember freeing a thief and getting the gratitude message and increased friendship. Next night the same sim came to rob me again smh
Sims 3 was my first game and I didn't knew anything about thieves. the first time theif spawning with that music and him approaching from the side of my house with that weird walk was one of the scariest video game experiences ever. I was so confused and didn't even realise that it's a theif until I zoomed in
A little mini hack with the alarm system. If you place it on the outside of the house the alarm goes off the second the burglar steps on your property
Thanks
the sims community is probably one of the only ones angry that they no longer get robbed blind in the middle of the night lol
I love the fact that you recreated the exact same house in every sims game! Amazing
I may be wrong, but in TS3 if you have the Brave trait you can try to fight the burglar.
You can :D
That was in the video.
I think the sim can't have the good trait at the same time, or they won't fight.
"Ah sigma... sigma broh" 💀🙏 3:37
LMFAOOO when I realized that I was like “SIGMAAA?!?!”
My guilty pleasure was sims 3 with a bunch of mods installed, such fun times XD
11:45 I love how girlie just takes the entire carpet and puts it in her nonexistent pockets
I remember playing sims 1! Put alarms on both sides of the street on a tiny wall. The burglar spawned and the alarm went off. The police arrived before the intruder entered the house
I appreciate how in the sims 2 there wasn’t an awkward pause paired with the sim adjusting them self into the right position right before an action.
4:05 they’ll also show up in the day if no one’s home
In Sims 3, the lightsleeper trait will automatically makes the Sim wake up upon the burglar stepping into the lot.
@keen8549 I did not know that but it sounds very handy, thank you!
0:20 "Some Sneaky Sim" well said.
it's funuy
since the sims 4 doesn't have burglars then I'll consider my neighbors the burglars for walking in uninvited and using my computer.
The tune in the first Sims always scared me so much! 😅
The moment I saw the Sims 1 animations, I had such a hard flashback, oh my god. The amount of time I've spent playing this game.
7:16 that is such a fun detail
My anxiety started at the ripe age of 10 when I heard the sims 2 burglar soundtrack for the first time
"What a fight! I guess I'm just not the cop I used to be."
*sobs*
I used to make two sets of walls each on the property closest to the foot path, the moment a burglar walked past the property the cops where already there by the time he reached the front door, basically got arrested on suspicion.
''sims will get a negative memory from this''
Thats what we in the industry refer to as trauma
This is nostalgic lol
The yr is 2000 & 9 yr old me is playing The Sims. Volume on the desktop speakers is at 100% because the build/buy music slaps. Recently discovered the motherlode cheat & decided my sims deserve the finer things in life. Got robbed that night (first time ever btw been playing for weeks atp) & being that the speakers were up 100% that music that plays when the burglar shows up scared TF outta me & the lil pop up video showing some masked man whilst all the functions being locked truly traumatized me 💀😭. I quit so fast & it took about 2 months before I played the sims again 🤦🏽♀️ lol
Moral of the story is always buy a burglar alarm.
Has to be traumatizing to play Sims 1 as a child!
That crazy music would pop out of nowhere when the game was the most silent and you least expected it 😂
@@TheRedPlumbob I had a nightmare about the ghosts at the Goth manor once lol.
i LOVE The Sims 1 burglar tune, it fits the game SO perfectly, oh, this soundtrack in general... i'm a huge fan, that's it.
Man, that would be so cool if they added them in the Sims 4. I think it will be very entertaining. Edit: they did it with werewolves, they did it with Miss Gungal bottom whatever her name was. I’m sure they’ll do it someday maybe in next update or next DLC.
