It's good to see how BMT has evolved over the years I went thru in 03 and it was nothing like how it is now so much has changed over the years but I think for the good. Good luck!

I leave in two weeks and I’m starting to get super nervous, my best friend just graduated and there really is so much to learn and be physically,mentally, and emotionally learn to get through, thank you for the advice it helps sooth the soul a bit.

I enlisted sept 14th! I'm just waiting on shipment dates for BMT... not going to lie I'm super nervous.
Also I got into security forces!

Nice congrats man. I enlisted and sworn into DEP 9/29/23 I got a job and my ship out is January 9. So currently doing my best to get in the best shape I can before I go to BMT

Just graduated feb 8th, if you like sports mentality and you want a break form being in the dorm, and also want to be in front of graduation for family be a guidon!! Made my experience 1000x better

I used to be in volleyball where our coach always yelled and screamed at us and punished us. I loved every bit of it. Is that a good sign that I will be fine in BMT? He was a retired vet too, would take us on long runs in the morning singing.

If you’re in the reserve or have dependents do you have to stay on base for BMT or can you go home at the end of the day?
What’s the average time one can wait to go to BMT after DEP. i go through meps in 2 weeks

Yes I’ll definitely do a video on being in the AF reserves :)) and my cartilage piercing is doing just fine:)

I'd say it depends on what you are doing or have going on with your life. If you have good job or think you'll get a good job later in life, then I'd suggest you do reserve.

Yes!! I’d say active duty if you want to make it your full time career however reserve if you already have a nice full time job or career that you enjoy :)

@@dea840I would suggest reserve since opening up a salon is very similar to becoming a entrepreneur and that’s a full time job on its own definitely reserve!! :)
Did you see anyone at BMT in their 30s? I'm in shape, but I'm thinking am I going to be the grandmother of the group lmao? I also wonder about the treatment when you're older. Are they tougher on us or do they look to us to take on more responsibility? Just curious!

Your welcome love! And yes every pt test adds up to points you can get a total of 100% but in order to pass you need a 75 out of 100. 💕

If you start out reserve can you go back to active duty after getting your civilian life in order?
Yes I believe once your contract is up you can definitely switch to active duty and I think after a few years you can but I would talk to a recruiter to be certain!!

Do they allow piercings that are hidden? such as belly button
For the pt test during bmt can you do the shuttle run or do you have to do the 1 1/2 mile run?
No you have to do the 1 1/2 mile run.
Have to do 1.5 unless you fail, then they will let you do the other

What specifically would you want to know about piercing just be consistent with cleaning them and you should be good :))

@@lisahasfal8527 no nose piercing aren’t allowed and yes braids are allowed. You just have to wear them in a certain style in uniform. So likely in a bun to the back.

I live in Satx so im used to this heat im trying to start the process now but my recruiter told my September/October is best month to graduate
honestly he’s right, I just graduated yesterday and it was hot as hell. november and october is usually more comfortable weather wise

Did you go home for a few days after you graduated BMT? Or did you go straight to tech school ?
No the next day you ship out straight to tech school

I’m not completely sure about that one! But I doubt it. Ask a recruiter to be sure tho! :)) good luck.
I have back dermals as well. I leave for bmt in April.
Do they do the hamr test in basic instead of the mile and a half now?
No it’s only the mile and half run. But I went to basic 7 months so they may have changed it.
I’m interested in joining mostly because i want to get into cybersecurity would it be best if I do reserve or active duty?
That depends mostly on if you want to go to school or work a full time civilian job while also serving. If that is the case, serving par-time weekend warrior the Air Force Reserves or the Air national guard might be a better fit for you. If you want a full time style job with full time pay with military benefits may be a better fit for you. It depends entirely on what you want to do lifestyle wise.
Also, don't expect to be able to get a Cyber Security job. It is a very competitive job to get and you don't get to pick your job.

What is tech school?
I would do 100 push ups and sit ups a day or at least 50 :)
And tech school is the training after BMT for your specific job that you chose for the military.
Do y’all have group showers or how do the showers work ??
Yes we do have group showers!! if you are in Disney land you’ll have a max of 18 showers and you have to share that with 48 other girls
Is there privacy in the showers or is it like open bay?

For shoes did you see others with colored shoes? Not black or white
Yes but it’s best to not have flashy shoes or shoes that stand out I would just bring a black or neutral color running shoes.
Okay what’s the difference between reserve active duty and the other one?
Active Duty is full time. Guard and reserves are part time. Reserve is where you serve federal and Guard is serving both state and federal.
My grandson has been there for over a week he called us and said he would be sending his address but he didn’t know when. Why wouldn’t he give us his address after 9 days?
They give him a script to read on the first phone call, but as his flight progress they’ll get more opportunity to call their loved ones
Yes he will be given the opportunity to get a 5-10 minute phone call where he can give you his address or he can write you a letter and give it to you that way!! :)
Leaving March 26th 😬😁 during tech school are you allowed to leave base after class ?

Yes you have to do tech school. Reach out to your local recruiter for all your answers
Yes anyone trying to join the airforce has to go to tech school to get trained on their specific afsc(job)!! No matter if you are reserve, guard, or active duty :))
Does your 1st PT test count if ypu pass it or you still have to do another one?
Yes you will still have to do another one.

@@tanikawhitsett8120If you get a good mile run time for the 1.5 mile, that’ll make up majority of the pt score of at least 50pts.

Air national guard is a good decision as well!!
Will I get to see my family before I got to tech school or after ?
You will get to seem them before and after!💕 bmt graduation and tech school graduation.
how much time do you have to run 1 1/5 miles?
The time is based off whenever you finish the run so whenever you finish it but 20mins max probably :))

So I didn’t study for it I just took one practice test that was online but I would just do both if you would like to get a high score. Good luck!!

Anywhere between 2 months to a whole year depending on how fast u get thru meps and where u are physically

Are you allowed to get your hair and lashes done ?
In tech school yes in basic training you cannot wear lashes at all. You will be able to get your hair done if someone in your dorm knows how to do hair.
Do they offer full tuition for college?
Yes if you are active duty they have MiLTA which is the airforce tuition assistance program which will pay 100% of your tuition you can also qualify for the Montgomery Gi bill and post 9/11 GI bill

Thank you!! 😊 I am from Michigan. I picked reserves over active duty because of the lifestyle difference. I could still have my civilian lifestyle while also serving every month.

Oh yeah you can’t have tattoos in certain areas!! If you really wanna join the military you can always get the tattoo removed!! Good luck.
What’s the weight requirement ?
Yes It depends on your age and height!! I believe it’s like 231 for male but I would just reach out to a recruiter and they’ll let you know for sure.

That’s good!! You still have to take the other 3 PT test though!

Nah it’s like 10th grade stuff. If you need a refresher pick up ASVAB for dummies or something on RUclips. 30 minutes a day for a few months and you’ll be fine

No it’s not hard it’s only hard if you don’t prepare for it!! So I would just say study as much as you can before taking it. :)
join a study group if you really feel like you need to brush up, I did and after studying for like 2 weeks I passed with a 79… Good luck!

No swimming is not a requirement we don’t swim in BMT. At least for the Airforce we don’t :)
It's not for BMT but it is for special forces

Ma'am, Before giving out any advice about the military please make sure that you are within dress and appearance standards.
You shouldn't wear your PT shirt with your blues jacket, your hair is out of regs with your ponytail going past the bottom of your shoulders, also your eye las extensions are not authorized as they do not look natural.
Please refer to the AFI (36-2903). It is disappointing to see people representing the Air Force in a you tube video when they are out of standards.
