Quick question. If a Airman is married and gets stationed over seas but his significant other stay in the States cause of work. How does the BAH work? Does the airmen live on base overseas while they get BAH to pay for in the State apartment?
For what we had to do, we made next to nothing. Not a damned penny more. Once when a Colonel on base found out that most of the Airmen (enlisted) on the base qualified for food stamps, he wanted the officers under his command to talk it up with them and encourage them to sign up and think it of as "just another benefit." Those guys had no clue. Typical for an O-6.
Basic doesn't scare me at all but when you said they can just kick you out of your Dorm it's made me hesitant in joining, what if I don't wanna live off base
If you live over seas, do you get pay US dollars? Like, let’s say you’re stationed in Japan or South Korea, even Europe, i believe USD are cheaper than their currency so you’ll be running money short there but in states you’ll be good? Idk if i explained myself correctly
Hey there, Would you consider doing a video on the current PT test and height/weight standards? I know we get this at the recruiter. Is it possible for you to film one of your SNCO/NCO or Officers taking the test? Thank you.
So you didnt explain being married and having dependent(s), do we get to live off base? When? After BMT? After completing tech school? Just curious. I do not live in the US but my island is a U.S. Territory. I wanted to know when we might be able to bring our Spouse & Dependent(s) after BMT.
Question! I don't really know what the "staff" are called, but are they like literally the meanest people to exist? Based off of what I've heard, they have no feelings and do nothing but give you self insecurity 💀is that true, and what are they like? Thanks so much!
I am so confused. Do you not get payed for your job? If you do HVAC full time in the air force do you not get payed for that? You just get a base salary of around 2K?
You don’t get to see your kids as much as you want too, you miss home, you only get maybe 30 days with them every once in a while when you ask for leave
Hi Mikayla I will have my undergraduate degree in medical humanities and applied behavioral science and my masters degree in public health a year after that. should I still enlist or go the officer route
so if i got to a rank where i could live off base and I happened to be stationed in my hometown I could just live with my parents and pocket the BAH? (I'd probably want to live alone anyway but that's a fun idea)
OH also say im stationed in another state and I was asked to move off base for capacity reasons.... how would I get my car😧 would they pay for a rental or compensate for the gas for my mom to drive it to me/ flight home for her? or would I just have to take the L
Is air force worth staying in until retirement? Or is it better to get the experience and get out to find a civilian job? Everyone tells me the civilian side pays way more than what I’ll be making in my air force job. I’m debating signing a 6 year contract but keep getting told no to take the 4 and get out asap
It really depends on your personal goals and experience. I enlisted when I was 17 and left for basic when I was 18 so signing the 6 year contract, for me , wasn’t a big deal. I got the job I wanted in the Air Force and didn’t know what I wanted to do on the outside yet. I think most people figure it out along the way, as far as if they’re reenlisting or getting out.
There are ups and downs to joining any branch. If you choose your career wisely you can use those skills in the private sector and possibly make more than what you would in the military. Let's say you get into cyber security, that's a high demand job you could perform in the military and as a civilian when/if you get out (and all your training is free through the military.) One benefit to staying in is that you are eligible for retirement in 20 years. So if you join at 20 you could potentially retire when you are 40.
Because prices were different back then. We get more money now because things are more expensive. It is basically the same amount, if you really think about it.
My question is what if you took JROTC for three years in high school? I’ve heard that being jrotc for a certain number of years can make it so that you get a higher rank once you graduate BMT and get a higher pay as a result.
How can people live off these salaries? Do people struggle? I don't know anyone in any of the armed forces personally but I live in a HCOL area on the east coast so maybe the places these people live are super cheap?
In addition to your monthly salary pay which seems low you’re getting money for housing and food. So even though I only make $2900 a month in base pay I’m getting an extra $2800 for food and housing so it’s pretty decent.
