New to straw hats & Felt hats well new to western wear. I bought an Ariat straw hat just cause I like the way it looked compared to the other straw hats they had in this particular store. After that I went to another store the following week and bought a Stetson Skyline 6 x black felt hat. I really like the Stetson! Doing my homework thanks for these videos I’m learning a whole bunch. Thinking for next straw just might be the American hat.
American is a quality company but they have never quite fit me just right even in the same size of 7 3/8 long oval.Resistol fits me like a glove every time.I do have two Resistol 20X Tuff Enuff hats and they are very tough and long lasting.
That is awesome the best thing is to find a head that works the best for you and stick with that brand if the American does not fit you right then that is very understandable not everyone has the same Head shape and that makes a huge difference but I will tell you that with the American hat if you ever go to someone who will put a little bit of steam on it and allow it to conform it will definitely change the way the hat feels and you could enjoy the great quality of the American. I too have the same issue lol I go back to the resistol straw, but love my stetson felt, the felt has been stomped on multiple times and reshaped. The resistol I only got one season out of before the lacquer completely went limp, but fits my head better then the American
Stetson and Resistol both feel very comfortable on my head. American hats are great quality but the sizes are not consistent.. I wear 7 1/4. I can get four American hats all 7 1/4 and they are either too tight or too loose. You would think with the quality control they have that I wouldn't have that problem. Almost every Stetson and Resistol size 7 1/4 fits me perfectly. 😊

I’ve owned Resistol and they make a nice hat but once you were in American, it’s hard to go back to Resistol, at least that was my experience. Thank You for your comment and support of the channel
Correct me if I'm wrong but I was taught to understand that the ribbon should be on the left side for men And the way you show these hats it looks like they're on the right side which are for women Just looking for a little clarification thanks
Hey Albert, thanks for commenting. So all of my hats have the bow or the buckle on the left side as a standard cowboy hat wold no I’m not sure about decorative hats for women where I’ve seen the bow on the right side, but as far as cowboy hats, all the companies now make just cowboy hats and you’re a worn by men or women the shape really speaks to their facial features, but all of them are on the left side, including Charlie one horse, which is a company that makes a lot of hat for women which is owned by the Stetson company along with resistol but all of them are on the left side as the standard now the camera angle might have played a trick on your being able to see that both of my Bows are on the left side on these hats.
Great review, I wish you had mentioned that the American hat will perform better in the rain and if it were to fall off and land in the mud it would be easier to wipe it off and go. I have a Resistol Straw as well and it's a great hat but the American Hat Company just takes it to the next level.
Yes that is very tru and it is a very important part of it I completely forgot to mention that that lacker definitely helps with that also the resistol gets yellow from sweat stains very easily but not the American. They are definitely the best hats on the market and I also did a video of the factory tour as well as my friend Joe Bradburn from the cowboy cartel group if you look into my channel, you will be able to see the factory tour.
The American Hat are hands down the best of the best 🔥 don't get me wrong I love my Resistol hats but American Hat is my personal favorite and it seems to wear longer.

Breaking code and adding a second comment. But I was wondering if anyone can even find an AHC or higher end Resistol straw for purchase ? I found an AHC 8300, Boot Barn had one in stock, so I bought it. I wanted that AHC 7800, but can't find them anywhere. I called my local western store, they laughed at me and said they have 367 AHC hats on order, and looking at next year to receive them. And they're not taking orders. Is this nation wide ?
Hey my friend just wanna start off by saying no codes broken at all you can comment as many time as possible and I would be always more than happy to answer any of your questions. So as you saw in the factory tour American hat company is really hard at work trying to resupply all their retailers so yes they are saying it might be by next year but it very well could be sooner as shipments are leaving the factory all the time and going to the stores. There are a few stores that have taken bigger orders when it was time to put it in and are more likely to have the hat you are looking for I will check Jobe’s hats the best hat store and NRS and if they have it they will be more than happy to shape it up for you and send it to you. I hope it helps you in finding the hat you were looking for.

The literally just threw the hat in a box loose. Needless to say it was bent up when I got it. Won’t be dealing with BB online again. They’re even going to charge me $10 to send it back for my refund.

I will like to say I have never seen a channel like yours or cowboy cartel group and I’m glad their are now I absolutely enjoy watching y’all’s videos and I came from cowboy cartel group videos I saw your videos in my recommendations. My main hat is a Stetson Lobo 10x straw. I love that thing. I do own two Resistol straws as well but the fit was never as good as my Lobo right out the box.
Oh that makes sense so the thing about Resistol is that it is long oval and Stetson is round So if you do try the American I would definitely recommend you to get one in round oval and I guarantee you will love the fit and quality. Thank you for your support

I grew up with Stetson and Resistols, no one in the upstate of SC carried anything else at the time. But now I may have to road trip to find an American! I'm still mostly a felt hat wearer, year-round, but I would like to have a good straw hat for our hot southern summers! Thanks for the great review!

I agree with you. When resistol stuck with making cowboy hats and were a smaller company they were awsome but as they changed into a big commercial company that made apparel and boots they’re hat quality lowered but American hat company stuck to only selling cowboy hat’s and they are not looking to do anything more then that because quality is priority for them and you can feel it in the hat.
Lionel I’m sure you’ve covered this before,if a hat leaves a mark or feels tight on the forehead it’s the wrong shape as in round oval vs long oval.Too much space on the side and tight in the front means a long oval may fit better.Trying to stretch or force the wrong shape of hat on will mot only be uncomfortable bit the brim will either be crooked on the side or turned up in the back regardless of brand.
Yes that is true but essentially both of these hats are long oval and that is what is best for me like I said this Resitol is the best fitting resistol for me in that shape and size as well as the American but the lacquer that is used by American along with its lamb skin band makes it much more supple and easier to conform so it is more comfortable then the resistol is so that is where I saw the major difference.
Appreciate these videos brother. Hey do you know the crown measurements of those hats ? Wanting something with less than 5” crown. I usually wear low crown Atwood’s ( 4 3/4” ). Would like an AHC hat, or the resistol, but worried the crown is too high.
So definitely the American is going to be taller of a crown at 6 inches compared to the Resistol at 4 1/8 I think the shortest American Crown is the 7400 and that is a 5 inch but I would tell you not to go any lower than that because then it affects the fit a bit unless you prefer that fit. American all day just love the hats never had one I didn't like.
