I bought a 2018 BMW 328d in 2021 with 19k miles. In the first year I owned it, it spent over 2 months in the shop because my fuel pump exploded... twice. Of course that happened before they notified me that the fuel pump was recalled. Even with all of the troubles I've had, I would buy 10 more diesel cars. @@sentryion3106 This is accurate. I can not speak for everyone but as a Range Rover owner, I lease. At the end of 3 years I am moving on to the next model.
JLR needs to organize a Manhattan Project internally to conquer their reliability issues. They do so much engineering and design right, and then they shoot themselves in the foot year after year by not producing a vehicle (especially one that pushes offroad chops) that isn't relatively reliable. It's so frustrating.
@@amirjon Like Ford's sync by Microsoft, it worked well. The only reason windows has problems is advert nonsense and you don't have that in automobile software...yet.
We’ve had 2020 Evoque for 65k miles. Just tires and oil. 2023 Velar for 16k miles and 2023 Defender 6k miles. Every once in while the privi pro software glitches. Otherwise very well built and reliable. I think they are doing better on reliability.
I own a 2020 Velar P380 HSE R-Dynamic with 22 inch wheels and all black with rare red accent on front bumper, hood and rear and black out package and rebadged. Only one oxygen sensor in 3 years covered by warranty. Was worried about reliability but so far it has been reliable.
The matte paint tends to be harder to match because the texture of the paint has to be spot on to look correct. If the paint goes on too light it can look flat and too heavy can be more like a semi-gloss.
Great review guys, I have had 5 JLR products and they have all had some issues, but then again so have my BMW X6, middle of Jan in a snow storm, drivers window went down and wouldn't come back up, V10 M5 spent more time in the shop than on the road. M/B E63, endless transmission programming issues. So all the cars/brands I've had have not been perfect, but I will keep coming back to Range Rover as the ride is truly sublime, and the foul weather capability and confidence, second to none! Reliability, meh, any high end car with as many sensors and complex driving dynamics will have issues. What bulletproof reliability, buy a Toyota/Lexus, want to feel great and have the ability to go off to the road less travelled in comfort, style and confidence with capability off - road, Land Rover or Range Rover. The big shame with the group is Jaguar.... That was such an icon of luxury, it was held in the same esteem as Bentley and Roll Royce back in the day. Through the "checkered" ownership, it truly lost its way. I hope JLR can bring back the "J" to the former days of glory it had.

Hey Andrea! Back from the South of France. What a place! If you want to test cars, THAT'S the place to be! Question: Are mat finish paint jobs more difficult to keep clean? I'm thinking since the paint isn't as glossy, that dirt might stick to it more. What has your (or Zack's) experience been with keeping mat paint clean as opposed to gloss. Thanks!
Hi guys another great review - I was sitting here in Edinburgh Airport watching the video and I kept noticing that the driver’s door does not match the rest of the car hence I am guessing why, Zack, you have been asking for opinions from body shops on how difficult it might be to re-spray!
great video, we have this model son order, and this will be our third range rover sport. the issue with reliability is non sense, we had more trouble with BMW X5 and Acura MDX and Porsche Cayenne than we ever had with RRS. great prestigious and Fun SUV to drive
Great video guys. I've just taken delivery of the D350 Autobiography. Here in Wales diesel is still an option and a very good one. I traded in a 2019 Velar P300 which over 29K miles was faultless. Only one Velar problem, excessive brake wear. Delighted to note Land Rover now specifies Brembo. Fingers crossed the new Sports stays reliable.
@volvo_3877 to be honest one word: faultless. Fantastic car. Performance from the 3 litre diesel is excellent. Plenty of torque for ease of overtake. So frugal, 40 mpg is the normal. With 45 on longer runs. It's just brilliant. And I'm not just saying that because I bought one. I'm an enthusiastic driver, also own BMW z4 M40, frankly prefer driving the RR Sport.
Been waiting for this video Andrea. What a smooth looking car. Land Rover with sporty side skirts! Never thought I'd see the day. Be careful at the four seasons Andrea lol
14:43 the all-red brake/indicator combination lamps are a big fail. They're not like that over in Coventry. Why do European brands downgrade their taillights for North American customers?
If Land Rover believed in their own product, they would offer a 10 Year/100K Bumper to Bumper Warranty, the fact they offer one of shorter warranty tells you everything you need to know, if they don't trust it, why should we
I have a 2023 Defender with this same P400 motor, zero issues! I drive quite a bit too as the vehicle is 6 months old and I already have 11,500 miles on the dash! Far more reliable than my BMWs!
2017 RRS TDv6 owner here with less than 80k kms - engine crankshaft broke, truck broke down on the Coquihalla. Get rid of those diesels before the warranty is up. Bill came back from LR Vancouver for $50,000! Get a plug-in hybrid if you want fuel savings. Diesels are done now in North America except American companies.
Another great review. I believe matt paint is harder to look after in terms of washing the car. And LR charge a pretty penny for it. A matt wrap might be cheaper and easier repair if there was ever a scratch.

Ive had a Volvo and Mercedes and people kept talking about how poor reliability was….except I never experienced it because I treated the luxury product as a luxury product. I’m convinced people are pushing these vehicles to their extreme limit or neglecting proper maintenance
One of the things that is really interesting to me is when I looked at the outside view, say at 5:41, and it seems like there are two different paint colors on the driver's door vs. the rear passenger door and rear quarter panel. It looks like the SUV was painted at two different times or something. This is how some vehicles appear after an accident or incident with a door and they only repair and paint one door. Bizarre look for a new vehicle; it makes me question the painting process and long-term appearance.
Terrific video and understandable comments on reliability. But don’t runaway with the idea that they all have problems all the time. They don’t. I’m on my 5th LR and have never had issues with any of them. Perhaps the day will come……

I absolutely love (most) Land Rover products. In my opinion, a Range Rover still holds true as the Best 4x4xFar. As an erstwhile apprentice mechanic (LRJ/Rolls Royce - mid 90’s), I’m slightly biased. At best, Land Rover has an assiduous approach with their R&D and Design teams. They can be almost timeless. At worst…they can be the most expensive vehicle by far to buy, in regards to their maintenance/reliability and depreciation. If I were in a better financial position, if I had the bucks… I cannot think of a better luxury SUV. Just be warned… Do NOT ever consider purchasing any (non-CPO) Land Rover products available on the many ‘Used Car Lots’ for under $10,000. It could be your biggest mistake ever. Thanks for the video.
I can think of,a better one, G class, since both brands are just status symbols. I can really imagine buying a Land Rover, so little interior color and material options and old tech, a Mercedes is a no brained, and a new Land Rover at most has what a 2005 S class did. Otherwise a Cayenne, with a diesel no repairs up to a million km
The Cayenne is an absolute gem… fact. But the G-Class, to me at least, feels far too tight, is too industrial (look and interior) and just doesn’t quite have the Regal presence of a proper Range Rover. The G’s are credibly spectacular SUV’s, but luxury was an afterthought. I remember when the G-wagons first went more upscale. I was hoping that they’d be like an S-Class with a legendary 4WD system. Instead, they were like a Jeep YJ (square headlight years) decked out with a MB C-Class interior. Although they have greatly improved the G-wagon, they just do not have the presence of a Range Rover (Autobiography, ideally). But your points and logic are valid. Cheers.

I absolutely love the way you guys flawlessly cover topic by topic. just one thing I wanna say - in my view, germans are NOT direct competitors to RRS because they are NOT in a luxury segment of the market. RRS is a peace of true luxury in every single inch of it, disregarding reliability 🙂
Very interesting with land rover on the bottom of jd power reliability survey, with Lincoln beside it... back 20 years ago, jaguar was at the swcond top, beaten by Lincoln at the top. Just goes to show these things can change
Not so proud last gen RRS 3L diesel owner here, bought it brand new in late 2018 as a 2019 model, electronic issue within 2 weeks, in less than 2 years ownership, it spent collectively more than 7 months in the dealership to be fixed (not due to accident or thanks lord not causing any accident). The problem is so deep, sometimes the technicians at the dealership weren’t able to diagnose what the problem is on the spot. Kind of like some complex syndrome needs many tests and diagnostics before it can be fixed. Although everything is free because it was well within warranty, the time my wife and me had to spend on (rather than working to make money) and stress it brought are just too big and not worth whatever nice complimentary small gifts (like champagne and courtesy car) the dealership offered. The only good thing after so many repairs is that the dealership was nice enough to allow us to sell it back to it and cover the gap for lease. I will never ever buy a JLR product again. As shit as it gets. Looks fancy and very expensive but extremely low quality and these problems are not usually identified from outside, all hidden deep inside and can be deceptive.
All the same issues with mine, 2020 RRS v8 in the shop every 3-4 months with a new issue. I’ve had 4 Range Rovers and all have been headaches. Ive heard the reliability has not improved with the new ones either. Cant wait to get rid or it
Funny about the coffee 😂. Can you give this US gal some Tim Hortons Love? Since moving from Detroit, Michigan/Windsor area…I can’t get it anymore 😢. Great Volg, as always 😊
Hi! You make great videos. You have an entertaining dynamic and provide well-researched information. Thank you for this :) I'm wondering if you have plans for a video that explains the differences between the new Range Rover and Range Rover Sport. In the past, it was easier to tell the difference in what they provided. Now, they look and seem very similar, including nearly identical interior designs and dimensions. I've watched some videos that try to explain the differences, but didn't seem well researched... For some, they didn't even cover differences I already knew, like the split vs traditional tailgates. In the end, they essentially note that these are mostly the same and which to buy comes down to aesthetic preferences. However, when building these vehicles to what seems like nearly identical specifications, the Range Rover PHEV is nearly 20K USD more than the Range Rover Sport PHEV. It doesn't seem logical that there wouldn't be more to that price difference than design. But maybe I'm wrong... After all, buying a Land Rover is more of a passionate endeavor than a logical one... Apologies for the long comment and thanks again for the great content! Stay well :)
Definitely buy this vehicle if you know a certified mechanic who specializes in repairing Range Rovers. This brand is infamous in the auto industry for bootlegged maintenance

I’ve owned several land rovers over the years in the uk 🇬🇧, I always get rid of them just before the 3 year manufacturer warranty runs out. Not sure how many years warranty you get in North America. One can always get an extended warranty from the manufacturer after the 3 year warranty expires
I think it is a 4 year warranty in the US and while you can get an extended warranty, the cost is outrageously high - as much as I’d love one of these, it seems like JLR would rather you put extra money where their mouth is as they have little to no confidence in their own reliability.
It looks like the paint is slightly mis-matched on the driver's door in some angles. I suspect that is due to what Zack mentioned about how difficult it is to do touch ups on a matte finish paint. Not a good look on such an expensive vehicle.
Great review as usual, thanks. I love that you don't edit out your disagreements. Please consider including Nm and litres for boot space for your non North American followers so that we don't have to pause the videos to do the conversion. Again, thanks.
I don’t understand why people like to be able to to 1,000 km per tank. I recently did a round trip from Minnesota to Key West Florida, my bladder and legs demanded I take break every 3 hours.
Regarding this Range Rover Sport (& Defender or any other Land Rover product) you mention “dependability” from the report you mentioned, but later you mention “you hope that Land Rover” can overcome their “reliability” issues. These are two very different things, so are you using those words interchangeably? Most modern vehicle manufacturers make all of their engines and drive trains last nothing less than 150k miles. There may be some electronic gremlins, and other minor things go wrong, but I can’t imagine anything major failing on one of these new Land Rovers or Range Rovers.
Yeah, I saw this one a few weeks ago and I was amazed. I do wonder if they can get their EV plans going maybe, just maybe they will have a reliable vehicles. I know, I know that's controversial to the diesel and ICE lovers out there.

Definitely a lease only car, and for those who have multiple cars to drive when this one is inevitably being fixed at that. But God is it gorgeous; why can't Lexus build a car that looks this good, inside and out? Having said that, the new Lexus GX looks interesting and is a nice departure from Lexus' recent design language.
I’d recommend leasing it but I wouldn’t buy it. Also get a glass option on your insurance because that front windshield is ridiculously expensive to change
Great looking RR at the end when you showed what else you could buy they just looked boring esp the BMW and Lexus is a defender rip off and the Merc looked like a very old design

I have to admit I miss diesels. 30 years ago, I had a VW diesel and got an average of 900km on a tank. 1000km when driving purely on the highway.
My parents had 2 car with 1.9 tdi, and I used one for a year and a tank got you 1300-1400 km. Then a 2.0 and a 1.6, but those did a bit worse
Has reliability improved ? Excellent question ! 👍.

Cant wait to get rid or it
A beautiful looking SUV both exterior and interior. Just hope they can get better reliability in the coming years. Also another great review guys 👍👍
Funny about the coffee 😂. Can you give this US gal some Tim Hortons Love? Since moving from Detroit, Michigan/Windsor area…I can’t get it anymore 😢. Great Volg, as always 😊
Does it have sun blinders?
Speaking of matching the paint on a respray. In several shots, the drivers door appeared to be a different shade. Did you observe that in person?
Not in person but in video, yes.
Hi! You make great videos. You have an entertaining dynamic and provide well-researched information. Thank you for this :)
I'm wondering if you have plans for a video that explains the differences between the new Range Rover and Range Rover Sport.
My fancy neighbor used to have a Range Rover and a Discovery. He just replaced them with Porsche Cayenne and an MB GLC. That says something to me.
I am English and I don’t drink tea just coffee for me
Love the Range Rover sport
A solid ride yes indeed, a nice design as well
Beautiful 🥰😍💘🌻 and breathtaking SUV, both interior and exterior, but the price is not only ridiculous, but completely insane.$236 000 is madness.
You guys love your Porsche Cayenne, and rightly so, how do rate the Range Rover Sport in comparison, there or still shy of the mark?
15:36 the comment on reliability begins... and the comment is "the product has only just been released, so we will have to wait to see""
It looks like the paint is slightly mis-matched on the driver's door in some angles. I suspect that is due to what Zack mentioned about how difficult it is to do touch ups on a matte finish paint. Not a good look on such an expensive vehicle.
Ive had 6 landrovers. Never ever had an issue with reliability. BMW in my opinion has more issues these days especially with the interior tech.
Can it handle pot holes and broken roads without breaking?
Love matte paint..
Great review as usual, thanks. I love that you don't edit out your disagreements.
Please consider including Nm and litres for boot space for your non North American followers so that we don't have to pause the videos to do the conversion.
Again, thanks.
will you be reviewing the chevy blazer
I love to see her smile when she mashes the peddle! 😂
I don’t understand why people like to be able to to 1,000 km per tank. I recently did a round trip from Minnesota to Key West Florida, my bladder and legs demanded I take break every 3 hours.
If I saw you in my area I would care less about the car I’ll be looking at the driver 😍😍😍
Can't wait to buy one in a few years to play around with: For about 20 percent of MSRP ;-)
For what its worth my wife has a 2020 Range Rover sport and it has needed more repairs than any other car weve ever owned
nice car. Zack and Andrea is a great perfect endorser.
You guys have invented a new vehicle category: ‘UAV with no reliability!’
JLR reliability is like Apple battery life. Its not a problem just people like talking about it. Had many rangerovers and had very little problems.
can you provide any actual reliability data??
A fabulous car to lease.
Yeah, I saw this one a few weeks ago and I was amazed. I do wonder if they can get their EV plans going maybe, just maybe they will have a reliable vehicles. I know, I know that's controversial to the diesel and ICE lovers out there.
Very nice looking vehicle.Would not touch it with a ten foot pole. The new Lexus looks intriguing .Not quite the cache but you know it's reliable.
Love this car ❤
Crazy how after many years they still haven’t figured out the reliability thing, and even crazier people still buy them.
beautiful.. I'll take 2 please.
Am I the one person to notice that the drivers door is a different color than the other panels on the vehicle 😳
I’d recommend leasing it but I wouldn’t buy it. Also get a glass option on your insurance because that front windshield is ridiculously expensive to change
I loved my Land Rover Sport but spent too many days at the dealership. It’s really a shame because when it runs it’s a great traveling, roomy vehicle.
Which year did you buy? What were your issues?
2017, engine, stop start, door molding, struts that I can think off right now.
@@loriengle3197 sry to hear that. We just bought the 2024 sport so far so good we also purchased the extended warranty.
When you accelerate I completely sure you use at least 2 gallons
It pretty reliable now!😊
I see you two in a 2023 Range Rover Sport, but a Porche Cheyanne should do...
Great looking RR at the end when you showed what else you could buy they just looked boring esp the BMW and Lexus is a defender rip off and the Merc looked like a very old design
Such s beautiful suv but it sucks that the reliability is what its Achilles' heel. Now they using the bmw v8 again will that further it down
14:02, Diesel is gone from non commercial vehicles here in Canada....
Nope, still sold in GM full-size SUVs and pickups like Escalade.
I feel complete now that I know you really drink coffee in your videos... I would have been devastated if I had found out that those cups had no coffee.
LOVE coffee!
