Untrue. Even if you never plug it in at all you still get a substantial benefit from energy recovery under braking, and the ability to do slow stop-start rush hour condition without burning a lot of fuel at the most wasteful crawling speed for internal combustion. Just like a normal non plug-in hybrid
Phevs exist because until relatively recently it was mega expensive to pack enough batteries into a car to get an acceptable range and it was reasonably easy to convert an existing model to phev without rebuilding your cars from the ground up to support full ev. @@harryspeakup8452 Thats just wrong. I used to own a Range Rover P400e PHEV and the energy recovery under braking was minimal, certainly not enough to increase the battery range by a single mile. And the other problem was that, just like the new Sport P510e PHEV reviewed in this video, there is no capability for the engine to charge the battery. Basically in both cars, once the battery runs out they just become a car 400kg heavier than the equivalent petrol/diesel version with a smaller fuel tank so not only do they consume more fuel but the range is reduced even further because of the smaller tank. I have just replaced my P400e with a new Sport D300 and that is achieving 35-37mpg on fast motorway runs and is averaging 33mpg overall (compared to 27.9mpg for the P510e in this test). It might be worth getting an oil change and reset the oil counter. Have experienced on some Evoque PHEV's, the oil dilution will prevent correct operation of EV. There has also been a change in oil spec. This is only if your vehicle starts in EV, gets up to 12-15ish MPH and then ICE kicks in. Other issues are with the HV coolant heater, they can lock themselves out, car will start in EV but as soon as you pull away it will kick in ICE.

@@HandHaben New svr will comes with bmw V8. Its more powerful than i6. Not 50 more hp it has 90more horse power and huge torque (750Nm) [in Big Range Rover] it will be more efficient in sport model
Almost 8 Miliion Now
I remember days when Carwow had 350k subs❤🎉
Why would this have a lower towing capacity than the normal version?
Not allowing a 0-60 in EV mode only is such a great safety feature. I almost crashed while overtaking last summer in a Peugeot 508 hybrid because it was in EV mode when I floored the accelerator. In hybrid mode the overtake would have been totally safe
Not true at all. I can easily accelerate to the highway on pure ev mode on my a3 e-tron almost 100/100 times. However if you suddenly plant your foot ICE will kick in. The issues for you were 1. You did not know the power of your car in ev mode well enough, and do your moves based on that and 2. You drove a peugeot which apparently doesn't work that well 😂
I trust you have put your free driving license back in the cereal box and sent it back now then?
@@Jonsk111 well how can you answer to my comment regarding a Peugeot car from driving an Audi? Your first point is also wrong as I do know the ev mode's power limitations but as with many close-call situations, this happened too because of human error on my part; I didn't realise I was in ev mode and not in hybrid, because there is no differentiation between the two modes in the gauge cluster, apart from a tiny text that. I wouldn't put a crying from laughter -emoji as a response for someone who's just sharing his own experience about one particular car.
@@Birdienvideolaari yeah I get that but you called the biggest issue in this video a great feature
Check engine light is already on 😅
4:30
That’s out my price range😂😂
I can’t believe you didn’t throw the parcel cover Matt, outrageous!!!!
I think it's the best luxury SUV, who agrees with me?
The car looks like Hulk of cars
The Rolls-Royce cullinan is a great competitor for this car they both have Insane amounts of luxury features and the range is definitely a buy
would rather have the rolls tbh
For the sport? Nah vouge maybe
Rolls Royce Cullinan starts from 264,000 so for the same price you can get a Range Rover a Range Rover sport and an Range Rover Velar 😂
The Range Rover SV would be the closest to the Cullinan in terms of competition
5:55 you didn’t yet that cargo area cover. 🤦♂️.
I love Range Rovers and Land Rovers I think the best make in the world they can be reliable as long as you maintain your car and service it like other cars but people don't. There is nothing as good as a Land Rover
ayyyyy lmaoo
@carwow did Matt just say the car is supposed to do 328 mpg (7:12)??? I want this car...😂😂😂😂
Prefer the regular Range Rover, but a great machine nonetheless!
How can they say that it does 70 miles on electric alone, when you can't accelerate at a normal rate without the engine kicking in?
I had the same question. From the review I got the impression it never ever actually wants to drive in EV mode.
Accelerate at normal rate isn’t equal to launch control lol
Nice car, looks fantastic... tough if I would be in the market for a car like this, I would go for an BMW X5 50e.
gle is better it can drive more electric
No doubt range rover is best looking suv and best buy in the segment
It's definitely a gangsta car!
what 7 seater (sports) car are there?
What a beast from India 💪 🇮🇳
it's definitely not from India
Land rover has been bought by an indian company.
@@v.s.727 so what. VW bought Lamborghini and Bugatti, that still doesn’t make them German or a Volkswagen
@@rekaarnes I don't know where the Hang over has been developed. But on the Bugattis and Lambos you can see the german influence.
@@v.s.727 and still they aren’t German cars. Not even the Urus, which is basically an Audi Q8.
So glad I discovered Car wow! It’s like a good version of a modern top gear. I really am craving longer format though!
Mat’s Brummy accent is probably the only brummy accent I can bare listening too 😂
This range rover is insane❤
I prefer this Range Rover Sport over the RR Stormer Concept.
No weeing in the house
Hi Matt, what's the exterior color called on this one?
I like your reviews 👏👌
Was this filmed on an iphone?? What are those night shots?
Aslong as it sounds like the V8 we are good.. If not!!! 😬
can you do another video about 2023 range rover velar? plzzzz.
in their defence i feel like 28mpg for a big heavy range rover is impressive mileage compared to petrol
so that mpg deduct further for spending money and polluting when charging. Its strange when people say oh my hybrid does over 60mpg and then doesnt add 30% of the costs for charging the car. So when you combine all costs it's much more expensive than diesel
what dou you think about 4 wheel steering ? ? ? is it realy necessary and helpful for roadholding ? ? ?
It wouldn’t be necessary but its definitely very helpful, if you live in an area where you’d want a small turning circle then it’s necessary.
If you completely run out of fuel, will it then give you the option maximise the potential of the electric motor
why does it not have a re-gen facility?
is there a reason?
HELLO TO EVERYONE FROM TAJIKISTAN 🇹🇯🇹🇯🙂
Matt, compare this with a Mercedes GLE hybrid…you can use the electric battery on its own for up to 60 miles, it recharges on the go and is plug in too…more reliable and lower cost to buy and currently getting 50mpg….I know because I’ve got one!
Mercedes Gle is not more reliable than a RR
That image quality at dusk is really something XD, someone used his 2000s old Nokia I see
When my senile grandpa refuels, he accidentally pours fuel into the charging port and almost catches fire
So if most people don’t plug them in, and they only go really fast with both battery and engine together, WTF?
I have a Golf GTE and plug it in all the time. 🤷🏻♂️
Matt, I have an idea. Your hybrid range rover here, drag race me with my mk7.5 VW golf GTE, in electric only mode..
Smoke ye.... 🔥
What colour is it please??
