    Reminds me of a REALLY cold morning years ago; truck wouldn't start. Grabbed the ether, sprayed into the carb, and KA-BOOM! Put a dent in my hood with my head, trying to escape the fireball. Ignition wires sparking to ground EVERYWHERE (dry rot), ignited the ether......old wiring is like the 4th of July in the dark, with all the arcing going on.

    Josh you may have temporary fixed it but look your video @roughly 35:02 look between the coolant tank, and the associated overflow for left right view and to the left and slightly below the ?oil cap? (Black with yellow letters) look carefully and you will see what appears like a spark plug spark it appears it’s easier to discharge to whatever it’s jumping to than via the spark plug . Review and see what you think.

    Good job Josh. Remember when plugs were to be replaced at 12000 miles and cost about one dollar each? You would get them on sale for 69 cents. You really should take the plugs back out and put some anti seize on them. you will be much happier when you replace them on the next tune up. Be well brother.

    • @johnme7049
      @johnme7049 13 дней назад +1

      @@hozerdzyou Generally speaking, Iridium plugs are rated to be replaced about 80-100,000 miles so that engine could easily need another set someday PLUS there is the very real possibility that he may want to pull one or more of them while troubleshooting something in the future just as he did here. The longer the plugs run without the anti seize the higher the chances of messing up threads while pulling one out. Balance that against the time to redo it correctly now. And even if He gets rid of the truck before then, I don't see Josh as someone who would put that on someone else.

    You own a fleet of late model cars.
    All of them made after 1994 have odbIi Conectors
    The difference between a budget 50 dollar scanner and a 1,500 dollar scanner is the 1,500 dollar scanner will point you at the right cylinder, the 50 dollar scanner will just make you open a parts cannon
    And waste a bunch of money on parts to find out thats not the issue.
    You going to do any work on a modern car you should own a quality scanner or you wasting time and money.
    The car care guy gives you options on good scan tools.
    One of the best ones is snap ons
    But its about 3 to 4k.

    The 2002 Chevy trucks were made well; it is a keeper for sure. Best running plugs I have found are the NGK brand. As far as the WRX rebuild run don't walk away from it. The WRX is a difficult rebuild even for those who are very experienced with them. The WRX is an expensive rebuild and blown ones have a high degree of internal damage sometimes missed even by experienced Subie mechanics.

    Your truck is OBD2 its too new to be OBD 1 which ended in 1996. Having learned mostly on OBD2 systems P0300 is a general ignition code. 301-8 will be related to a cylinder by the number at the end.

    I remember when the truck started using an aluminium and I don’t know what I was thinking. All I was thinking was dumping cinderblocks and heavy toolboxes into it or something thinking there’s no way I would want to truck bed or dump bed that was made out of aluminium, but it’s just basic logicyeah the aluminium isn’t quite as tough as steel but you eliminate rust and anybody with an old dump bed or pick up truck knows that rust is not good and I’ve been converted. I love aluminium now.😂😂😂
    I think it’s cool now they’re all kinds of coatings out there that you don’t have to repaint. They just sort of encapsulate the paint with a very long lasting wax that will last two or three years make your old patinas nice and shiny and you see a lot of of it in the automotive restoration community so I’m sure you already know about it in the past they used to use a hot beeswax to sort of do the same thing and it would last a year or two so you don’t have to repaint it just becomes clear and make sure patina that exists shiny And is cheaper and easier you just wipe it on and you’re good for a couple more years and it’s cheap enough where you can just do it every couple years as maintenance and you’re good and it looks kind of cool. You might want to try something like that it wipes on with the rag and it’s sort of like a medium quality clearcoat it’ll make it look good. It’ll protect the paint. It’ll keep the water away from the metal and prevent rust and last a couple of years plus a lot of people don’t see it cause it’s kind of in the restoration automotive industry and channels but you have more farm stuff and it’s a great product for using on tractors and stuff like that too simple it’s fast and you basically have a clear coat and rust prevention That’s super easy and fast and cheap compared to repainting so I think it’ll be cool on your channel to show it.

  • @ShaneZettelmier

    I’m watching at the point where you’re taking the coil out and I think you’re probably right but with the gas pressure sensor issue makes me wonder if it’s time to change the fuel filter out, 200,000 miles it might be clogging up a little and slow in that pressure down a little And hitting the sensor but it wouldn’t cause this much of a problem though you will get some uneven fuel pressure because the way the fuel rail works is when you’re below pressure certain cylinders are gonna get more of that and as it travels through the fuel rail the pressure will continue to decrease as each fuel injector is taking fuel Out if you have low pressure pressure the minimum pressure is based on maintaining pressure throughout the fuel rail when you’re running fuel through the injectors, but if it’s low when you get to the last injectors, it’s not getting enough and that can affect specific cylinders. I’m sure you’re gonna go through it it could be plug and if it was an old sitting engine I would think potentially vowels or something like that but you use this periodically and on an LS6 litre engine along you run it every couple of months you’re probably never gonna have those problems with sticky valves. But I’m thinking in lines of maybe fuel injector bad wire bad plug but I think you’re right I think if that coolant’s been dripping on there for a while you may have corrosion on the terminals down in the wire if it’s leaked down in there or shorting but it 200,000 miles it could be a lot of the little stuff like plugs or a plugged up fuel injector when I start getting up the high mileage every now and again I throw some seafoam in there. Try to keep everything cleaned up. Pulling and looking at the plug, you could see if it was covered with foot or oil or something to give me an idea of other potential problems and to see if it’s burning right as well. That big plug cap and the brown on there shows it’s burning hot and it makes me think of the sensor talking about a fuel pressure issue again. I agree with you on the tuneup at that point I just replace the plugs and maybe the wires if they were bad, but you seem to be working And I would do the heel filter as well just to see what happened. 702 Tahoe 5.3 L and had kind of the same problem just not as bad as getting a little bit of a mess and stutter and did the tuneup with the wires and the plugs and it ran perfect afterwards.

I asked if she had started it and she said no, went out to the truck then came back in and left me her keys. I have your old f250 7.3 extended cab red and white truck with the bull guard. Why is the engine welded together?

    • @StoneyRidgeFarmer
      @StoneyRidgeFarmer  14 дней назад

      hmmm.....I don't know buddy, I bought it from a friend on a handshake deal, he's no longer a friend of mine...honestly I lost about $3k on the sale of that old truck.....you say the engine is welded together? What do you mean? All I did was put a windshield in it and sold it. My "friend" paid like $4k for it and sold it to me for nearly double!! That's not a friend is it! I thought it was a good looking truck though. Feel free to email me pix stoneyridgefarmer@gmail.com so many "flippers" out there taking advantage of folks!

    What ever became of your tire issues?

    • @StoneyRidgeFarmer
      @StoneyRidgeFarmer  13 дней назад +1

      Nothing really I had to come out of pocket to pay for the bad tires that were on my car. Continental only replaced the ones that were failing. I couldn’t trust him so I replaced all four.

      Man...tough to argue with this LS platform being some of the most reliable and long lasting trucks on the road....a tune up and she's ready. I think every truck deserves a tune up at 200k miles...even if it's running good lol

      There’s a specific repair related to those heater hoses that I’m going to do. They are known for chronically failing and there’s an upgrade. Video coming soon.

    Nice dump truck platform get a new engine go through hydraulics new radiator get bed of dump part to dump quick then keep it until it's warn out then sell it to somebody you don't know "As Is " it's a used truck with miles on it. Let it go then. Great Chevy power plant nice radio with cd player decent speakers for you to listen to. Drive it for set time then look for home
