I use to own the fx500, sounded cool but wasn't built very well, felt kinda cheap. Button s were blah. Switched to a qaudraverb but would love to get the fx40.
Man this sounds great. Of these 4 pedals, I only have the FX40. I'm very happy with it and I use it a lot. I really like what the sounds you have created here. I do have a POCKVERB reverb and delay pedal and the Cloudburst by Strymon. Maybe I'll try to link all 3 together and see what I can get.
Thanks for watching, friend! And that sounds good to me! Give that a try and let me know how it turns out. A chorus and/or a flanger would be nice to get mixed in there too, if you have either.
And I'm glad to upload a new video! This idea was floating in my head for a while and I finally got to recording it today. Such cool sounds when you combine these type of FX together.
You're welcome! Thank you for watching, I appreciate it. If you're using that you can also add a compressor and EQ if you like, which the original signal chain used. I think the EQ requires a boost to the lows by about 1dB and then cut the mids by 5dB in the 1khz freq. Also if you want that really muffled droned out sound of the original, I believe the reverb requires pre-delay mixed in generously, or, you can add more feedback and time to the delay FX.
Nice video! I’ve recently become more interested with shoegaze. I have the Walrus Slöer for my go-to reverb and I have it placed last in my chain. I’m going to try placing it first after watching this. Thanks for the video and demo! Edit: stupid auto correct.
Correct! The chain is still "reverb > flanger > delay > chorus" just the physical placement is reversed because of my setup. The physical chain here instead starts right to left and my guitar is going into the Catlinbread and out of the Chorus into my amp.
Thanks. I just got the soft focus pedal and people are missing out if they think they can get the same effect as the original without a delay and additional modulation. I’m using the soft focus with dimension c (chorus) and a boss hi band flanger. I just need to get a delay pedal.
@@thechroniccinephile excellent! I mentioned in the video I didn't include a compressor or EQ, which was part of the original chain, but you will be fine without those. If you want the washed out original sound, just increase the feedback and use a slower time on your delay than I used here in the video.
This sounds beautiful. It's the kind of sound i luv
Nice sound. I don't recall a flanger being in the chain though. Thanks, subbed.

No feet :( 😢
sir, this is a riff channel 🤨
@@RIFFpost but but but we want the shoegaze effects 😞
@@byrdmanalb88 well if you put it that way then I get it, but if you originally meant "feetgaze" then that just sounds completely different 😆
@@RIFFpost lol 😆 no no no
Thank you very very much for breaking this down! I'm going to try to replicate this with my HX Stomp XL.

Good job recreating that sound ! Very Cocteau Twins! Subbed

Aye! Enjoy. Let me know how it goes. I like that Walrus reverb pedal, would like to own one.
@@RIFFpost I will!

New Riffpost video!!!
Great sounds!!!
So the Catalina bread is first going into your guitar right?
