Had y'all been out there earlier in the year, ya probably would've been swimming in fiddlehead ferns ripe for the picking. Foraged wild foods like those sell really well to restaurants and at farmers markets for a good price.
My wife and I stayed at this resort in July 2007, in a room that was almost identical to the first room (though it was on the other side of the lake). It was a spur of the moment getaway where we only had one night free from our very young kids. Unlike its sister resorts, this one didn't force you to book a multi-night stay to get the Champaign room, and since it was a mid-week visit, the rates were a bit more friendly as well. The kitsch was part of its charm, and we were disappointed when it closed just one year later.
That's why the carpet crunches when they walk on it. 20y of loads dropped all over. I would never walk barefoot in those rooms, even back when it was in operation.
We went there for our honeymoon in 1997. I wanted to go because it was so tacky. My wife and I love kitsch although we stayed in one of the villas, not the champagne towers. We went in January to go Skiing and it was record cold that weekend. They canceled the snowmobiling and other outdoor activities because it was dangerously cold. they had an indoor skating rink ( I think that was the building near the end of the video)The food was decent and they kept us entertained. We had a great time. Sad to see it slowly rotting away.
David W Ryan. It was a lot of fun. And they did have a lot of things for Us to do. I'm might check into seeing which ones are still opened. Depending on what is happening around the World. I watched a few videos, one shows you how to look for spying bugs. You would be shocked where they can hide them. Even in smoke detectors and so many other places. The other video gives you suggestions to bring from home. Like a small bottle of bleach in a spray.bottle. make sure you clean the toilet and then the bath tub. Don't put anything on the bed cover. That's when the dark blue light will really show you stuff you don't want to see. Bring your Own Blankets and pillows and pillow cases. Bring wipes, make sure you wipe the telephone down. In case you have to call Service / Office. Wipe down the t.v. remote. Bring your Own towels and either bring flip flops or slippers. Although right now with this Covid stuff going on, they have to really clean the rooms. Still don't want to take a chance. Thanks for sharing the info. By the way the two videos that I just told you about. They were shown about 15 years ago. Since then it didn't matter where We went I still did what the two videos stated to. That includes at Disney, which We won't go there ever again. When We use to go to the Casino as well as other places We traveled to. Stay Safe Guys. God Bless.
My sister went there for her honeymoon back in 1973, so the round bed, the heart shaped pool and the champagne glass jacuzzi is more of the 60’s and 70’s influence. They were there a long time.
Looks like a gorgeous place in its prime, with a bit of every decade since it opened in its decor, God i hate mismanagement sometimes lol, and so cool that you found those commercials. This was a very cool and risky exploration, great video!
Great video guys. I have to agree with Devon on the rooms. The 1st one was really cool and romantic, but my favorite was the 3rd one, the villa. These places could easily be turned into condos or apartments, such a shame they are wasting away. And I am so surprised the Egyptian artwork has not been stolen. Those are beautiful. Stay safe guys and thanks for the great videos.
I remember seeing signs and stuff for this when I was younger (back in the 90s). It was still kept somewhat nice then, but it was starting to get run down. It's a shame that they couldn't find ways to update it to more "modern" times. I understand that sometimes you can't, but with theme hotels becoming a thing again, it's a shame it couldn't hold on longer.
That brings back some memories! I never went to any of them but I grew-up in the region and in the late 1980s and early 1990s they advertised a lot. I heard that they were hitting hard times in the 2000s but didn't keep up when I moved away soon after that. The champagne glass hot tubs were such a big selling point in their marketing.
Looks sorta like the Poconos in northeast pennsylvania. Unfortunately a ton of those resorts where burnt down in the last 10/20 years. And that service road was a logging trail as you can see from the lack of a full forest.
When I lived in Jersey I sent away for a brochure to this place. I remember seeing pictures of the glass style jacuzzi's and thought how romantic and sexy the whole place looked.
I got married in 1987 and the resort we went to in the Poconos had that theme room too. They called those the “Champaign Towers” We opted for the “Fantasy Apple” I thought the champagne glass in the room was kind of “cringe” as my 16 year old son would say. I agree with you; my favorite was that three level room. BTW Love your work! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I’m glad you edited out the name of the resort in the commercials. Hopefully it will keep this location safe from those tagging and destructive losers a little while longer.
Definitely. Grew up right down the road from Penn Hills, but it's almost completely gone now. This place is like Cove Haven, which is still in operation, right up the road from where Penn Hills was.

It was closed in 2008 and that was right about the Recession and the housing collapse. A lot of hotels and properties closed down or sold out to other property management companies that used the land for something else (or nothing else). Considering the timeframe the Recession was likely the reason why it closed down for good but many other commenters in the area of the resort say that it was starting to get on its last legs before then.
@@PhillyCh3zSt3ak I did take notice that they had an idea of plan to possibly reopen sometime down the road. A lot of things had plastic covering them, and if it is completely abandoned why pay security to secure the grounds 12 years later if closed in 2008?

I Googled (easy to find when you use certain keyword features from the property) and the pictures of it back in the day when it was still an active resort are very neat, too. Oh, and there are some RUclips videos of people cavorting in the champagne glass jacuzzi tubs. :)
In my worldview, a heart-shaped jacuzzi with champagne-glass jacuzzi, a sauna and round bed (I had one in the early/mid 80’s and it was really cool to sleep in! Finding bedding for it was difficult back then) do not mesh well with an Egyptian motif. Somehow I can’t imagine there were many pyramids, Egyptians or camels in the area. The toilet room in a home with indoor facilities when it was new was named the “water closet” and they had a chain pull to flush. I’d opt for the one furthest away from the children’s area, whichever room that would be. I have to say I’m surprised you didn’t run across any deer. Oh ikr. That was driving me insane. I was yelling at the screen "it's called a Murphy bed!". Well, I guess people under 30 yrs old might not recognize this term.
@@robertschnobert9090 The Second Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals in New York determined that the public had adopted the term Murphy bed as a “synonym for any bed that folds into a closet,” so the name is now generic.
I went there in the 1990's and stayed in the champagne bathtub room. They had a photogropher book appointments and they came and took glamorous photos of you in the tub, heart pool, and bed. They told us to pour the whole bottle of bubble bath in the champagne tub and fill it. It was really cool. So sad to see something that was so unique back then and then to see it today.
This particular resort is/was in the Poconos still operating into the early 00's. Those 'champagne glass' whirlpool tubs were it's signature attraction. Always surprising to me how such investments are left to rot. I'm curious as to know why this resort did not sell-off most of the hotel assets when they were viable items to be reused elsewhere. The two-seater, compartment shower stall was over $3k at the time and by my guess the champagne glass whirlpools with attachments would have exceeded $15k back in the day. It's odd there is still 'paid' security on-site. A place which may still have life in the 2020's. Just a wee bit of financial love to do it.
I know this was commented a year ago, just leaving this for people watching now like me. The Poconos resort is still open, this is a sister property in the video. I've stayed in the Champagne Glass room in the Poconos recently.
Love this place, I can imagine staying there when it was open and having a bath in the giant glass lol - brilliant. Sounds a bit pricy from the other comment I saw so maybe that’s why it’s like it is now. Fabulous find 🌹
@@mousejjt2 you totally should. They have all different kinds of romantic packages for add on’s. Like wine and chocolates and bubbles for the tubs. It’s a very romantic getaway.
It's true, I live right down the road from Cove Haven. Never been myself but it always seemed kinda neat! Unfortunately all the other old resorts around here are half demolished and burnt down now.
Those are some unique rooms, I would definitely love to have the third one that you showed with the three levels and three bedrooms. Excellent explore.
I absolutely love and look forward to your videos I wish we saw more more often but I get addicts a while to explore and then edit anyway sending love to your channel ❤️❤️ PS my favorite room was the last one you did by far
I remember these commercials back in the 70ies as a kid. I wanted to go in that champagne glass jacuzzi so badly😆 this resort was in the Poconos! My parents went there for their honeymoon in the early 60ies...their room did not look like this though..They had a sunken walk down tub and that was as sexy as it got😆
Definitely Poconos here. Almost all of these cheesy 70s 80s hotels repped this shit like heart shaped tubs circular rotating beds with mirrors galore and the good ole champagne glass hot tubs
This kind of reminds me of the place my wife and I stayed at for our honeymoon. But ours was Western themed. It had a lot of unique stuff also. I don't much care for the Egyptian theme, but still enjoyed you exploring this place nevertheless. Personally, I'm with you. I liked the last room that you explored the best. Very open floor plan and could of been a very nice getaway from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. I enjoyed the old advertisement you showed at the end. It really added some perspective to the video.
There's a very similar resort to this that's down the road that is still operating. I just stayed there with my husband in November and it honestly doesn't look much different from these rooms at all, except they were much cleaner obviously. But the tubs/pools/beds are still very of that era. I could have sworn we drove past another similar resort that looked abandoned, but we took a different way home and didn't get a second look, I bet this was it!
Yes he does. A VERY calm soothing voice that makes u want to listen MORE. Other explorer's voices are irritating. I can do with out all the dry mouth ASMR sounds from their voices. Ughh
Both styles are architecturally interesting, if a bit bizarre on the Egyptian side. I think the hole in the wall once contained a safe for people’s valuables. As always you have done a great job of showing it. The “Presidential “ suite was a bit of overkill to my thinking. I liked the Murphy Bed in the family cottages. The time for this style of resort has had it’s day, and isn’t likely to return since there are so many alternatives now...and newlyweds tend to honeymoon abroad. At varying points in my life I could have enjoyed staying in any of the styles, but these days I go Air B&B. Stay safe and keep enjoying what you do.🖤🇨🇦
It's crazy this particular resort is abandoned but the company as a whole is still in operation! You'd think they'd be defunct or something but when I checked them out, you can still book with them and such. Amazing find man!
@Dark Exploration Films Nice Video. I would stay in all of the rooms. I think when a toilet is in a closet, it was called a water closet in the old days. Thumbs Up on this video!
I wonder what made them go with Egyptian themed stuff in that kind of place. Looks strange with the tub, Champaign glasses and things like that. I'd have expected like lakes with moonlight or flower scenes. The opening and closing music/video went really well together. Another cool video guys! Thanks for sharing. Edit: Ok if I would have waited I'd have known that was the Cleopatra suite. lol I liked the 2nd ones with the fold into the wall beds.
what a cool place defenatly 70's and still in pretty good shape... love it!! greretsz from holland ... max ps... if i was there as a newly wed ... defenetly the egyptian rooms.... lol
Definitely reminds me the Poconos I would almost swear that was one of the like Cove Haven Poconos Resort I know there's three in existence now maybe there were more I was at 1 just a month or two ago
Less than 30 seconds in I could tell by the forest it was the Poconos. I believe 2 are still open. Cove Haven and Pocono Palace Resort. I live about 30 minutes west of these places in northeast pa.
Another great video by one of my favorite channels. I already said this on your Instagram, but that heart-shaped pool is 10/10. It's definitely one of my favorite things about this place. Thanks for sharing! (:
Beautiful video!! Thanks for sharing!! The only Egyptian theme is the art work, everything else is modern 90's . It would've been nice if it was decorated with sheer curtains , gold , royal blue / marble tiles , tall planter urns with ferns , columns , furniture with carved wood, statuary etc.... to make it Egyptian style theme..
I really love the look for the rooms at 22:52. I wish I could have seen it when it wasn't decaying. I would love to have a place with that kind of layout.
If a guy took me to this hotel, I would do whatever he wanted. It looks like so much fun to stay at! I stayed in the glitter room at the Madonna Inn once. It was sooo cool. This hotel since really playful as well.
Great videos guys!! Ty for sharing! Beautiful woods especially here.. just found your channel recently and binging today:-) excellently done. I have a lot more to watch but love it so far! Blessings and be safe guys.

This looks like it was nice for vacation people used to schedule this stuff regularly. I cant help but think of the Blackwell Ghost series though and other documentaries about serial killers its eery
Went there with wife & kids in 1998. Stayed in ski chalet looking buildings across from main clubhouse & outdoor pool. Those were the Cleopatra rooms you guys were in. Wife & I stayed in those, but at Ceasar's Pocono Palace, which is still open. Caesar owned 4 resorts like this at one time. This one, Brookdale, is the only one that closed.
@KrissyRoseAnimallover Brookdale was Caesar's family resort option. It was very family & kid friendly with magicians, clowns, arts & crafts, etc. The rooms were just regular hotel rooms with a mountain theme. The section for couples only was smallnand on other side of the lake, nowhere near the main family section.

@@robertschnobert9090 The Second Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals in New York determined that the public had adopted the term Murphy bed as a “synonym for any bed that folds into a closet,” so the name is now generic.
The poconos is such beautiful area also these places are salvageable too .I liked the three level ones myself
I would stay in the Egyptian room with the champagne glass. So cool! 🥂
Such a beautiful forestry area to walk thru!! All those lush green ferns!!! It’s already a great video and I’m only like 3 minutes in!!!!
Incredible! I wish something like this still existed for use, so upset it is not operating. What a beautiful space gone to waste!
There is. There are three sister properties. Cove haven has these rooms it’s the champagne tower suite
The last unit would make a nice apartment
It really would!
Very much enjoying the slow, thorough walkthrough, but I also had to laugh at the zoom in on the cricket with the "look at that spider!" comment
Where is it?
@@shanae142689 its in PA in the Poconos
Just realized I'm watching this right before Valentine's Day. Pretty fitting. :D
Bahaha, reminds me of the hotel room Clark Kent and Lois Lane stay in in Superman II, nice. 👍🏼
Was thinking exactly the same, went looking in the comments to see if anyone else thought that 😂
This particular resort is/was in the Poconos still operating into the early 00's.
@@andwatifisedno Thanks for the update.
Love this place, I can imagine staying there when it was open and having a bath in the giant glass lol - brilliant. Sounds a bit pricy from the other comment I saw so maybe that’s why it’s like it is now. Fabulous find 🌹
I stayed at Brookdale…I’ve stayed at all the Caesar’s resorts over the years….I was at Pocono Palace a few months ago lol!
You can come stay at one that is still open in Pa. It’s called Cove Haven. It’s like stepping into the past.
I wanna bring my woman there soooooo bad
@@mousejjt2 you totally should. They have all different kinds of romantic packages for add on’s. Like wine and chocolates and bubbles for the tubs. It’s a very romantic getaway.
It's true, I live right down the road from Cove Haven. Never been myself but it always seemed kinda neat! Unfortunately all the other old resorts around here are half demolished and burnt down now.
I remember the ads for this on TV in the 80s surprised this was not redeveloped.
This resort still looks like it is in good shape and it might be worth reopening with some renovation and retheming.
There’s still a couple of places like that there till this day
I remember commercials in the 70s too!
🤩 🤩🤩
This place is kinda spooky! Great explore as always. You are the best narrator 🥰🥰🥰
This is the coolest abandoned video I have ever seen.
Great video....i think I liked the last one the most as well lots of room and I loved the design
Just can imagine how any people would be filling and staying at this place. Great video!
Edit: Ok if I would have waited I'd have known that was the Cleopatra suite. lol
I liked the 2nd ones with the fold into the wall beds.
fantastic seeing the original retro styles
This is the Poconos!! I have pictures of this exact place.. Same rooms. My parents went there in the 1980's!
what a cool place defenatly 70's and still in pretty good shape... love it!!
greretsz from holland ... max
ps... if i was there as a newly wed ... defenetly the egyptian rooms.... lol
idd als je gaat met je kersverse partner dan zou ik ook die kamer kiezen,en als je met gezin ging dan die laatste accomodatie.
@@gothic_witch7475 lol... samen in dat champagne glas lijkt me heerlijk....
@@georgenichols7718 I think this is the Caesars Brookdale resort in tannersville which is now a drug rehab place
This is the Poconos
I never heard them say the location. Looks like a place I was at in the Poconos back in the 1980s
@@RR448 yes it is
Actually stayed in that room with the champagne glass tub for my honeymoon in 1995. Wow cool!!
Another great video by one of my favorite channels.
I already said this on your Instagram, but that heart-shaped pool is 10/10. It's definitely one of my favorite things about this place. Thanks for sharing! (:
That song at the end of the commercial just screams, "1970s"!
90's. I have that video stashed somewhere. We stayed at all of the other resorts they owned.
OMG!! I went there for my honeymoon.. many many years ago.lol How sad to see it in such disarray.
"Groovy baby, yeah!" What an awesome time capsule. Bet that resort was wonderful fun in it's hey day. Thanks for sharing it with us.
7:05 "wow .. look at all the mirrors .. this is cool". I suspect he has no idea...
13:11 AMAZING that you found AND included the adverts!
I graduated high school in 1973 in PA. All of the bridal magazines advertised these type of rooms.
Omg the pool had a heart on
The round bed took me straight to Austin Powers 🤣.
cool finds, its crazy how you found that old advertisement
Another awesome video about an almost forgotten era,Thank you🤗
I also liked the beginning, planning to avoid the car owners by using tactics, that's great. And gives some adrenaline rush😉👍
P.s. that little smirk of you while talking about the romantic 70's made my day😅
Great find mate... Glad you enjoyed yourselves and definately the last room was best.
This looks like it was nice for vacation people used to schedule this stuff regularly. I cant help but think of the Blackwell Ghost series though and other documentaries about serial killers its eery
I’d stay in that last place. Very cool video- really enjoy your perspective
As usual, great exploring😎 the artwork is amazing
Went there with wife & kids in 1998. Stayed in ski chalet looking buildings across from main clubhouse & outdoor pool. Those were the Cleopatra rooms you guys were in. Wife & I stayed in those, but at Ceasar's Pocono Palace, which is still open. Caesar owned 4 resorts like this at one time. This one, Brookdale, is the only one that closed.
Why would u bring kids to a place parents get away from ? Like seriously inappropriate
Yay! Never clicked so fast! Starting my weekend off right! 🌸✌️💜
Awesome place in its time. To bad theres no more like these around.
There are three sister properties to this all in operation today. Cove haven has this exact room it’s called the champagne tower suite
Amazing!!!
I’m definitely picking the heart shape tub ;)
Great video, thanks for sharing. I would definitely stay in an Egyptian room!
Definatly more than 1 couple shareing these rooms 👀
