- We all know there's a new Taco in the wings, but exactly when it'll land is anyone's guess right now. While we wait for Toyota's re-invention of their successful mid-size truck let's answer the question on all of our minds: is it really that good?

One word RELIABLE...that's why. People want a truck they can trust. I wish car manufacturers would focus more in reliability vs having the latest tech. Tech is great, but I'll take reliability any day.
The main selling point for the Toyota Tacoma is the legendary reliability. My 2007 Pre Runner is still going strong after 250K miles. My uncle's late 90's model is still going strong with over 400K miles.
Can't help but feel like that was in a time when it was rare for vehicles to last that long without expensive routine maintenance or repairs however competitors have now achieved a similar, albeit not legendary, degree of reliability. Alex didn't say it but he may be thinking that in just a handful of years there may be actual examples to cite of people driving their non-toyota trucks >200k miles with minimal issues and models that don't skimp on style, tech, and all around driveability. But yeah, Tacoma is still wearing the crown in many ways.
@@arturocardona140 all vehicles break. Toyotas and Hondas are much less likely to break. Ask any mechanic.....
@@loveydovey4u It's damn annoying getting a notification for a 12 day old comment from someone who didn't even read in full: " however competitors have now achieved a similar, albeit not legendary, degree of reliability."
I never said T&H are more or just as likely to break as other vehicles. My claim is that the current generation of vehicles are just as reliable most likely but most vehicles on the road are used (several years old) so it will take time for mechanics to see the trend and the public/market to adjust its outlook on the reliability of vehicles by makes as it exists by manufacturing standards today. Keep in mind, if true this is while providing more current tech and typically at a lower price point than Honda or Toyota.
Hey that’s more important that all the new technology that most companies of competition offer
Agreed and I do not want to settle for a Hybrid that is occasional off-road capability or extremely limited range due to power shortages. Toyota is a very competent producer and will not disappoint.
Why were our parents ok with vehicles basically staying the same for years, sometimes for over a decade. But this generation of buyers needs a complete refresh every few years? If it works, why change it?
i bought me a 23 SR5, extremely happy, it will retain its value for a long time specially with the new model no longer coming in a V6. I am glad Toyota was true to its tacoma recipe with the new generation. People can complain about the low roof and high floor, but that is the selling point of the tacoma, among many other things. i parked next to a stock Ridgeline, we had the same roof height, yet my truck was about 3inches higher, this is the Tacoma's dna and im glad it continues on. btw, this vid was highly influential on my decidion even tho i was already set on the tacoma. i did also have a 2013 tacoma 10 years ago also.
This truck in vid is sr5 but at 6:53 he’s showing where the rear locker is??? Do newer 3rd gen sr5 have rear lockers now?? I didn’t think any did?
The truck in the video is a Trail edition. Here in canada, it is priced around the TRD OR and Sport models.
I really don't think the roof line of the ridgeline is as high as the tacoma. You have to climb up into a tacoma.
The larger trucks are too wide for my parking area. The quality and reliability are second to none which is why I just picked one up with all of the features I wanted including a 6’ bed. I expect to have it a very long time.
is there reliability with all the electronics I bet it is costly to repair after the warranty? My 2015 Tacoma Base 4 x2 backup camera is not working and Toyota's estimate is $1400 job with labor...so of course, i don't have a backup camera anymore...i thought since backup camera has been with us a long time it would be be less expensive..i will get a Toyota again but without all the sensors and camera as much as i can avoid.
@@legion1630 Of course the dealership is some ridiculous price. They are called stealerships for a reason. Guaranteed at least 80% of that quote is just labor.
How are you liking your Tacoma?
Thanks
I am burnt out on dealing with Other vehicles…Been running the other brands for the last 14 years…they are all over priced junk. Yes, they are luxuries, fine, comfortable but they are not designed to last. You buy, make payments for 4 years then out of warranty and slammed with repair bills…almost certain most other car manufacturers design vehicles such that they fall apart around the time the warranty expires so that customers keep coming back trading in and getting the latest and greatest models (I get it, we are all in the business to make money)…but as a consumer it’s a revolving door of expenses you never escape…at that point your car payments are like an electric bill…just a life long bill. No other piece of equipment is managed that way.
Going back to a Tacoma for the reliability. I want something that works and not have to worry about. Pay it off and have invested in a descent piece of equipment you get your money out of. That’s where you win with the tacoma. If a person wants to keep a new vehicle every few years then the Tacoma is not for you. You work hard for your money, get what you want. For me, going back to simple.
Amen
I sold my Tacoma 12 TRD off road and bought a Ranger Lariat FX4. Here is why. 1. Comfort. I am 6'3 and I found my tacoma to be almost claustrophobic and sitting I was looking through the shaded top of windshield. Horribly uncomfortable. 2. The power train. I live in Wyoming and am often at elevation and the turbo in Ranger performs So. Much. Better at altitude. I am not a "brand loyalist" dude. If Tacoma makes the cab bigger and goo turbo maybe I would go back. I just drove the Ranger and I was like this is so much better for me. 26K on Ranger. No issues. Not bashing Tacoma, just wasn't good for me.
I taught myself to drive a stick on my parents 1999 Taco. 23 years and 400k later they still have the thing. It’s my go to vehicle when I go there to help on the farm. They keep saying they will replace it when it dies or will it to me when they die.
Now that is a vehicle to own!
I recently got a 2022 Tacoma. I realize it’s “short comings” but I love it. It’s one of the most versatile vehicles ever. Especially when you factor in price.
Literal shortcomings, the cab is really short so you sit in them like you're sitting in a sports car. They aren't the most comfortable truck on the market and they aren't the highest performing mid size truck. What you have is really solid performance, reliability and great resale value. I sold my 2005 Tacoma and bought a VW GTI so didn't change the seating position much :) Now I'm a 49 year old man and looking for more comfort, thinking maybe a grand Cherokee.
Compared to the present toyota tacoma models..especially with 6 spd manual...other truck brands are uninteresting..
"Compared to mid-size pickups sedans over $50000" made me laugh 🤣
especially when he is driving an sr5
In the coming apocalypse, the giant irradiated roaches will be driving Tacomas…..🍻 Thanks Alex, You’re the best!! 🍻
It's a little beast of a truck. Pound for pound the most rugged truck out there. Quality, reliability and simplicity are main reasons I bought one.
You also forgot to mention that the Tacoma v6 2GR-FKS you know that “mini van” motor you keep throwing out there is a 6 BOLT MAIN motor that not to many trucks even full size trucks can say they have , which by the way is very detuned in the Tacoma for longevity and reliability, the lotus sports cars has that same motor that’s in the Tacoma 2GR-FKS that puts out close to 500 HP , Lotus barrows that motor from Toyota , and in Japan that 2GR-FKS is used in rally cars that pump out 7-800HP , because it’s a 6bolt main motor it’s very robust !
Bought this same model as a daily driver to and from work. After owning other brands, I agree with most of the negatives but this works overall for me. Bought for the longevity of the model.
I have owned three different Tacomas. I still like the 2003 Sr5 with manual 5 speed, 4 cylinder engine, window cranks and manual door locks best of all. We had that 17 years and still miss it.
That one was from a time when automakers built (and people bought) enough truck to do the job. Now almost everything in the pickup world has to be 'in excess'. The 2.7 engine Alex dismisses in this video produces almost as much power as small block V8s were making in full-size trucks of the 80s and early 90s.
The pastor of the church we attend put over 300k on a 2015 before buying a new one. He gave it to his oldest son earlier this year, and he's still driving it.
I like the body style and the V6 option
Seating position?
I got a product called "seat jackers" for our old 4runner, and had 100% improvement. 😊👍
Only can go up so far and then your head is against the headliner?
@@matthewprather7386
Just use spacers on the front mount. Your head will be no higher, but you get thigh support, and more space for longer legs.
Makes a big difference.
Bought Seat Jackers!!
GAME CHANGER
Having a 89 Toyota pickup with the 22Re, you come to appreciate the hard plastics and how well built they are 🤣🤣
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Love my TRD sport, manual transmission, lifetime truck.
best review ive watched yet thank you i enjoyed the info
Alex, The Tacoma may be living on borrowed time but with record sales nearly every year, it is certainly NOT living on borrowed money😉😉😉. When it comes to my bank balance, I might borrow to buy a 4Runner coupled with a handy utility trailer but not a Tacoma. Am I the only one pining for a simple, single cab Hilux with a manual transmission and the tried and true 2.7 truck engine? How about the return of the mid-size T100 with an 8 foot bed? 🤔
On my 2nd Tacoma in 15 years. No issues with either. It's nice not worrying about repairs.
@@TheJoncic why ever change trucks? Only 7.5 years?
Almost! Single cab trucks don’t sell.
@@ATH_Berkshire I amended my original comment which I typed in haste.
Even in developing nations, most Hiluxes have four doors.
GRADES for the truck
Handling - B
Ride Quality - B+
Cabin Noise - C
Fuel Economy - C-
TRD Sport can also be had with a manual, but only with the access cab with 4X4. It's also the only way to get a 6 ft bed with a manual.
I had a 5 ft double cab manual.
2 things keep me from even thinking about a Tacoma.
1. Fuel economy
2. Comfort. The seat is so low I feel like I'm almost sitting on the floor. Even with spacers you can't get the seat to a good height
The seat has been power adjustable with height adjustment for years now.
@@CapELarry yep, in some trims
@@PorkyPie01 me too
Yup I’ve got power driver seat in 2022 DCLB. I’m 6’ and have tons of room and adjustment
Hi Alex, I like how you emphasize the body/seat ratio which is really something they need to fix. I think its been like that since the first generation actually. I have an 05 double cab myself and the seating weird. Toyota needs to lower the floor and sacrifice some ground clearance or raise the cab height becasue the way it is right now and since then...isn't it. Thats why I wouldnt think about any upgrade on my truck becasue in some ways this truck is inferior/superior in different ways. Thanks for your review!
I'm in queue to buy a 2023 TRD Off-Road, just wanted a Manual Transmission as this year model may be the last for it.
Alex great videos as usual thank you. I keep seeing titan and am looking for frontier. Do you mean frontier? Thanks!
I absolutely love my 2023 Trail Edition and Im so glad I bought a Tacoma before the re-design. I've had it for 10 months now and have zero regrets! I get about 21mpg average commuting to and from work which is better than my FJ Cruiser. I hope Toyota doesnt head into the wrong direction but it looks like they are.
I had a budget of $100,000 to buy a truck and test drove MANY new trucks midsize and full size , the decision for me was very easy when I test drove the Tacoma , I bought brand new 2021 TRD ORDC in automatic and now with 30k miles on it I love it more today than day one when I drove it off the lot with 3 miles on the ODO
Good choice
Ford raptor, light years ahead
I.B. , my. Brother has a 2020 raptor he bought brand new don’t even get me started on it , it’s pure JUNK, yes performance is good when it works . It’s been to the dealership for issue after issue mechanical issues not infotainment stuff , raptor is so overrated. My 21 Tacoma has 40k miles on it and it has yet to go to the dealership for anything ZERO issues . To me that’s worth $100k I don’t even want to see a dealership let alone have to take my truck in every few months , to busy for that crap …..
Driving comfort has been the biggest issue for me. I tried but never could get comfortable. I'm obese i guess.
In 23 I heard that the redesigned 24 Tacoma was loosing the 3.5 V6, so I started looking for a new TRD Off Road, double cab with the Premium and Technology pkgs and a 6’ bed in either White, Barcelona Red or Lunar Rock.
I had specific wants and needs. Sure I found a LOT of 5’ beds, but I have to have the 6’ bed for what I use our Taco for.
I finally found one on 2/29/24. It was the dealerships Owners pickup with 6K miles.
It’s White. I Hated the factory Black Leather interior, so I contacted Katzkin and had them make me TRD Red seat covers with black trim and stitching.
After Katzkin removed the black leather seat covers and installed the TRD Red Leather covers, I sold the Black Leather to a friend who owns a 23 TRD with grey cloth interior. He’s happy with the Black Leather and I’m over the moon with the TRD Red Leather.
During the first week of owning my Taco I installed a K&N cold air intake and a Flowmaster FlowFX turn down exhaust system.
The FlowFX and the K&N allow my 3.5L V6 to breathe easier, while giving my Tacoma a deep throaty sound.
I was told that these 2 mods increased my horsepower and torque and mpg.
I dunno about the mpg part as I have a led foot.
Next will be an Overland Torque Tune so that I can get 100% of torque from 2K RPM until the redline. This tune will also STOP the transmission from “hunting” for the right gear to go into.
I’ve added a few TRD red trim pieces to the interior.
Eventually I’ll have my White Tacoma 2 toned in Barcelona Red metallic painted into the body lines.
My last truck was Silver and I had it 2 toned with Red metallic. I received Many compliments on my color choices. I also had the interior reupholstered in Red with black trim and stitching.
When I sold that pickup I got top dollar for it. The new owner Loved the color combination, as did my wife. In fact my wife suggested that I 2 tone my Tacoma as well.
The 3.5 is kind of a dud in that heavy platform. No power until revs are screaming. It was a parts bin motor used in the Camry. Toyota knew they were sales leader and could get away with it for a few years. The manual trans is geared lower and a bit more tolerable with the 3.5 than the slushbox auto. A 2.4 turbo should be better in the next gen.
Yup, couldn’t age more.
I agree. The manual gearing doesn’t match the 3.5 v6 at all. It’s like the engineers who made the engine never talked to the engineers who developed the transmission
@Jonathan A this is one of the laziest and poorly-programmed traditional automatic transmissions on the market. It’s not because it only has 6 speeds. It’s just not meant for this truck
I really don't get why they didn't give it the improved 4.0 like the 4Runner.
@Jonathan A It's better though and gets basically the same fuel economy. Also it's been updated. It doesn't have the 239 hp the one in the 2nd gen Tacoma had. 270 hp and 278 lb-ft as opposed to 278 hp and 265 lb-ft in the current Tacoma.
I've owned my 2006 Tacoma prerunner TRD sport for more than a decade. It's the most reliable vehicle I've ever owned. That's why I dread to let Virginia go almost 170k miles later. She's dependable and peaceful and I'm her most loyal companion.
keep her and get a new Tacoma
F 150 owner here but Fairly id say the Frontier ( besides parking issue now ) is bout as Reliable. See many many old models and news ones out there. Fair you said new ones but most say much on it aint really new so. Just my opinion.
Parking?
Yes the old Frontier was probably the most reliable new truck you could buy 2-3 years ago.
It’ll last you 500,000 miles easy. This is the truck to get.
“Easy”. I have a Rav 4 with 250k miles well taken care of. I’d say calling it “easy” is disingenuous. If you want to pay more $ into it than it’s worth after 200k miles then it will work. But for most of us it’s better to sell to put the $ into a new vehicle.
@@aztronomy7457 Regular oil changes is more or less all it takes to get toyotas to 200k+. Not a lot of other brands can say that.
@@bodega87 for the engine yes but there’s lots of other parts that need maintenance besides engines. Struts, engine mounts, alternator…. I could go on. To 200k you’re right but 200-500k you need a decent amount of $ to keep it running
@@aztronomy7457 other cars don't have those parts? sorry not following your logic. yes, you'll need to buy new tires and some brakes too. gasp. many cars don't run to 200. you don't need gobs of cash to keep a toyota running past that, theyre just usually showing signs of use, again that makes total sense.
I'm excited to see what Toyota brings out for the new Tacoma. Especially on the heels of the new GM trucks as well as the new Ranger that should be coming. But I'm more excited for the prospect of a new 4Runner
I couldn’t agree more. I’ve been waiting for the 4Runner unveil for a few years before purchasing anything!
Prepare to be disappointed is all I can say
And the reason I know that is because Toyota will absolutely screw this up. It’s a universally known fact that Toyota and Lexus constantly screw up and their new releases are always letdowns
Alex no mention about the Ridgeline in this comparison?
I love mine but had to upgrade the stock suspension (TRD OR) to make it work for me.
Comin from a 2021 Rav4 Hybrid XSE to a 2021 Tacoma TRD Off-road im loving the truck so far. My biggest complaint isnt even really a complaint, but i miss my gas mileage😂 i averaged 36.5mpg in my rav and now in the taco im averaging 19.6. Ouch🥴
What dealer options reduced the payload from 1,500 pounds to 900 pounds?
and Toyota still milking another year out of the Tacoma. Gotta love the rear drum brakes..
The drums suck big time and don’t forget to mention the weird as f brake booster on trd models
Yep they keep working just fine.
Just out of curiosity what 🛻💨 in the competition is BETTER off-road than the Tacoma? If you're thinking the ZR2 is more capable❔it does have a front locker but it also has much better tires than the Tacoma, I think if you match them on tires it would be very VERY close even tho it doesn't have a front locker. I picked up a '22 TRD 4x4 off-road, I wanted the V6 + the manual transmission cuz it's a proven power plant for many years, seems like a lot of people have problems with Chevy transmissions but 🌮 known for being reliable AF, VERY good off-roading, awesome aftermarket support & of course it's a Toyota.. not too keen on boosted vehicle's myself. They get heat soaked after a few runs & you're toasted after that! All motor you can run them as hard as you need to Time after Time. I live in Phoenix so when your car gets up to 175° just sitting in the 🌞 imagine how hot it gets when you're cranking all that boost into that motor 🤷
Alex, the legroom numbers you showed must be wrong. How could Ridgeline have more combined legroom than either F150 or Ram? Ford’ website shows 87”+ not the 77.4” for the F150 you had.
I was wondering about that too. But to be fair, I do find it ironic though that everyone beats up on the Ridgeline and it has a higher payload than the Tacoma.
Alex, I see the next gen Tacoma using the 2.4 turbo from the Lexus NX and an 8-speed auto and I see the Toyota crowns up level 2.4 turbo hybrid as the up level engine. Just my prediction
Driving position was one of the reasons we didn’t buy a Tacoma, also the many complaints regarding the engine/transmission incompatibility for towing
wow my coworker traded theres for Silverado for towing too. They said it was awful
The seating position in the Tacoma is awful for taller people. I’m 6’1” and it feels like I’m in a beach lounger. Great trucks for what they are but terrible seating position.
@@pryme2013 There is nothing much more comfortable than a beach lounger. Not sure why that is a bad thing.
@@steve8803 funny. Maybe at the beach with a cold margarita
@@pryme2013 I'd rather my legs be stretched out. When in a 90 degree bend for long periods, I get hip pain. Of course, it's all personal preference.
Better MPG's are great but stricter emission standards are driving the bus these days. The T4 in the Tacoma will not get that much better MPG's over the current 3.5 V6 but will emit half the emissions. So let's hope the T4 hybrid gets better MPG's.
Bought my 2019 TRD OR 4x4 new - Jan 19 I’ve got just under 250k trouble free miles. Many of those in 4WD.
Just a great on/ off road truck. It will go places off road my larger GM 4x4 vehicles won’t.
I'm expecting Toyota to upgrade most things on the new Tacoma, but I wouldn't doubt if they kept the rear drum brakes. Still cant believe you can buy a $50k trunk with drum brakes new, even if they work perfectly fine.
The drum brakes will be gone most likely. The new platform has discs all-round and 6 lugs.
@Iambodp what difference does it make?
The drum brakes in rear can easily last well over 100k miles and the stopping power is great. They have kept this old school bus going because it ain’t broke. So why fix it?
Are you positive that's a 2023 and not a 2022? Pretty sure all 2023 models (including this Trail Edition) have push button start.. am I wrong?
Sold my Ford and bought a new Tacoma. One word…”RELIABLE”. Enough said.
I had that 1994 pickup that you show.
If new vehicle prices weren’t so overpriced one would have a nice down payment on the new and better 2023 canyon with the equity in their taco.
Why did your dimension comparison include full sized trucks? I thought this was more of a Midsized comparison.

I would rush to buy a base one under 25k.. if they offered a Manual for the 2.7L 4 Cylinder, still.
I thought TRD sport could be had with a Manual?
Yes I thought every TRD had the manual.
I have a manual sport on the way
@@Ooblar_Yimblap thats the one. I think it would be pretty ideal. Mind me asking the cost? Ordered? Any options?

I rode shotgun and drove my buddy's tacoma and while I 'get it', it just wasn't for me. Pretty cool to drive from a nostalgia standpoint but otherwise not very comfortable.
Outside of the resale/reliability area I have never understood why so many buy it. If I knew I was going to need something for 10+ years it would be a contender, but honestly there is so much else about it that I don't like, I would probably go with an SUV.
The maverick has blown me away for the hybrid aspect and having better interior comfort than this, but with it selling out so quick I am not sure when I would be able to get one. I am really hoping that the next gen Tacoma has a high MPG version and fixes the cramped weird interior. If those two things are there it will be at the top of my list since I anticipate keeping my next vehicle for 200K+ miles.
Agree, but the fan boys ignore the obvious
Don’t expect the Tacoma to be better
It’ll be 99% worse than the current one and become undesirable
I agree, buying something for "good resale" and reliable seem like things that are not worth it if you don't like how it drives and feels every time you get in it.
The Tacoma dominates because of its proven reliability, durability and longevity. The 4WD system is the best in its class.
I’d love to find an older 4WD Tacoma V6 and manual transmission to use as a plow for our private road and driveway.
The seat Jackers help with the ride height
My 2020 F250 diesel tremor super duty truck gets the same or better fuel economy, has a factory integrated 12k warn winch, 35”’tires, rear locker and will go anywhere, all while having incredible tech, luxury and 2700lbs payload and 14,000lbs towing… But I guess the Taco is cheaper and more maneuverable?
I agree that this might be goodbye to the V6. Its too bad that it can't get a bit more power and fuel economy. A nice update to the interior and power train would be great. They can leave the body alone. But that never happens does it.
Not a bad thing.. if it isn't broke don't fix it... change is not a good thing.
Oh brother you sound really fun
Man, sounds like he would prefer a horse…
You know, 278 horses ain’t bad…
He said a shoebox in the glove. My shoe box is bigger than that truck. JK I just bought a 2023 TRD off road and I’m in love
I just rented a new tacoma for a week in ny. 4wd. How can a small pickup with almost 300 hp, that can go 100 mph be under powered.. Transmission worked great. Ride was stiff but it was off road 4x4.. If you want to tow , hit the ect button. Had enough room for me 5ft 11inches. My son rented a new Ranger 4x4 at the same time. It was a great truck but the stop and start was terrible. I liked the tacoma just as much..
Nice
i love my tacoma but the seat hurts my ass after a while lmaooo
Its about time a new Taco is coming
Add me to the list of fanboys. I know it’s not the “best” by measurements or fuel economy, but my 2015 (last year of the 4.0 booyah) has not one squeak or rattle and I expect it to last forever like dad’s did. It actually fits in my garage. I love it more every month that I don’t make a payment. And tbh I think it gets cooler with age. Still lots of looks at Home Depot.
And I’ll add, I paid $29k for it new and was offered $27k at peak pandemic this summer…
Toyota needs to offer a front locking differential if they want to increase sales.
About 2%! Most of the buyers probably don’t go further off road than a muddy car park at the county fair.
There sales have been climbing steadily without doing a thing. Not many people need a locking front diff. It's not a hardcore off-road vehicle.
They do with the pro right? Or not.
@@ChrisParayno, no locking front differential, only a locking rear differential.

Half the power and capability of a modern 1/2 ton truck, with the same or worse fuel economy. Nice.
"Wow, nice Tacoma, what year is it, 2014?"
"Ummm thanks, no , its actually a brand new 2022."
"Oh, my bad. Nice Taco anyways" 😏
What's worse is that 2014 models here in Hawaii still selling for 2022 like prices

Alex you failed to talk about the "forgotten pickup" or what I like to call the "thinking man's pickup" - the Honda Ridgeline. I know its not for everyone but it exceeds the tacoma in every way other than towing capacity and off road capability -two things most people don't use. If you're into towing a lot you'll probably get a full size anyway. Reliability and dependability are on par with the Tacoma. For these reasons I chose a Black Edition Ridgeline over other mid size pickups as well as the Maverick and Santa Cruz.
Nobody wants a unibody truck
I think he did do a video awhile back on the Ridgeline. It is a nice truck. The independent rear suspension is a lot more stable for towing than the Tacoma or say like a gladiator. They have a lot of room too.
Small box!
I was genuinely surprised the Ridgeline was not mentioned at all.
You think this has low seats and no headroom, drive an older 2004-2009 4 runner with a sunroof...very tight. My 2018 Tacoma I added seat jackers and it's fine. Interior is fine, it's a truck after all.
The Tacoma comes on top in reliability and dependabilty. The competition has all the latest bells and whistles but all that will break with the vehicle not even coming close to 100k miles!
If you don't keep your truck long, then this not for you. It not the best midsize seller for a good reason. You don't need all tech for a good working/fun truck. Just a straight forward and reliable one will do.
6:53…Rear locker on sr5??????
The Tacoma is like having a good paying secured job, but that's boring and not thrilling.
Now, for me my biggest let down is the seating position. When I test drove one I just not enjoy the way it felt. Second, was that long hood that should be shorter and we could get more cab space.
Third is power, is just lacking sorry and that transmission it could be better.
Do I still trusted more than everyone else? Yes! Especially if going yo the middle of nowhere, ill be scared going on a chevy, jeep or Ford.
I just hope next gen gets a hybrid, as I drive mostly city and if I can get a hybrid 4x4 SR5 with a rear locker and LED headlights for $40 I'll buy one.
This is the ending show of 2GR Engine.
Looks like a Trail Edition. 😌
Soooo reliability and resale end of story for the pros...
I test drove a 22 Tacoma and 4Runner and wouldn’t buy either one because when I step on the accelerator,it doesn’t move, you have to floor it fo it to get going, did anyone else experience this?
Get a race car 😂
We don't need another Tacoma, we need the Hilux. I hate how the US has this specific truck for this market.
I have a feeling the new Tacoma is going to be the new standard - again.
The Toyota is, by far, the best looking mid size pickup.
Nissan frontier?!?
❤MY🌮
When will other OEMs learn?
Customers value proven & reliable over flash & bragging rights.
Toyota is P R I N T I N G money with Taco & 4Runner.
I have come to the conclusion other automakers are not even aiming for long term reliability. How else could they have failed to deliver it for so long?
The Tacoma has its flaws, however it is very popular. In my opinion they are getting more complicated and fancy, which I guess is what the public wants. All trucks, not just Toyotas, are becoming more and more distant from the simple work-focused roots, which is a bit sad for me. I have a 2nd Gen Tacoma, I wouldn’t go any newer.
Toyota made a mistake not using 4.88 gears stock in the Tacoma.
Just bought my 23 Taco TRD off road. 24 model won’t last with that turbo 4.
No mention of the Ridgeline, a superior truck in most ways. Or maybe it didn’t make the list as it’s NART according to some.😂
The worst thing about tacomas is the gear hunting that the automatic transmission does
you buy a Tacoma, because it last forever and worth $$ when its sold, (lol unlike the new ford M. that has like 5 recalls )
This car needs to be redesigned
dont worry toyota dealers are sleazy now with markups over $10k and up, especially siennas and tundras.
Tacoma is highest selling midsized truck in America 17 years straight.
The magic is not the engine, off-road capability or any of these. It is the advertisement of Toyota. Repeat reliability over and over again.
🇺🇸 I buy the taco! Only truck I trust for civil wars, WWIII, riots, e.t.c!
😂lmao. Any vehicle with a computer (and all modern vehicles have multiple computers) can be bricked remotely if the shit hits the fan. You won’t be going anywhere. This isn’t the walking dead. Your only option is something very old and then gasoline won’t last. Get a good pair of boots, you’ll be walking.
@@pryme2013 Amen brother! Learn how to eat dogs, cats, rats.... well... your be to hungry to be picky!
@@pryme2013 Your paranoia is showing. No, not all computers are vulnerable to remote interference, just ones with cell connections. Otherwise it's just a bit of silicon that will keep on doing its thing, over and over.
You're right - the front seats are incredibly uncomfortable and the cabin is claustrophobic. The 3.5-L engine is weak and a step down from the previous 4.0-L V6. Toyota better step up their game with the next gen Tacoma or they will be losing more sales. The competition is pulling away.
