Who wins this battle: TRD Sport or TRD Off-Road? The sound cut out for 5 seconds at 7:55. Luckily I only said fuel door was on driver side for both trucks lol. Jeff
I have a '21 TRD Offroad and love it. However, if you don't plan on taking your Tacoma on really rough terrain, the Sport will be just fine for most users. You can't go wrong either way. They're both awesome trucks!
I bought mine on Jan. 2, 2021. With the Toyotathon discount they offered, I was able to get mine for $36,000. I know a few months later the prices went way up! I just got lucky that I bought it when I did!😊 I hope you are loving your Taco as much as I am!
@@jasonmiller6371 What model did you get ? The SR5, Sport, or Off Road ??? WoW, You did get a good price. I paid sticker price, There were Zero Trucks on the lot and he had five coming in, Four of them were already sold, He said he had not sold this one Green Off Road model because it was a 6 food bed. That was not a big deal for me. I had to wait five more weeks before the truck came in. I really like the truck, This is my third one, The first I bought new in 1982 a 4x4 that was yellow like in the back to the future movie, and the second one I bought was a 2001, but it was only the Pre-Runner, not a 4x4, but it did set up high and was on a 4x4 frame. The one I have now will probably be my last truck, I only drive it on weekend, my other car is a Jeep that I drive all the time.
I am thinking of buying one of these because of the manual transmission option. There are only a few vehicles available with stick shifts nowadays and I prefer them.
I just bought the 22 TRD off road 4x4, no moon roof or leather, didn’t want those!! Very well equipped, just wish it had nav and panoramic views..other then that, wow!!! What a great truck!!!
I just bought a 23 trd off road and im loving it. Even took it off roading and got to use the crawl mode as well very fun to drive Handles both well on & off the road
I have a 2020 fully loaded TRD Sport. I love it! The off road is great too - my brothers have it. But if you drive highway like me they say the sport is the model. Smoother ride.
@@nordicpride9708 Yeah that's been my experience. And when I bought the truck and took one of my brothers for spin the first thing he said was "well this rides better than my off road". It really just boils down to what you want. I do mostly highway so the sport suspension works for me.
@@richrivers1232 Yeah I’ll be honest, my truck is a V8 and used for towing my boat to the lake mainly. So I think the sport struts are the way to go! Really appreciate your input!
Just my view from Canada. I see a sport premium automatic that gives you a long box as being the best value mid size p/u on the market. It gives you the most for the least and best livability for what most of us use a truck for everyday. Better ride on roads also. The next best comparable is the Nissan but it will cost you 4000 more and the most comparable model doesn’t have a sunroof and will be worth 5-10000 less then the taco after 5 years. I don’t know why but in Canada a Sport Premium double cab costs 50,000 including freight PDI. That’s like $37000 US! Finally a Canuck doesn’t get screwed over on exchange rates!!! Sorry my American friends!
Missing all the big ones Like the bigger rear axle The locker The bilsteins even though we all change them 😅 but the locker and the bigger rear axle and front diff is a beefier on the off-road. Gearing ?
Hard no My opinion is that fake hood scoops for looks are terrible. Also, I drive one and it reduces visibility by a surprising amount. That thing sticks up quite a bit.
I just bought the red Tacoma sport. The reason is because i liked the larger wheels and the hood scoop. Also, I won’t be doing any off road driving. Just highway driving. He keeps saying you can upgrade. But thats not true where I live in N.C. you can’t order a Tacoma with what you like. You have to buy what they get in. I asked several dealers and the answer was the same. They will try and get you the nearest thing they can find on other lots but that’s it. And that’s if you can find any thing. I was lucky. We went to Raleigh but found nothing. We were about to head home but decided to go to apex, couldn’t believe it. They just got 2 sports double cab red In. I hate being rushed but knew what I wanted. I bought one.😁 I will say it does take sometime to get used to seeing the hood scoop in your line on vision.
I watched your comparison between the TRD Off Road and TRD Sport 4x4. I have a 2022 TRD Sport. I have two questions for you, sir. 1. First, I heard you mention that Android Auto is not wireless. I can only get mine to work using the USB cable. But, I have seen videos on RUclips with instructions for wireless connection. 2. I saw that the TRD has a front grill Camara giving it a panoramic view. Is it possible to have that installed in my TRD Sport 2022 now.
Sport is the winner for me! I’ve had it for a few years & love it. My son has the pro & loves his the same. Both are 6 speed manual and we’ve both done many aftermarket upgrades. They seem to perform about the same off road you can’t go wrong either way. But mine looks cooler with the hood scoop
I noticed that both of them don’t have the Bed lights. I have a 21’ OR and mine came with the bed lights but not the rear bumper covers/parking sensors/BSM.
I all most traded my 2022 Tacoma work truck in that I barely drive cause it has no power, I bought it new put 3k miles and it’s in mint shape , I all most got a 2023 BLUE TRD V6 4x4, I’m gonna wait and get the new design 2024 TRD IT looks even better, Toyota doesn’t change their body style very often so I’m gonna wait but man I loved that bluE TRD 44k
Sport owner here on Long Island and there isn't much I'd need the extra off road capabilities for. I go in the same trails and beaches that my off road and pro buddies go on and get through with ease. The crawl control is pretty cool on the off road and pro though.
Can you all do a video on the accessories that can be added based off the pre-wiring Tacoma has done. I have a Tacoma and there are a ton of quick connects that have nothing connecting to them that I don't know what they are for. I don't see a lot of videos about this.
How about what different beyond just looks or options. I want to know whats different in suspension, ride quality, payload, etc. What does sport tuned suspension mean??? Rear axle ratio, etc.. need more details...
Thank you for making this video Jeff! I’ve been doing a lot of research on the Tacoma, trying to figure out which model to buy and this video has helped immensely in explaining and showing the similarities and differences between these 2 models in particular (the 2 models I’ve been wanting to see this exact comparison on)! For me, I love the look of the Off Road model and it’s 16” wheels; and I love that I can get it with the leather seats! I think I’ve made my decision thanks to the help of your video - TRD Off Road FTW! Thanks Jeff!
I got the TRD off road and love it. The only thing I wish it had was the back up sensors. A fresh load had just arrived at the dealer and they were all the same, except for the colors. I am happy I was able to get the celestial silver one. Mine did come with running boards and noticed the silver one doesn’t have them. I guess there’s endless options and combinations available. Once again, Toyota screws up the USB ports. Placing them in the center console does no good. I have three devices to plug in.
