My favourite Car Lady & expert / review Channel on RUclips! 👍😂❤️😎🏴
Nothing like a Sarah video to watch before sleeping. Love the humor Love the tech stuff
One of your best truck reviews. Perhaps the best? And humorous too. Thanks
Wonderful video Sarah! The trail edition should come with an access cab/6 foot bed option. It is also worth mentioning that the coolers in the back are removable. Bed space is already at a premium with the short box!
Just bought my first Toyota last week, a 2022 Tacoma SR5. I love it already. I went with the V6.
Tested one yesterday, exact model and color, they wanted $48k out the door. No budging either, market is crazy right now.
Thank you ! For your time !
An in depth review that’s actually in depth. You’ve got my subscription. Mostly for petting the tire.
You hit the nail on the head. 4 cylinder version of this would be perfect. Thank you for showing the rear lift on these. No other reviewer shows how it’s actually lifted and I have wondered.
I should thank you. This video last year was what made my mind up about getting this truck. Thank you
Bought mine used. Love it alot so far. Pretty simple nothing to fancy for a modern truck. Just what you need
Great review Sarah! Loved it😃👍
Love the video. Looking forward to seeing more.
Great review, Sarah. Tacos and refired beans are one of my favorites, so keep up the great work.
I have this exact truck. The reason i got this over the trd was because the first thing anybody does with a new truck is lift it and throw wheels and tires on it. This already has lift and wheels and tires.
2022 Trd off-road in celestial silver is what I’m slumping around in and very happy. Thanks Sarah
Love your videos Sarah!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Been waiting for this forever!!!!
May 4th be with you, Sarah
Your right about the price point. If it was about 4k cheaper that would be awesome. But then you also have to figure in the quality of a Toyota on that 40k price.
Love u Sarah!!! My favorite youtuber!!!
Ah, the squirrel-part! Yet another genius Sarah-moment - you simply don't get things like that in other car reviews! (Same goes for the extensive off-road test - You are the only car reviewer I know of that actually drive off-roady vehicles in their natural habitat. 5 out of 5 squirrels for that!)
"price as tested $40k" We wish! Even at the tail-end of the 3rd gen, they're getting obscene markups. Great review, as always
Just ordered mine last month trd off road with the factory lift and some extra goodies. $40293 msrp. You just have to find the right dealership!
Paid $41k for mine
Purest edition for that base version you described.
I’ve long wanted a taco 4x4, never once wanted an 6cyl or an automatic.
The different selections 2H, 4H, & 4L on the hill really displayed capabilities.
I bought a 2021 Trail Edition last year, and all I got were the fancy bed boxes that I removed the 2nd day of ownership. Love the changes they've made for the 2022, esp the color, wheels, locking diff, etc. I had a 2021 Ranger for a few months, and I miss the Cactus Gray.
This Taco is also great as a blank canvas for custom accessories. Like you, I'm drawn to uniqueness.
Great Video, Nice!
Great video as always Sarah ! I wish they would offer this with a double cab & 6 ft bed , or , they should offer all of the SR5 models ( how about all models ) with the rear locking differential . Like you say , no need for all that crawl control and multi terrain select and hill descent jazz , just 4WD and LSD with locker is all ya need .
Funny , cool vid. Thanks Sara!
Happy Humpday Sarah!!!
Kinda reminds me of Jeep JK Sports that pretty much go everywhere a JK Rubicon will go, granted one must get creative with picking of lines without having lockers, but there's definitely a saving in initial cost.
Stay excellent!!!😎
The wheels look awesome.
Awesome great review
Fun video. Gotta luv a taco. Thank you.
This gal knows her stuff. Love your vids.
"gal" 😂
Thank you Sarah!
The Toyota in bronze on the grill matching the wheels is a nice touch.
Great review. And its a great truck. I bought the last year 2023 Trail Edition and its been 8 months and I have zero regrets. I absolutely love it.
Youre a very beautiful woman too.
Just bought one , great truck!
Hi Sarah from Australia, this pick up segment is really going great guns in Australia, it's wall to wall dual cab utes as we call them here, our equivalent is the Toyota Hilux, and the Ford Ranger, both swap places month by month for the best selling vehicles in the country, much like your Ford 150 dominates sales there in the US. Great review, thanks 👍🏻
Ford Ranger is 100x better than a Hilux on sheer capability & design.
Bilshhhhsteens. I love it when you speak German.
Thanks for a great review, and also thanks!!! Now i want taco's....
Hey Sarah, about a second and a half before you said I wonder if a V8 would fit I thought same thing also wondering if you can mate up the V8 with the six speed manual ? don’t think Toyota ever had a manual V-8 none that I can think of in the US anyways. Sounds like a great project🙂Have a great one as always🐧🐧🐧👍
Wow! You look amazing.. great review.. 6 speed always 👍
The glasses part 😂😂😂. Comedy gold
You’d be surprised what a 2wd Tacoma can do, I have a Prerunner Tacoma from back when that was a trim option (2wd on 4wd chassis) and it’s pretty capable, I just make sure to always have a friend, a recovery rope, and a d-ring shackle hitch on hand at all times
Seems like a pretty cool version of the Taco, though I agree it would be nice to offer the off-road goodies on a truly basic truck; especially if it could be had without the 4-door cab. I had a '97 Dodge Dakota that was probably about the same size as this (Tacomas of the '90's were a bit smaller), and though mine had the base V-6, it was available with the 5.2L V-8; that engine wasn't any wider or taller than the 6, just longer since it had another pair of cylinders. So I would think Toyota's smaller V-8 would fit, and they could do something truly awesome and offer it with a manual.
Something about a taco with a V8 makes the juices flow
If they can get the small V8 into the Lexus GX they could definitely put one in a Tacoma. But they'd rather sell you a Tundra.
@cnorton1us keep dreaming. Not only will they never offer a v8 in it, soon the v6 will be gone too. Only 4 cyl. turbo.
Entertaining vid, nice truck.
Great show 😅❤😊
The only time the Tacoma looked exciting accelerating was when you were driving the manual and working that stick like it was meant to be worked. The minute I gave it the beans during a test drive was when I fell out of love for it. It still has awesome off road and longevity features. Just wish it was quicker.
I agree about the bare bones 4 banger standard transmission option. Come on Toyota get with it.
So cool! I LOVE my 22 trail edition. So many people comment about the wheels lol. I got wheel locks the day I got home ahahaha
It’s interesting this model has that SR front bumper air screen thing. I thought all trail editions have that removed since it ruins approach angle lol
You are not ridiculous, Sarah, you are adorable.
Excellent review Sarah! The Toyota is a nice truck maybe the manufacturer should offer a turbo to increase the power👍😉
Love your videos! you are gorgeous btw!
I really wish manufacturers would bring back small V8s. A Tacoma with a 6 or 7 speed manual transmission and a 4.0l V8 with the same technology this 3.5l V6 has would be about the perfect truck for daily driver duty. It would have around 300hp with a broader torque curve than the V6 for better acceleration and towing, and if you gave the engine cylinder deactivation so it could run as a 2.0l 4 cylinder at low loads it would have better fuel economy than the V6 as well. Unfortunately, nobody's likely to spend the money on tooling and R&D for this with everyone pushing to go all electric. I'm frankly disappointed with how quickly manufacturers skipped over hybrid technology in favor of an all electric future that our power grids and battery technology aren't likely going to be able to support for at least a decade or two after the arbitrary 2030 deadline most manufacturers have set for themselves.
Design one and show it to them and maybe they buy your design. But I bet that u haven’t invented a small v8 with 300 horse power that give you at least 20 miles per gallon. Clown
Sarah LOVES the braking tests...😜😜😜
Cool video thanks.
Great video
I was totally wondering if it was like the Cactus Grey? Thanks for saying that.
So regular SR5 Hitachis with lift springs front lift blocks rear, no fuel tank skid and some different looking rims/grill for a higher price than a TRD OR.
Thankyou for confirming what many of us over at TW have been thinking, that this is a more expensive less capable truck. Considering the price difference if you have the extra grand, get the TRD offroad and factory lift kit.
I played with the configurator on Toyota's website (a very confusing configurator), and found out that Trail Edition package is available on SR5 trim only in double cab, 5ft bed with 4x4 3.5L with auto only. No manual. Manual is available on TRD trims only. Similar TRD Off-Road manual costs $3.5K less then Trail Edition.
How is Natasha? Have you guys gotten that pesky squirrel and moose?😏
@@mostcom 🤦🏿♂️🤦🏿♂️🤦🏿♂️
Toyotas configurator is infuriating
That fire at 16:50 looks like a lightning strike caused it.
You’re very charismatic 👍🏼
Great review as usual. Cool looking truck but I’d go with the TRD off road which is available with the extended cab , (don’t need a 4 door), that gets you a bigger bed . I’d also go manual so it would be a few thousand less and have the better shocks.
TRD Off Road only comes in manual if you get the double cab short bed, no access cab manual offered unfortunately unless you go with the TRD Sport.
I love this review. Tacomas are hard to come by but they had one just like this at a local dealership sooooo…I bought one. I actually love the truck. The built in storage in the back is NOT watertight. Sold as storage. ( yea I know, drivers side “doubles” as a cooler). Ruined some work gloves and ropes and extra jacket stashed in there when I opened them to find them filled with water. Dealership called Toyota Corp and were told the boxes are both coolers. Not true. Don’t store tools or anything you don’t want to get wet in there.
I wouldn't dismiss hill descent too quickly. It helps prevent brake wear. I have seen firsthand brakes go out in offloading adventures while descending a hill before.
Can you put a Subaru Forester Wilderness edition on the lift? I know you reviewed it and a more indepth review would be great. Thx
Looks solid. I would keep the v6 3.5L engine but couple that with a 6 speed manual transmission.
Those wheels 😍
Thanks Sarah for taking Pengi along for the second drive! I suppose the high up position was due to the off-road testing over the usual back seat-belted in the camera angle. Rub his head as the headrest looked crushingly uncomfortable 🙄 Interesting wide-bell, button-front jeans - haven’t seen any since the 70’s 👍
Thanks bro
Great Pickup and it is Toyota tough! Thanks Sarah 😎👍🇨🇦 I don''t see the need to refry fried beans that is a mystery.
You’re awesome and funny❤
That sandwiched area of the Y pipe where it tucks under the transfer case it double walled, a pipe inside a pipe, for sound suppression. So, the exhaust flow area is much smaller than it looks.
You probably would have have made it in 2-hi with the rear locker engaged and a matting the skinny pedal.
Was considering buying the Tacoma Trail but was unaware they don’t have a fully boxed frame. Had a 1992 Toyota xtra cab in high school and that lil truck had a fully box frame.
They don’t have fully boxed frame in the rear to give it better off road articulation.

A 2022 SR5 Trail Edition package without any additional options comes to about $41,300, fees included, on Toyota's website. You'd be better off getting a TRD Off Road. You get more bang for your buck!
Hino is the reason the 96-02 4Runner was so great.
3:18 There are dedicated threads where people cut off and re-route the exhaust so it's not sticking out under the truck. Wish I knew why Toyota thought it was a better idea to squeeze the exhaust into an oval and route it under the transfer case instead of just going around it with regular round tube.
I LIKE THAT TACO, WISH I COULD AFFORD ONE 😆.. THANKS GIRL
My friend has a 18 tacomama same color or close to it... cool trucks cool eye liner
`Spot on about "if they made"...
a 4cylinder, high revving, crew cab, 4wd, manual transmission as standard, bash-bars, sliders and winch = a modern day/retro 1980's rock crawler canvas.... they'd sell out before they hit the showroom floor.
Informative and Ridiculous🐧, that's why I keep coming back for more 👍
Happy Cinco de Mayo!! Now I want tacos. 🤤🌮
Thank you
I’m glad my dad got the 22 taco oR he’s said I can have it after I graduate from high schooo😂🎉
I wish it has A trac as well meaning the Trail Edition would be really great
The cooler options is great, but is does reduce the bed space by a lot. Now it needs speakers in the bed.
Hey Sara-Tune, when describing the FRONT brake configuration at the 6:08 point you said and I quote . . . "Prior Generation TACO" - 🤣 was that from TACO Bell 🔔 or phriggin' Del TACO Yo ?!? 🔜 🌮 🌮 🤣 👊
Please do a 2024 Toyota Tacoma trd pro review! On these hybrid
SARAH!!!!!
Very first thing I noticed after buying it was how damn heavy the hood was. Id gladly pay dealership prices for them to come with hood lift supports from the factory like most other trucks have at this point
I always like your background music. Granted that’s probably not what we’re all watching the channel for. But……
It completes the package for sure.
favourite channel. just spotted a red Toyota mr2 turbo with a rear spoiler and it's right handed drive in Missouri it looks like mr dos but with a rear wing spoiler. glad you finally got a review over here thanks dear.
I have a couple a dirt scooters. Can the cooler things be removed? IE quick release? Guessing not.
Sarah is a special edition with many top of the line features!
What about the white F-450 dually. We want to see what you think about it.
What would you rather have, this trail edition or frontier pro4x?
i got my 22 year old 3 litre Camry up hills like that down ere in outback Queensland, Australia.
