Can you show how you do the beading that outlines the jacket and is encased in netting? Do you make a netting tube and throw all the beads in .lol or bead them on ,then sew down netting over them? I love your work. 😊
Thanks! That's called beaded trim. I have a whole Beaded Trims playlist of videos showing how I made each one. You bead a thin, long ribbon, then once it's done you pin tulle over it, hand sew it on, then you stitch the whole thing to the jacket. It takes forever but it looks so lovely.
Hello Fin, Can you tell us where you buy this structural netting please. Does it make a certain difference that your netting is one color or the other? grazie
You buy the netting from the cosplay/costume/dance section of any large fabric store. If you're using a light tweed, then you also need a light color net so it won't be visible. (When I film a jacket, I use a contrasting color so you can see what I'm doing. And this tweed is very thick and heavy, so the black net won't be visible in the finished jacket.) Different dyes use different chemicals, so I do find that some color nets are too soft to use as the structural layer whereas other colors are perfectly fine.
Yes. Net is heavier than tulle, and it stands up by itself which tulle can't do. They make 1950s petticoats out of net, tulle is used for floaty bridal veils. You can buy net from the cosplay/costume/dance section of any large fabric store.
Glad to help. I never find it in the expensive fabric stores, only in the big cheap stores. Maybe ask a ballet dancer, if you know one. It's the stiff net that is used to make the bottom layers of a ballet tutu.
Thank you, Fin! So good! I love the bows.
Thanks! 🥰🌸 You're so welcome! I'm looking forward to working with them.
Beautiful!! Thank you for sharing with us!
Thank you! Cheers! 🦋💚🧥🎨🥰
Thank you for this answer. I will search some more this week.
Best of luck. 🧥🎨🥰

Hi Fin, kann you tell me more about the netting? Weight? Is it heavier than tulle? Thank you, Gabi
