I remember watching all that shit back in 2014. They inspired me to take my playing in a different direction. I'm playing the best music I've ever played in my life now because of these guys.

Keith got me into 7 strings and agile guitars back in 09. To date Titan is still my favorite song from him.
Next video should be with Wes Hauch, that mans playing is insane.

I actually didn't know who he was till I seen a video of his signature pickup. Then I was like where's this guy been? Fuck, where have I been? Lol... Then I got his Seymour Duncan Jupiter and dropped it in my Ibanez Axion and yeah it's badass!
Not only is Keith an awesome musician, but he's an awesome dude. I got in touch with him on a guitar forum a few years back and got to meet him and Jeff Loomis after their set, opening for Animals as Leaders. He signed the backplate for my KM-7 (mk1) and I got a pic with them. He was mad chill and really appreciative of the fan support.
When I think RUclips Metal Guitarists, I think of these two! My favorite Genre is Keith Merrow Gear Demos!
Both Keith and Ola have inspired me so much, not only musically but they are genuine passionate human beings and care about all their fans and that makes me inspired!
That's super funny that Keith writes songs in his head. I write the same way, and when other bands or players complimented something I wrote and asked how I came up with it they seemed surprised like they had never heard of such a thing. I seriously would just hear/imagine riffs in my head, expand and arrange them into structured songs, and when I would sit down to actually play them they always seemed to be played and sounded the way I imagined them in my head.
This video was really special because Ola and Keith are such close brothers man and you can clearly see that, I hope and wish Ola and Keith do some type of really cool near future collaborations one day that’d be freaking amazing to experience.
Happy to see Keith still making extreme music for all us.

Conquering Dystopia was a really exciting group. It just grooved hard. Also checked strictly seven guitars, which wasn't familiar to me. It was weird because the frontpage clearly showed a guitar with that Ola inlay at 12th fret, but there wasn't a model like that.
Man, Conquering dystopia is what got me back into playing guitar. That album is in my top ten most influential albums ! 🤘

Wow, I approach my riff writing a lot like Keith, never heard of him but I like how he described it, needing resolution, a story of it's own to tell, and then it all playing out in my head first. Cool to know someone else thinks similarly in that regard and is successful.

I've been following both since
The beginning.
Honestly, I've never been a huge signature model person but between Ola with Solar (I have a lefty 6 and 7 string) and Keith's Mark III model (just got it a couple days ago), they have hands down the most ergonomic, smooth, instruments to play. When I pick them up, they truly inspire me to play. Pair them with either the Peavey Invective and/or the Satan 50 (stereo rig) and your tone is so heavy you can melt the face of God.
because I liked the music, I wanted to hear him talk about alluvial. I waited for it, he mentioned Rico, strictly 7 (without talking shit about them tho), he said he want no drama and just enjoy what he is doing, and finally no word about alluvial. it seems to me there was a problem between him and Wes. it doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things, but because it's the internet and I have nothing else to do, I was curious about it. thanks for the interview
Eddy Bouh Yeah of all his projects, Alluvial is my favorite, so I’m sad it’ll probably never happen again, but at least we have the one album which is a masterpiece in my mind.
I think that when it comes to creative players at the level of Kieth, Wes, etc. some guys just clash, while others work well together.
I think he works well with Jeff Loomis so we can probably count on another Conquering Dystopia, and I hope to see a new project from Wes soon.
@@jaredt3985 It looks like alluvial has a new album coming. Wes is still in it but I'm not sure who else it is. But based on their instagram, might be some new material soon.

While I echo the sentiment of wanting Keith to upload more, I also respect and admire his ethos of trying to hold himself to a standard. That comes across in all of his work and makes it somehow mean more. As you said Ola, when Keith uploads a video, you stop what you're doing or you wait until you have the time to sit and watch it properly and that's pretty powerful.

Loving to hear the backstory on the early days of Keith's music career. My main electric guitar is a KM7 MKII which I sort of stumbled upon when looking for ideal specs, Keith has great taste in guitars!

Got a little question ola, i just bought a V2.7 and i want to replace all the black hardware with silver that also has a matte look to it. My question is, is there a specific brand i should look into for my locking tuners and bridge, i dont want to damage the guitar in anyway since i heard some tuners wont just be drop in replacements

Hey Keith and Ola, thanks for the interview, really enjoyed listening to your discussion. As I was listening to you explain your approaches when looking for inspiration (while cooped up), wondered if you tried picking an event/story in history that resonates with you that you can express through music. For example, musicians of history would write pieces of music for patrons (e.g.kings) who wanted a "soundtrack" for large historical events. All the best!

You two are the ones I think should have ended up on the front of Guitar Magazine in my opinion! Nothing against Jared Dines. I just didn`t hear of Jared till way later then you two. You have both been a big inspiration to my studio and song writing.
