I remember seeing him open for Black Label, you could feel the crowds energy change from cold, uninterested, to electric after the first song, after his set he went to his little merch table, and he was so stoked when I bought a CD, shook my hand and thanked me, just such a genuine positive guy.
Hearing a 1952 Les Paul chug was made this video worth it by itself.
compared to the solarsh1t guitars it is for sure....
a 1951!! Even older ! lol
His song hallelujah chugs like a freight train, he used old les pauls all over that record too
i was guitartech in switzerland by the support for Jared he just gave it to me dude chek it out im was speach less hes such a humble cool guy i love him
@@Joey.Darkwoods-Studio Well, the pots were made in 1951 but Gibson didn't sell the Les Paul until 52. I mean, my 2019 Flying V has pots made in 2017... doesn't make the guitar a 2017. :)
JJN is one of the few guitarists who can still get my heart pumping. Most modern lead playing has lost its luster for me but I think I could listen to Jared for hours and not lose the smile in my face.
Fantastic!!
On spot!
The modern guitar sound is overly saturated with FX, particularly delay. Sometimes its just great to hear stripped back players like Jared, there’s no hiding behind artificial sounds with players like this.
I love metal but over 90% the solo are shit just keep riffin but with the jared and some other guys just keep shredding
To me, he embodies that classic Ted Nugent vibe that I always loved. Raw, energetic, dynamic, and his guitar is his mouthpiece. He's having fun every time he plays, and doesn't matter if he's playing a sold out venue or just for Ola, he puts on a show. Inspiring bro.
I can hear it in his playing. But yeah, he is kind of like a nerdy Ted Nugent.😝🤘🏻🇺🇸🎸
It’s always funny when a guy his age says he’s been playing forever, ha ha. 🤣
For him, that’s maybe 15 years. I’ve been playing for 40 years, and would never say I’ve been playing forever, ha ha. Kids. 😝🤘🏻🎸🇺🇸
@@heyjarrodI just can't stop laughing at these idiots
I love the Nugent vibes, thanks Jared and Ola
Agreed!
Dude, this is the most energetic Coffee with Ola I've seen! This guy is the king! Great interview, Ola!
Can you imagine Will Ramos and Jared in the same room ?
@@MrScrofulous lmao why would those two characters be in the same room. just curious bro.
@@scribeofsolace Both hugely energetic Labrador puppies.
If you think thus guy is the king, you never heard Canned Heat. He is awesome, but he loves Canned Heat and if you don't believe me, ask him.
Living in Sweden where it's pretty much grey, dark, cold and dark and will be so for a couple of months i feel a bit sad or bitter. THEN out of nowhere comes this Awesome dude that I've never heard of and brightens my day by a 1000%, the energy and pure awesomeness just vibe and i feel like just playing my guitar! Thank you Ola for this interview and Jared for just being awesome i will definitely check his music out! 🤘🤘
Another swede totally agrees....!
hell ya, america man! this is us, and we love yall(Me personally, alot..no one hates other countries in america, they only hate us haha)..its SO trippy when europeans jus hate us, and or other parts of the world..like dude, we do it big in this crazy shit here, right. peace!
also, im in a SHIT ice storm right now.I'm from the epic snowy mountains and rained out PNW..tho now its climate changed af ha. but ya, yall would be like, this us on steroids haha. And i want to come there(been to europe for over three months) as I've loved sweden, norway, and finland since i was in elementary for some reason..now i know its the music but always loved it..then realized where i live too, but my top bands are from ur area. yaaa..peace again from the northwest coast of murica(best place on earth heh). GET OVER HERE!
Jared is so full of positive energy, it show's in his personality and playing!!
This episode has to be the best episode to date. So friggen cool man. 11/10
I saw Jared years back when he was opening for Zakk and the Black Label guys. It had to have been one of Jared's earliest tours.
We had no idea who he was, and he blew us away. It was an incredible performance and he's been on my radar ever since.
He's an amazing player, and human being.
Man, I always said no one had more fun playing a guitar on stage than EVH... Then a wild Jared James Nichols appeared .
I think Jared just did the whole Coffee with Ola all by himself. LOL!!! Even Ola is thinking 'This is easy. He just goes and does his thing.'
No joke, best interview… and he let you play his guitar. That’s saying something. This dude gots passion!! Love his playing. Thanks Ola!!
Love ya, Jared! Thanks for the love. Great memories! I'm so proud of you.
Holy 💩! My fingers were hurting just watching him play! Very cool and inspiring 🤟
I couldn't stop smiling at this interview and effing ZERO mistakes on bringing that camera up to put on his hands!
The guy is just so genuine and I love his sort of natural take on his playing. Also that Guitars' story is incredible and I almost jumped out of my seat when he let you Chug on it. It reminds me of the Solar you bought from that dude which was also in a disaster. Awesome stuff. Rock on Chugs🤘🤘
What a cool humble guy Jared is. He play with so much feel and enthusiasm 🥰 Thanks Ola for the interview👌💯
I remember first seeing Jared on a video posted by "Normans Rare Guitars" about 8 years ago and knew that he would achieve great things! I'm so happy to see this man succeeding in life! 💯
I was born in 70'. he is retro for his age, this is not found frequently. Jared you are a genius and you too, Tja Ola!
Dude, this is absolutely in the top 3 best Coffee with Ola you've done imo. What an amazing vibe throughout the video and holy shit what a player Jared is. Fucking great!
Jared is a LEGEND and such a nice, genuine dude! So happy to see him on here! :-)
Holy shit.. The dynamics! The tone is in his fingers as Eddie would say. What a guy!
Jared has the power, the energy and the soul in his playing, thats why its so good to watch him play ! Love it !
Ola did a great job of “giving him rein” and not letting ego or what ever, get in the way. Great job, nice post!
Just amazing player. I am not even into blues type of playing, but his playing was so mesmerizing.
The personalty, the playing, the subject matter... Jared is the best.
A real assest for the guitar community.
COOL Interview Ola! I've never heard of this fine guitar player. He def has style and does his "thing" which I TOTALLY DIG! He has groove, energy, and seems to love the guitar. Thanks for this Ola! KEEP EM COMING!
Jared is such a cool guy, he’s someone who ‘gets’ guitar through and through. Would love to have a beer with him.
Also the story about the guitar is probably the best guitar story I’ve ever heard, it literally fell from the sky!!
Saw this dude rip opening up for Zakk a few years back…Jesus I didn’t know he could get any better such a killer guitarist
Jared is such a treasure. Absolutely love him 🤘🤘
Saw Jared play a few weeks back and seeing how much power this dude has up close is mesmerising! Ola is spot on, there’s something about watching him play that’s just so engaging, absolute beast of a player
JJN is a treasure. Music and personality is a level above. He’s a monster.
I love Jared and loved to hear him mention Days of the New. Travis Meeks is such a talented guy, the heaviest acoustic guitar player ever.
Yeah, that's exactly how I'd describe it. I don't know of anyone else who made acoustic sound heavy.
Jared is such a nice dude. I went to his show in Glasgow on this particular tour. While waiting outside for the doors to open, Jared came outside to go to a local guitar store for a thing before the gig, and I've never been one to bother people when I spot them. But the moment Jared clocked me and my nephew standing outside, he instantly smiled and introduced himself. We then chatted for about 5mins while he waited for a taxi. After the gig, which was f'n excellent btw, I saw Jared again at the merch stand and had another brief exchange.
JJN is so damn good. I've been following him for years, and so stoked you had him on the show Ola!
You gotta love JJN's passion and attitude! I saw him open for the Winery Dogs a couple of months ago and him and his band were really great live.
Wish I could like this a thousand times… just awesome. Phenomenal player and reminds us that playing guitar is supposed to be fun and we should do it every time with the same joy and enthusiasm that we did when we first started playing. Thanks for this, Ola!
Btw, saw him open for Zakk back in 2015 and he blew me away then… he’s only gotten better and has kept his love and enthusiasm for playing intact!
the only guest I've seen with Ola who makes Ola look small 😃
As a left hander growing up in the 70's/80's, it was a right handed world, and you learned by ear. I learned right handed guitar with a pick, but use my bare hand like this style too sometimes. Its taken me a long time to appreciate this guy's style, but I do now more than ever. He definitely has the mojo going on...
What a cool fucking dude. I can’t remember exactly how I found JJN so many years ago, but I wanna say it was that 2015 era of him on Facebook. I was just mesmerized
16:28 John Sykes deserves a place in Gibson's history too. I've never heard of anyone like him
Sheesh Sykes should be at the top of that list. Lizzy Hale? huh? gimme a break.
John Sykes is criminally underrated. He's an absolute beast of a player. He peaked at a time when people were distracted. the 83 Whitesnake album was a piece of rock music history. If he didn't have a feud with Coverdale, he would have gotten the recognition he deserved. Not Vai, Campbell or Vanderberg... all great players.. .but John Sykes is the man.
One of the Best Coffee with Ola. i first met Jared in Luxembourg opening for Zakk wylde solo tour in 2016, he was a tiny bit shy but already got tons of groove and potential. just saw him again two weeks ago in Belgium headlining his own tour, what a beast! fantastic show, still a real nice and down to earth dude . Great showman, great songwriter, he just want to hang out with his fans after the show and have fun, Legends ! Thats for sure a fantastic ambassador for Gibson, what an inspiration !
This is just an explosion of guitar joy - every minute is pure gold. What a guitar god and positive person. ❤ ❤ ❤
Jared James Nichols is the fucking goat. Hearing he's a huge metal head explains exactly why he's my fav blues rock guitarist. He's got that raw sauce!
JJ is an Awesome dude. Love his 80's retro style
80s? lol what?
Didn't know this guy at all. Somehow I clicked on the video and now I'm hooked
This guy IS JUST COOL
One of the best Coffee w/ Ola ever - Watching him play using his fingers is almost hypnotizing. then watching you watch him play was equally entertaining - you looked like a little kid with big eyes going "What is that!?" 🤣🤣 Great interview Ola.
I don't think I'd heard of Jared before, thank you Ola, he's an amazing player. That "low output" Les Paul sounds killer, great story and super cool to see it used still :D
P90s are nasty. I have really hot P90 style pickups in one of my strats. They are hotter than any humbuckers I have, and are so aggressive. Great for low tunings. They can really chug. Noisy, but worth it for how tasty they are.
@@Patrick-857 very true!
Jared's playing blows my mind every time I hear him play. However, there's so much more to this man. The dude has got to be one the nicest, most genuine people in the music industry.
I think this les Paul should be more iconic than greenie. Like this guitar has flew in a tornado!!!!! Can’t get anymore hardcore than that
@@TheWavey1987 man this guy keeps going the way he is it might end up becoming that renowned
seen Ola when Jared James do the picking with the finger says it all! This Guy is amazing!!!
"Im just trying to have fun"...
Awesome note to end on 👍
Jared is phenomenal and a cool dude as well.
The guy's a damn magician! Great concert!
One of my favorite things about other guitarists myself included, is that when you see someone you feel is a great guitarist when they play something that tickles your feelings you can’t help getting a big ol grin that it’s right there in front of you. Happened to me when my teacher would show me riffs I adored as a kid
That's awesome Jared talked about Days of The New and Silverchair. I saw him open up for john 5. I thought it was cool that he came from Wisconsin I'm about 20 minutes away from. When I heard him open for John 5 he reminded me of Pride and Glory. Great video.
What a sweet guy, like a boy with a real old soul!!
Definitely a beautiful encounter, thanks Ola and Jared for this lovely talk full of great riffs!!
PD: by the way, his right hand is very technnical just like in classical guitar, Jared´s approach is similar to Snowy White, Mark Knopfler and Richie Kotzen to name just a few.
What a great interview! It is even better when we get to hear them play!! I love what Jared said at the end about having fun playing the guitar. THAT is what it is all about!!! :)
I love the technique at 38:11 what seems like random finger flapping but is done with such finesse it makes it sound so killer
I'm so gutted i missed this guy supporting The Winery Dogs earlier this year.. My bus was late so I got to the venue 5 minutes after his set ended :(
It's nice to see another WI. native getting some more exposure and rising to the top. Jared is a solid cat that comes across as sincere, and sometimes that can intimidate others. It's always entertaining to hear/see him communicate his passions so enthusiastically. Stand tall brother, and keep on keep'n on. Ola is what's up.
I agree. I had no idea he was from Wisconsin.
@@paulkline3011 I remembered after hearing it again, and it all made sense then why he's such an open communicating type dude. WI. Natives are generally fairly conservative and decent folk.
Ola is such a sweet little boy watching and listening to Jared. Just awesome!!!!!
Nice to see someone out of the metal realm. Never payed much attention to Jared but wow. What a cool guy.
Love Jared James Nichols. I seen him live on the John 5 tour
He's got that Hendrix thing, where he's not technical or precise, he just has insane dexterity and confidence, so it sounds really natural. There's all these imperfections in his playing, that sound awesome because of how it all flows together.
Amazing interview; thanks Ola for making it happen!
That guy sure can SCREAM on the guitar. The outro jam is rwally out of this world and Jared has Ola mesmerized!!!🤘💥🤘
Coool technique 🤘
Those P90's sound GNARLY.
Thanks for the close up on his right hand playing Ola. Really unique technique he uses and was cool to actually see the details of it.
I was planning on saving this to my "Watch Later" playlist, but then I watched the first 10 seconds and I couldn't stop. What an amazing guitar player!
Olas dad would totally love that guitar and playing with him
I came into this not expecting much and he's one of the most down to earth people I've seen on this show yet. Consider me a fan now. What a great dude.
what a fantastic musician and amazing person
*The groan of those single coils make it an easy persuasion to get shredders that have always been on humbuckers to switch at least one axe.*
I've always favored the way they sound, and am working on an active circuit to deal with the crazy noise that's almost always present.
*Aside from that, I already produced a circuit that will make hummers sound exactly like singles, so there's always a work around.*
Such a positive guy. He would succeed at anything he did.
OMG this is awesome!!
What an awesome dude! In this day of total fakeness this guy is the real deal. Thanks Ola for bringing him on the show and Jared don't ever change bro!
I’ve had the amazing opportunity to play the same guitar Jared is playing here with him last year , one of the most down to earth guys and incredible musicians and the guitar is astonishing.
I am now a JJN fan. I'm from Wisconsin too, hell yeah! And a lefty who plays right also.
so interesting story of this fantasic 1952 LP
Holymolymacaroni!!! Long time since I heard something that good. Heard Jared around 5 years ago but had forgotten how good he played. Completely blown away.
And such a cool format, the Coffee with Ola set up.
Super Awesome!!! 🐉🤘
Great interview!!! Stoked!!
I love Jared. He has so much enthusiasm and joy in playing. Seems like a genuinely lovely bloke too 😊
amazing guy , such an awesome, interesting conversation, man and the tornado story...insane
What an awesome interview 🙌🏻
The best Coffee with Ola, by far. Jared is awesome, for me one of the best guitarist today.
Glad to see some blues/rock on your channel 👍
That was awesome! He's such a great player, nice work Ola 🤘
Jared is fuck*** amazing. I LOVE IT. Jared deserves a GIBSON, not an Epiphone.
I’ve always loved Jared’s fun personality and his Ted Nugent style playing ( closest style / sound I can think of ) you can just feel how much he loves playing how can you not love this dude ! Another great Coffee With Ola. So enjoyable just watching and hearing him go off ! Appropriate that he owns a guitar that’s been through a tornado and brought back to life ! 😄 He rips! That guitar is definitely in the right hands !
🎸🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
wwwooowww JJN is awesome !! really inspires me to play, love his soulfull playing and all the dynamics!! graetfull for this Ola!!!
THE VERY BEST COFFEE WITH OLA EPISODE EVER!!!!
Awesome Interview! I could've listened to you both talk and jam all day!
Finally actual guitar playing on coffee talk. Love it. Super cool dude.
This guy is definitely a guitar player's guitarist. He's super chill to boot!
I’ve waited so long to see this! This is great! Two of my favorite guitarists in one video and this was the greatest Coffee With Ola ever! 🤘🏼
Jared's great. Got so much fire in his belly. And he tours all the time. Go Jared!
Holy blues face! It's impossible to watch and not do it! Thanks Ola for the interview!
What a great interview!!
Incredible, unique player! And fantastic tone here too.
