Ok, so I know Rodney is the best board game instructor out there and of course the master of the box flip but did you guys see him perfectly draw the 3 then 2 cards he needed? I had to watch it a few times. #wizard #legend 🤯
I'm always impressed at his card draws. He always seems to get exactly the right number. I'm sure this takes a few takes and/or some clever setup. That, or he's just REALLY good at card handling!
Great tutorial, as always! There are some important official rule updates in v. 1.2: - If you have all 6 people in your camp, you can destroy a card YOURSELF in order to play another Person from your hand - A card can never restore ITSELF
Just ordered it. I really like how there's no flavor text on the cards. It makes the setting/story much more implicit. Evoked by the art and the abilities of the card.
Wow the art in this game (and on those mats) is beautiful. Also, I love the frequent reminders in the game and in this video that punks are people too ❤️ haha
I've seen a couple of games now with the Camp / defender / attacker style of card play. I have one of them and I'm eager to try it out. I like this one's theme and artwork.
Yet another great video. I love the concept of this card game and its artstyle. The water tokens are a nice touch and I love the idea of the water tower storing water for later. Now... if I could just find someone to play this with.... 😋 (This needs to be a video game)
Thanks for this video. I am going to play in the next days this board game on TTS and I want to have an idea the mechanics, after watching this video, I feel confident about playing this board game for the 1st time
Thanks for the gameplay run-through, it's super helpful - love all your videos. I backed this at the super deluxe level because the game is gorgeous and now I can't wait to play it.... soon. It would have been great to use ice cubes as the "suitable replacement" since the cards are plastic. :P
This is how I'm keeping myself satiated while waiting for a tracking number for the game. 😬 Thanks for the nice, clean explanation of everything. Can't wait till I can try it myself!
I realized yesterday according to this video that we played it wrong. :DD In the replenish sequence we filled the water but didn't draw a card. Do a try, with this method we enjoyed the game like being a nice HARDMODE. :D Btw this game is amazing and the review too!
Thanks so much for the well timed review!!! Hoping to get my copy soon. One questions if I may… when can we expect to see your top 100 games of all time videos?! 🤩
Glad you enjoyed! No plans to do a top 100 video. Not something I'd be any good at doing - I find games are very situational. What's perfect for one setting would be terrible for another. I wouldn't be any good at separating myself from that enough to make a list.
It's nice to see you back on the tutorial track this week, since I notice that you uploaded a tutorial every day since Monday. I wonder if we'll see one every weekday this week. As for this tutorial, I liked the idea of trading card style combat here, but both players draw from the same deck, and you have to use the cards you dealt to your advantage here. Your opponent might get a powerful card that you couldn't, which could win them the game, or you might. Also, thinking about which 3 of 6 bases will help you in the game is also a factor to consider while doing your actions. Anyway, thanks for the tutorial.
As always, a great tutorial Rodney :) just one addendum to the video couse i could not find it in the comments section. When we played i could not figure out what to do with the punk that goes back to your hand. It becomes the proper character from the other side of the card :) confirmed by the author on BGG. Just wanted to add this if someone also had a moment of confusion with this one :)
Funny how you place it on top of Chronicles of Crime, as I just borrowed these two exact games from the library today. You should make a blooper reel at some point. I want to know how often you miss the box flip.
thank you for the tutorial! i have two questions regarding gameplay. 1. when "destroy" hits a camp, it is flipped. does that mean it is completely destroyed, face down? 2. there's a "person card" called Sniper and it should say "damage any card", does this card ignore protection and mean that it could damage camps regardless if there are people in-front of it?
1. Yep! ruclips.net/video/00HDPb-BrLA/видео.htmlfeature=shared&t=768 2. I do my best to answer all rules questions on the games I cover, but I avoid individual card effects, as that's a level of detail beyond what I can manage across all the videos I do. I'd suggest checking the rules forum for the game on BoardGameGeek or the publishers website. I hope you can find your answer there - have fun playing!
Nice video and good explanation! Thank you for that but I have a question regarding advancing events. If I play an event with the timer 0 I resolve it immediately but do I then move all other events up a timer as well?
Events aren't moved when a 0 event is played, they are moved during the Phase 1 Events step, you'll find that covered in the video if you have any questions. Have a great time playing!
I am supposed to get my copy of the game today or tomorrow (I live in Japan). The excitement is driving me crazy! I cannot wait to play this game. You are so lucky Rodney! You already got your copy. Have you played any games yet? What do you think?
I avoid reviewing, so I'll have to leave you to discover how you enjoy the game, but yep, have certainly played games here. Always play before I do a tutorial - hope you have a blast! :)
Just watched 'Marvel Dice Throne - How To Play' and was looking to see other game play videos. I DO have this game and will pass the link on to the other player (have yet to try it). This was helpful and just makes me want to play the game now 😂@
Played this game for the first time with my friend last night, understood most of the rules but this video helped me understand ones I got wrong. But one that’s kind of bothering me, can you junk cards that are in play?
When you said to use a suitable replacement when run out of water tokens, I was really hoping you show a water bottle as a suitable replacement 😂, amazing how to play thanks!
Hey Rodney! Super excited for this game to arrive. I was wondering if you knew if you were allowed to junk a card to No effect? Like for example junking a card that would give you a punk when you have 6 people already. I don’t know if there would be any utility in it because I don’t know if there are any game effect that get better the fewer cards you have but if you knew the answer that would be great!
When do you use tokens on events ? after they move up to spot 1 or only when you want to resolve the action of the events card ? Can it just sit there in slot 1 until you decide to spend token on it ?
I saw the Truce event isn’t listed in the rule book FAQ. It says to return all people including punks back to both players’ hands. I presume that now the returned punks can just be played as normal people, correct?
Does the raid card only advance in the event queue if you trigger a raid action or does it move along once you resolve what is in number 1. What happens if you have the raid in two, an event in 1 and an event in 3 and you resolve the event in 1. Does the raid move forward or does the event in 3 skip to 1?
Yep, junking is an action, and you can perform any number of actions during your turn. You'll find that covered here, if that's helpful: ruclips.net/video/00HDPb-BrLA/видео.html
I don't own the game yet, but I have a question about the Raiders card. If a Raider card is on the second event space, and there is another event on the third space, that third-space event won't move forward until I move my raider card, correct? Also, about punks. Let's say I draw a person card, could I choose to play that card as a punk as I please, or does that only apply if a certain card has an ability/trait to grant such a move? Could I also ever "flip over" a punk card into a "playable person"?
Hey there, I'm always happy to try to help with rules questions, but if the answer is provided in the video, than I have to direct you there. You'll find an index in the description to help you find the section you might be looking for. In order words, if I don't say you can choose to play a card as a punk, you can't, etc.
1.All events will advance automatically on the next turn. In your example , Raiders goes to space #1 and the other event advances to space #2. 2. No, you must play the card face up. You can only flip a pink into a person using specific skills.
Hope you don't have to wait long - have a great time playing! (I avoid giving personalized reviews of games, I prefer to show how the game works - that said, I only feature games I enjoy in some way. The videos take to long to make for games I don't enjoy. Thanks for checking out the videos!)
So it arrived and does not disappoint. Many thanks again for the teach. Quick question… does the term “any card” also refer to camps? I assume yes but want to check. Eg. There is a card with the “destroy” symbol on stating “any card”. Does this really mean any card? Or does it mean any “unprotected card”. Thanks

You do the best rules explanations of all 🥳💪🏼 one question: Can I place a character in the second spot even if the first one is not already occupied? 😳
Do you mean, can you put someone in the front row, leaving an empty space in the middle row? Technically no, but it's okay, because, as you'll see in the video, when you add a new character, you can always push any already on the middle row forward, putting the new character behind it. Hope that helps!
@@WatchItPlayed okay, I see! Thanks 😊👍🏼 an other question: can you destroy a protected camp or character, or is this similar to dealing damage! So only unprotected camps and characters can be destroyed? Thanks a lot for your help 🙏☺️
@@David-cz7mm Hey there, I'm always happy to try to help with rules questions, but if the answer is provided in the video, than I have to direct you there. You'll find an index in the description to help you find the section you might be looking for.
@@David-cz7mm Sorry, the video mentions that a card that lets you destroy will specify what your target can be, so, for example, if it says “destroy any card”, that means any card at all. If it says “destroy an unprotected card”, then it has to be an unprotected card. Hope that helps!
Ok, so I know Rodney is the best board game instructor out there and of course the master of the box flip but did you guys see him perfectly draw the 3 then 2 cards he needed? I had to watch it a few times. #wizard #legend 🤯

I don't believe it's stated as optional. Interesting question.
At 12:00, does the "Target any Camp" have to be any UNPROTECTED camp or can I just kill a camp I so desire?
If it says “any Camp”, that would include protected camps.
This video is great but I am so confused on how you made the cards stand up
A fun mystery!
Can't wait to receive my copy.
Here's hoping for a speedy delivery!
When do you use tokens on events ? after they move up to spot 1 or only when you want to resolve the action of the events card ? Can it just sit there in slot 1 until you decide to spend token on it ?
Can you provide a time stamp to the section of the video you are asking about, so I'm sure we're talking about the same thing?
I now can't wait to receive my copy even more than before
So glad you enjoyed what you saw!
I saw the Truce event isn’t listed in the rule book FAQ. It says to return all people including punks back to both players’ hands. I presume that now the returned punks can just be played as normal people, correct?
Anything that goes back to your hand can be played as normal.
Does the raid card only advance in the event queue if you trigger a raid action or does it move along once you resolve what is in number 1. What happens if you have the raid in two, an event in 1 and an event in 3 and you resolve the event in 1. Does the raid move forward or does the event in 3 skip to 1?
The Raid card will also advance following the normal event rules. So when the cards in the queue would advance, so does your Raid card.
Thank you.. but i have a question.. can we destroy or damage a event card by order an action??
Hi, I'm not quite sure I understand the question. Can you add a few more details?
No you can't damage or destroy an event. The only option is using a skill that will delay it.
14:47 can you junk as many cards as you want?

@@David-cz7mm Sorry, the video mentions that a card that lets you destroy will specify what your target can be, so, for example, if it says “destroy any card”, that means any card at all. If it says “destroy an unprotected card”, then it has to be an unprotected card. Hope that helps!
