Great reaction. Subscribed. Amira is Dutch and is a soprano. She won Holland's Got Talent 2013 at just 9 years old. From there she signed a contract with Sony Masterworks and released her first CD, which went gold in a couple weeks. This concert with conductor Andre Rieu went out in the Netherlands when she was just 10 years old. This concert was actually 10 years ago. The video reached close to 500 million views, but two years later on Amira's birthday it was accidentally removed. This video you've seen has been reposted. Here Amira sings an aria from Puccini's opera in Italian. She sings crossover, musicals, Disney, gospel, as well as classics genres. She has sung in 10 different languages, not counting dialects. She is the most popular soprano of all time and has around 100 videos with over 1 million views each, as well as others, all spread across various channels.

Think the views were close to 50, million when that one was taken down. From the reset it's climed to 88 million but there are other postings of it with high amounts.
@@andrewclayton4181 Currently, this video of Amira's performance has 124M views, adding the 3 videos from Andre Rieu's channels (88M), Talented Young Musicians (11M) and pa1189j (25M). The original video that ran for the first 2 years reached close to 500M. The video reposted on Andre Rieu's channel in 2016, when he congratulated Amira on her 12th birthday, started from scratch in terms of views.
She's Dutch, but also spoke Africaans at this age, - her mother's language. She also spoke a smattering of English but she is singing in Italian. There is a point in the first verse where she appears to forget the lyrics, but she sings her way through it, and only the dark haired Italian lady in the audience raises an eyebrow.. That's not her mother in the audience though.
This concert was in the town square of Maastricht, the Netherlands. The stage surround is fibreglass, it's not permanent.
Amira is 20 now, and studying music at university. There's a back catalogue of her work stretching back over 10 years of magical performances. You ought to give yourself a treat and enjoy a few of them.....

Amira was confident from her first step on stage....she won Holland's Got talent with this song, the last time she was truly 'unknown'. The only changes between then and this performance is some professional vocal coaching, which she did not have before HGT. The wardrobe, orchestra and setting are all by Andre Rieu and reflect his tastes, Amira was a guest.

Yeah, Amira is still singing.. she has an incredible amount of stunning recorded performances on RUclips from each year up to now..
She has just turned 20. She is from the Netherlands but lives some years now in South Africa where her mother is from and is in her first year at University studying music..

Great reaction..... welcome to the world of Amira...... this is filmed in the market square of Maastricht in the Netherlands which is Andre Rieus home town he does several summer concerts each year there. So respected is he that all the surrounded cafes and bars agreed to not serve alcohol during the concerts .. they can before and after but not during and this was at his request . No that is not Amiras Mum in the crowd jusg an audience member

Amira is now fluent in Dutch (her own language), Afrikaans, and English. You might like Nessun Dorma (CIG 2017), and at the same South African Concert, the Flower duet, with Corlea Botha. The Sound of Music Medley (age 15) is worth a look, as is Gesu Bambino, more recently. Not before 12,500 as with Andre, but in an empty church with her father playing the organ and a friend using a mobile phone. With Andre Rieu, at the same venue, about 10 years later, give yourself another surprise, Emma Kok, age 15, now world famous. Play the intro.

The song is in Italian. She is Dutch/South African and doesn't speak Italian. She has sung in around a dozen different languages. She now speaks Dutch, Afrikaans and English.

Amira's 20 years old now and yes, she still sings and performs opera arias better and better. She has a great motivation and a great potential. Maybe you've just discovered a new Beverly Sills "Bubbles", or a future Joan Baez (she recently sang We shall overcome)... 😊 However, many of her performances are already outstanding !
