In 2013 8-year-old Amira auditioned for 'Holland's GotTalent' with the aria you just heard. She blew everyone out of the water, the jury members included. Asked by one of the jury members who taught her to sing opera she got confused. It appeared she was totally self-taught. She came to like opera songs by listening to them on RUclips and decided to try it for herself.
Oh yeah, of course she won the competition in the end.
You certainly will find many videos of her at various ages on RUclips. A highly reacted to video is her performing 'Amazing Grace' at age 12.

Great reaction! At this point, the only training she had was a few masterclasses with conductor Andre Rieu. Amira is a world-class super soprano and learned classical singing just by watching great sopranos singing in RUclips videos. Amira is therefore pure talent. In this performance all notes were hit with 100% accuracy. Her vibrato is homogeneous and flawless. Her rhythm is precise. And she even used advanced techniques of transition and note connection. The various copies of this video on RUclips and Facebook together have about one billion views, which, together with her other performances, makes Amira the most watched and popular classical singer on social networks.
She was 10 here. She was 9 when she won Hollands Got Talent, about 7 months prior to this performance. To me she is the best. Even today at 19.

There was no real training prior to this! Amira learned to sing by watching RUclips videos! She entered and WON Holland's got Talent just a few months prior to this with no formal training at all! For this performance Andre Rieu worked with her a bit to improve her phrasing and Italian. Since then she has had several people help to hone her talents... By all accounts this girl (now young woman) is highly intelligent and very quick to learn...
With respect to her lungs and breathing Amira had a huge advantage over most girls of her size and age in that she was (and is) a champion distance runner and that has given her the ability to control her breathing while singing in a way usually not possible until one is much older!
This young woman is on a trajectory that has already taken her into the exalted heights of being already among arguably the greatest opera singers of all time however more time will tell!
Apart from her singing Amira has a story well worth researching.... Amira does not merely have a gift - she is the GIFT!
She is self taught by listening to operas on youtube and singing along. A true prodigy on the order of Mozart.

Her parents are amateurs musicians so she could hear music from early age. From my point of view, she can hear 100% of the high of each note. I mean absolute musicial hearing. I have never listened to opera until I found her. She changed my mind. Enjoy many videos on RUclips.

Andre Rieu created the orchestra, he holds this outdoor concert in his hometown of Maastricht every year.
Amira was 10. 6 months earlier, Andre had seen her on Hollands got talent, which she won. Prior to that TV show she was self taught. Sony gave her some coaching while she was making her first cd.
This isn't the only jaw dropper, the three songs she sang for HGT are pretty amazing. Her Ave Maria Gomez at age 11 is stunning. All of her performance 's at the south African show Classic's is Groot are worth watching. The live in concert Nella Fantasia is sublime.
She sings a lot in Italian, because she is attracted to opera, but there are songs in English too. Amazing Grace. Sound of Music. Your Love.
Her most recent jaw dropper was Gesu Bambino, which she put out earlier this year.
She has only just finished school, and will be starting college next year to study music therapy. She is a humanitarian at heart, and wants to use her talents for the benefit of others rather than for wealth and fame.
Another prodigy. She's not cute anymore...she's gorgeous. The voice is still astonishing. Lots of videos around.
Andre Rieu is famous as a populizer of classical music. He has introduced a lot of folks to the genre, and more power to him.
Amira said that if she couldn't make a succes of singing (yeah right), then
she would concentrate on being an Olympic runner...
She is in fact an succesful athlete in her age class already.
Amira was and still is an exceptional talent. Her voice is incredible. I guess you will get a lot of recommendations. One of my personal favorites is O sole mio, the duet with Patrizio Buanne.

Maastricht it is, most people want to see Amsterdam and windmeals when they come to the Netherlands, but the most beautiful part of the Netherlands is in the south, there where Maastricht also is. This weekend Andre Rieu will start again with his concerts at the Vrijthof, btw which he does every year. Just beautiful.

It is worth your while going back to the start and hearing her audition for Holland's Got Talent.. the one For English Speakers so you have the subtitles. Then her semi final Ave Maria and her incredible Nessun Dorma in the final.. that's where the Amira story began..
Amira is so talented. I had never neither been fan of anybody nor used to listen to opera until I found her.

Already tears come to my eyes when my husband watches the movie "Once upon a time in the West", but the 1st time I listened to her sing it, I literally cracked so much her voice transported and moved😭 me! I think it was only a matter of time before you would end up reacting to this phenomenal child prodigy, one that I'm sure all of her fellow-countrymen are very proud of. The conductor is André Rieu and he's world famous for his arrangements (a lot of Johan Strauss), and for the talent he puts in the spotlight with his shows. He hails from Maastricht and that just happens to be the city where I was born. In 1997 I was invited to a photoshoot for a friend of mine that we did on Andre's private boat and surrounding area. He plays a 1667 Stradivarius violin (extremely rare), lives in a castle (at least I think he still does) with his wife Marjorie, and is a very amicable guy. Loved your reaction!
André Rieu is the one who got me to listen to classical music again. The members of his orchestra are ALL masters of their instruments. I love the passion, enthusiasm and fun they have presenting the music. Currently the stage setup you saw is being installed again on the Vrijthof square in Maastricht for the open air concerts. I hope one day I will be able see them there....
I wonder the same thing. How do you discover at such a young age that you can sing like that. I didn’t recognize the name but I’ve seen her before somewhere. I always say the same thing but it is, great reaction enjoy the whole thing.

there are so many words to say about Amira...She is absolutely fantastic.
Amira was a long distance runner at an early age and won many races in her own age group. I believe that the running was a large reason why her lungs were so strong when performing opera! In 2019 she was invited to the Olympic trials for track and field but the games were cancelled due to Covid. She has become a favorite artist among millions of fans. When she started touring internationally at the age of 10, she pledged half of her income to the development of playgrounds for underfunded black schools in South Africa. Through her efforts to date, 16 schools have been able to have playground equipment in their schools for the children to use. Amira has a strong belief in God and is an angel in disguise, and a gift of love from God!

Rieu's orchestra is imo one of the best out there, could do without the cringy acts of the members tho, but apparently I'm one of the few seeing his world wide success.
When Amira won the Holland Got Talent contest singing this same song at age 9, she never had any singing lessons. She taught herself how to sing on RUclips. When she was about 10-1/2 years old during this massive performance, I think the only singing advice she received was by conductor Andre Rieu during rehearsals for this performance. By age 12, she was a world renowned Oprah Star giving performances around the world. No complaint, just to let you know there is something wrong with the sound. As if she sings in the bathroom. Listen to the original and you will know what I mean. Amira sounds way better than you guys just heard
I'm sorry Max, but I did as you suggested and listened to the original video and compared the two, but I can't hear any difference in sound quality. I'm guessing therefor that the problem you're experiencing is entirely on your end. Maybe you could try and listen to it on another device and see if that makes a difference. Good luck!

@markgrant3653 And she had issued her first album three months before this performance; she had a vocal coach for that (from January 2014), so the people saying she had no training are not correct. Amira would not appreciate that.
