      Excellent. I'm very happy this video worked for you too. I also thank you for the tip about ESP versus SYSTEM for the volume label. I guess it does make sense since the ESP stands for EFI System Partition. It's interesting to see how the different installers for Windows named them differently for my video rather than your PC.

    Do the command prompt answer "Y" around 15:20 erase your data on the computer? I am confused about that

    • @techextranet
      @techextranet  6 месяцев назад

      That erases the part of your computer that has your boot info. It is not your data. The goal is to understand that your hard drive has multiple parts or partitions. One has the data and the others help it boot. When in doubt, ask someone technical for help. If you are in the proper location and type in dir, that will show you what is on that drive. If you happened to pick the wrong one, you may delete your data so make sure to be careful.
      If you follow my video exactly, you lose no data. The whole video shows you that. If you make a mistake and erase the wrong partition, then you could lose your data. Always backup your info.

    Is there a way to reset the command prompt I messed up and now when I try to assign a letter it says the specified drive letter is not to free to be assigned

    • @techextranet
      @techextranet  7 месяцев назад

      If it’s not free then it may be another drive with data or it mapped per your commands. You could just pick another letter. Or, if you reboot and start the process over, you should be able to get over that part. Before doing anything, you can see what is on the drive by something like this (use the letter you used):
      S:
      dir
      (Use enter after each line).

    • @techextranet

      It is very odd to only see one partition. You may have an older pc with mbr boot. Try these commands in a command line. Do not do any commands that erase anything.
      This will scan your disk to see if it can be repaired if it has bad sectors. It could be also failing:
      chkdsk c: /R
      You can run that chkdsk command multiple times to make sure it sees no issues.
      You can also run these:
      bootrec /scanos
      bootrec /fixmbr
      bootrec /fixboot
      bootrec /rebuildbcd
      This will also attempt to repair windows if those fail:
      sfc /scannow

    Is it okey to do only part from Command Prompt, or 2 steps before are nissesary?
    And what we do in Command Promt? "Format" means that we are going to delete Windows from disk?

    • @techextranet
      @techextranet  7 месяцев назад

      You have to be careful since you can easily lose your data if you don’t have it backed up. You would have to use the dvd or usb so you can have access to the files. Also, the format command is only for a portion of the disk that does not run windows but for the part that tells the computer how to find where windows is. If you format the wrong part, you will erase your whole computer so be very careful.

      Well, it may not be best. The goal would be to fix it with Windows 7 media and follow the steps (maybe). The boot method may not be uefi for windows 7. It could be mbr. If you have your data backed up, you can just format the computer and try windows 10. But if you need your data, then I don’t know if you should just go to 10 and install it.
