Holy thank you, this helped so much! I started with 0xc0000098 and needed to reset my BCD for UEFI, which then brought me to 0xc0000001 and finally got me to a point where I could boot in safe mode

Issue resolved in second step after recreating MBR bios image via Rufus and following your steps .As my system firmware is MBR -Legacy bios and from last 2 days m trying from GPT compatible bootable pendrive .

Thank you man. I have an EFI based system but wasn't aware of that. Kept applying unsuccessfully the legacy bios solution for hours, because that was all I was finding online. Applied the EFI solution from your video and worked. Again many thanks.

Life saver! My windows 10 had same error. Tried all solutions from other websites. Mine was EFI boot and BCD folder had got deleted somehow (I was not on any dodgy website and also have latest AV installed, even then), so had to create one. 4th action in this video helped and My "All in one" came back ON as if it had never faced any issues

Guys don't use the clean Command ,I LOST ALL MY DRIVE DATA MY FILES AND SYSTEM BECAUSE OF THIS. My computer had problem again 5 days ago and i used the method i used last month ,but it didn't work so i tried the other two method in this video and after i clean the boot partition my C drive from gpt become mbr and what even worst my partition become RAW and that's end of my data files including my Os And apps. Didn't sleep for 3 days . I already saved all my important files one month ago and also long time ago but last month data i haven't save it yet. No way i can save my data every day, my OS gone and the problem i need to re-install my app. I was really exhausted i even skipped my breakfast and lunch to find the solution. This video is not really wrong but in some situation like mine it really made it worst delete bcd and rebuild is not really a good choice. I don't know what is in my head i should just use system recovery because the recovery option was available . But i thought last month i had almost the same problem and it solved i thought it will works this time too, i am such a stupid person.😢😢😢😢😢 it's because after my C drive partition become raw ,i followed other video said i need to format . But the video was made to deceive people and said without losing data .all because i delete bcd and rebuild . It will make your drive become mbr and raw.!!!
I hope you fixed your issue ! This BCD Boot error is so annoying my computer kept flashing it on and off after multiple fixes . (You and I have HAD the same issues , and I did the exact same thing , luckily I had this USB stick to repair the lost files ect .
I purchased this 20$ USB BOOT MEDIA off of Amazon that came with all the windows installations and boot repair tools , literally everything you could need , and it has served me so wonderfully, fixing the error with out re installing windows ! I highly suggest using the same path I did .

Please help. My installation says it's in: J:\Windows. Volume 1 Letter D is my system rese Legacy BIOS.
ren c:\boot\bcd bcd.old gives me "The system cannot find the file specified." (Should I do j:\boot\bcd bcd.old) J drive instead?
"bootrec /rebuildbcd" add installation = Y and fixboot gives "Element not found."
I went to expert forums before this. They had me do these things below which I see are for EFI Based System that made changes to my system:
bcdboot J:\Windows /s D:
bcdboot j:\windows /s d: /f all
bootsect /nt60 SYS
bootsect /nt60 all
bootsect /nt60 all /mbr

Thank you, actually worked in 2024- I initially thought some of these comments saying it worked were bots, but it really did work!
When I type The command ren c:/boot /bcd bcd.old,,,,It says a duplicate file name exists or the file can not be found . And when type bootrec /rebuild bcd , it says total identified windows installations are "0" 😮 I don't know what to do to fix this 😢
In the last/penultimate step I cannot find a volume that is fat32, nor that weighs 100MB, the ones that appear are the following:
-many NTFS.
- 1 UDF.
-1 FAT.
I tried with FAT but since it only weighs 32 MB it tells me that it is too small for FAT32
and with the bcdboot command "c:\windows /s z: /f all" it tells me the following error:
"Error trying to copy boot files."
Many times thank you man. Super time and money saver. Was worried I was going to have to buy a new c drive and reinstall everything.

I'm not quite sure if THIS did the trick, but this video did make me realized that I needed to switch back from USB boot mode back to OS boot mode, so I'll give it a thumbs up.

Thanks so much for the detailed guide! Unfortunately, I'm stuck in step 3a "/scanos". I know it tells you to wait and that it may take a while, and I do have multiple large (2TB) disks in my system, but I guess this should not take like 30 minutes? I also got a new command line ("X:\Sources>" before getting any result from /scanos. Should I keep waiting or retry?

Friend - Ideally scanos should not take this much time....however i suggest to wait as much as possible.
Another idea, but little advanced - Using your friends PC or another PC, pls try to create live windows usb or another bootable windows hard disk and start your PC using it. Then run EasyBCD to scan and rebuild other OSs available in your PC.

I have done all the steps shown in the video, but it does not appear to me that a volume size of 100 MB only appears to me as a volume called uefi ntfs, and it is of the Fat type only, and its size is 1 MB.
What should I do?

ok.. I just did your video on bcdboot c:\windows /l en-us /s d: /f bios next I tried this video with these commands tried first one bootrec /fixmbr and I get the system cannot find the path specified. do you have a video on this fix? I cannot seem to find one. Thanks

I've followed these Atwood from other videos and when it asks if I want to add the found windows install and I type Y it responds that it can't be found. Would you have any idea what is wrong?

When I type bootrec /fixboot it says "data error (cycle redundancy check)" and then I continue to the next command untill bootrec /rebuildbcd and I choose Y option it says "the volume does not contain a recognised file system. Please make sure that all required file system drivers are loaded and that the volume is not corrupted."

I don´t know why but I followed all the steps (previously I was using the mbr method till I arrive here) and however I still having issues with the boot. The original issue is Innacesible boot device. The partition is gpt and I did what you suggest. did not work. Now is showing the same error and after that it shows a blue window mention the error 0x000001. :c
Just one thing I almost forgot... once I format the fat32 partition, the system did not warning me about the files will be erased and directly ask me for the name of the disk. I dont know if the volume was formatted correctly.
Have you another video to fix the innacesible boot device? any idea why is not working this method right now?

When I do “format ?: /fs:fat32” it says
“The type of the file system is NTFS.”
“The new file system is FAT32.”
“Enter current volume label for drive ?:”
What do I enter for volume ?
I tried just putting 1 because that’s the corresponding volume label for the 100 mb FAT32 partition but it didn’t work.
Any ideas????

@ [STEP 3b] w/ ren c:\boot\bcd bcd.old, I see an error saying the system could not find file specified?
So I then continued to STEP 4
@ [STEP 4a] my volume 2 [C: @100mb] is not FAT32 but NTFS…so i stopped since this does not match your process instructions?

Hello I’m running into an issue when I try to format the FAT32 partition. Each time i try to format it says “the media being for,atted has been removed or become invalid format aborted / format failed does that mean it was already empty? Bec im running into a “failure when attempting to copy boot files each time I input /f all
Currently all my partitions are RAW as well
Would anyone know how to help

I tried to delete and recreate the BIOS based system but when I enter in ren c:\boot\bcd bcd.old, it states “a duplicate file name exist, or the file cannot be found.” I don’t know what to do next.
It just tells some old version has been already backed up and no bcd file is available.

I'm stuck in step 1. I already followed the first instructions above to get access to cmd using a USB Flash Drive as i don't have a DVD drive but whenever the system tries to boot from the USB drive the screen only goes black with a cursor blinking on the top left corner of the screen. I try all and still didnt solve 😢 i get BFSVC Error: Could not open the BCD template store. Status = [c000000f]
additional note I tried the ren c:\boot commands and got system cannot find file specified. I can see windows when I go to notepad I see all the files and everything but none of these commands can work since I have no path..
I then tried to format the system reserve but the pc will not let me it asked for the label name which is system rese but says wrong label I try sprelling reserve and same error. so kind of stuck for now

Hey when I get to the part where I reformat the fat32 drive it tells me my system is ntfs & always says I’m entering the wrong volume which never formats the drive’ that’s the only thing keeping me from accessing my files smh

hi, could you help please, i have legacy boot. the scanos is identifying windows in F drive. however rebuild is failing. if i try ren, the message
'The system cannot find the specified file' either from X: as ren F:\boot\ etc or in F:\
there are directories listing in F which are correct.
rebuildbcd finds windows on F and gives option to add installation, but then get message
'The requested system devive cannot be found'
any thoughts or is this terminal??

its a solid state drive and i wondered if drive is physically damaged.
laptop boots up ok with a different drive ok

Your video helped me, but for some reason, I cant get into bios to change the boot order? Also it seems the keyboard takes forever to kick in. Could that be the reason when I do delete on the keyboard and all the lites are off, it keeps booting straight to Windows desktop? Thank you so much! I'll await your answer
Are you sure about your BIOS key?, and try keep pressing as soon as you start.
@@brainerstech So I could have did it wrong and Windows would still boot up. I keep pressing it from the start. I can get to Bios from inside windows and it says I have Both Legacy and EEFI. When I did list it didnt show an asterisk. I was able to get into bios from the keyboard b4 I did the fix. I also noticed after I did the fix that it shows it different in the boot order. It used to show just one Hard Disk choice
Pls help me. I was working on my SA SAMS and suddenly the laptop said you computer has ran into a problem and we will restart for you. Since then it didn't restart and the screen is black but the power light is showing and i can hear the sound of a fan. Its been more than eight hours now

Sorry to ask again but I'm still not able to fix it. I switched to my regular boot drive and it still gives me the error and when I type the fixboot command I get that "The volume does not contain a recognized file system.Please make sure that all required file system drivers are loaded and that the volume is not corrupted". How can I fix that?
Is it possible if I don't have any backup of my laptop. After going through this procedure the data will going to delete forever??

Hi, when I put the USB in and select it, it just shows the error and when I go to UEFI Firmware settings it shows the USB is selected and when I try to boot it again it shows the error message again please help
Dude - pls ensure your usb was created properly as boot media and what was the mode it was written set the same mode in your bios as well (uefi vs legacy bios).
