This is a story about me as a professional drone pilot who won the 8th Skypixel photo and videography contest top 10 prize in 2023. We made this short film as a practice documentary style filmmaking and to show my journey from learning to winning the contest.

FPV is our high, and we love it no matter how expensive it can get. You have to be stubborn AF to learn this steep learning curve and deal with problems that make no sense one day, then works the next. We all say, "I give up!" But find ourselves fixing the problems just to fly again. Most of us have a mental illness, and it's the only hobby that keeps us from going mad. FPV is like no other drug, and the only thing it kills is the wallet. Speedybee is the only company that makes this hobby affordable. Other companies come out of nowhere with promises, then take your money, then disappear. This is the hardest hobby I've ever been into, but in the end, I can't get enough of this HIGH. Never give up and send it!
Totally understand you! Innovation comes with a price I guess, but as you said we love this hobby and it gives us so much fun! 🔥

//// I recall bits and pieces of stories from when I was a child. I was friends with many of the Ojibway tribe. I remember countless stories that had been shared with me over the years. Some from native cultures like the stories shared with me by from my friend, ‘Noel Ducharme’. He once told me some people are gifted, and can use animals and birds as their own eyes. One quest of a young brave was to find an eagle flying. He would then reach a meditative state, and then place himself inside the bird, as if to see from the birds eyes soaring. Perhaps it was as far back as this story that opened up my mind about 'remote viewing'. I am hoping one day, I will fly FPV drones as good as in this documentary. This is the ultimate 'remote viewing' experience. Imagine showing up out of the blue some four hundred years ago with this technology?

Hey bro your just AWSUM, first congratulations. , and THIS VIDEO took me to REALIZE what really FPV MEANS. as a beginner I tensed when I use my sim and break my keyboards, now I have only comple 9Hrs of sim. I’ve been doing this since 2006 and it’s the most amazing hobby I’ve ever seen and possibly the most rewarding as well
It’s definitely addictive and I’m lost to it.
I started flying tricoptors and was putting Russian made 3D flight cameras on them with modified goggles that could decode interlaced 3D analog video signals.
Now I fly 7in long range quads with DJI’s latest video system in 4K but it’s the freest I’ve ever felt, when I fly it’s just for me I never use a GoPro to record any more, if I post a video it’s from the flight cam. My favorite thing to do now days is go flying with the turkey vultures here in Texas, it’s the best feeling when they look at you as you fly next to them and they just accept that you are an odd bird and just keep circling around

Those who have never flown FPV will never understand the thrill. Instead, we have legions of ignorant, ill-informed people complaining about "the dangers" and alleging that all drone pilots are simply trying to spy on them or whatever. And now we have corporates applying pressure to governments in an attempt to regulate recreational drone/RC flyers out of the skies in favour of their ridiculous dreams of drone-deliveries and pilotless air-taxis. It will only get worse before it gets better so we (drone flyers) are best advised to just carry on and ignore the idiots that would clear us from the skies if they could.

I spent so much time watching videos and picking parts when I wanted to try FPV. I had cart filled with FPV parts ready for purchase and than a friend told me about the DJI FPV. At the time only it wasn’t released yet but I knew someone that had it. I was getting details, Pros & Cons. I ended up not purchasing the FPV parts and waited for the DJI FPV to be released. I was hooked after a few flights. I came from DJI’s ecosystem, I had a few regular camera drones before the DJI FPV.
Now I have the Avata as well. I like having that bailout button when I mess up. Because I mess up a lot 😂.

@@DavidZalka yeah, once you fly one of those strong traditional FPV drones, the DJI FPV seems like a glass drone 😂. I have a few friends that fly traditional, build your own FPV drones and they are not a big fan of what I fly 🙃.

@@CaptureLifeConnection I bought my DJI fpv used for a good deal after I had already built and flown my own. I don't fly it a lot, but I really appreciate it for certain purposes, particularly medium long cinematic flying over sketchy terrain. It is a good drone for some purposes, just not close proximity so much.

@@DavidZalka I still have my Inspire 1 Pro, Avata, and Mini4Pro. One I build for myself with the 03 air unit and 3 LR planes with the 03 units.i made some dang good money until the FAA dipped there hands into every job.
